Three designers, 24 looks, one nail biter of a finale. Project Runway wrapped Season 20 on Thursday with Bishme Cromartie, Brittany Allen and Laurence Basse facing off one last time with some of their most impressive creations to date.
With eight days to work, one eliminated designer for assistance and $10,000 at their disposal, all three finalists “delivered a unique vision and brought the drama,” to quote returning guest judge Zac Posen. These all-star designers have upped their game since appearing on their original seasons, and that growth was reflected in a trio of stunning runway collections.

It all came down to this. “Project Runway” season 20 ended on Thursday night, September 7, by deciding which returning All-Star contestant would take home the grand prize. For the first time, the final challenge was a race against time: the three remaining designers had to create their eight-look collections in just eight days — so you could think of this like eight one-day challenges all in a row. No rest for the weary. Helping to decide the winner were guest judges Zac Posen and Billy Porter. Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary throughout “The Finale.”

A couple of weeks ago in “Like Totally ’90s,” the “Project Runway” season 20 All-Star designers were expressly prohibited from using denim in their throwback looks. Little did they know that denim would be the name of the game two challenges later. So what happened in “Uncut Hems”? Did the ends justify the jeans? By the end of his run on “Project Runway” season 20, Fabio Costa had been yanked back and forth by the judges, getting one critique from them for two weeks straight and then being told the opposite on his way out the door. Anyone in his position might have been confused. Perhaps that’s why only 29.59% of the fans we polled thought he deserved to be eliminated in “Fashion, Inside Out.” That means more than 70% thought he should have stayed in the competition. Scroll down for our complete poll results.
In “Seeing Red” and “Like Totally ’90s,” Costa was told by judge Nina Garcia that his designs were too quiet and safe. So he pumped up the volume for “Inside Out,” in which designers had to create looks that highlighted couture undergarments … and was told he needed to edit himself down. Specifically, fabric hanging from his model’s midsection obscured the whole look.

“Project Runway” season 20 is halfway over and the competition is down to its top eight. So who’s going home next in tonight’s denim-centered episode “Uncut Hems”?
Last week only a handful of “Runway” fans who made their predictions here in our predictions center correctly bet that Fabio Costa would be sent home in “Fashion, Inside Out,” but more of us probably should have seen it coming. Costa had struggled the two weeks prior. He got low scores in “Seeing Red” and “Like Totally ’90s,” both times with looks that Nina Garcia deemed too subtle, quiet, and safe. Costa seemed confused by that description of his work, so he was thrown off in “Inside Out.” He made an effort to pump up the volume on his design this time, only to be told that he needed to edit this one down. Sometimes you just can’t win.

Given that last week’s Project Runway ended with half of the designers in tears, we expected Thursday’s follow-up to further explore the issues that led to those chilling final words: “This is going to divide us.”

Hester Sunshine was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in episode five, “Seeing Red,” when the designers had to create looks using the same bolt of red fabric. Unfortunately for Hester, it was a material she was unaccustomed to working with, so she ended up with fit problems and construction problems that she was never able to iron out, so to speak. So who’s next to face the fashion firing squad when the designers get nostalgic in “Like Totally ’90s”? Scroll down for our live blog with developments and commentary throughout the episode.

What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. Scroll down to see who met those high standards and won their challenges every week in season 20, which was a special “All-Stars” edition of the series.

‘Project Runway’ 20 episode 5 recap: The latest challenge has the designers ‘Seeing Red’ [Live Blog]
It has already been a topsy-turvy All-Stars season on “Project Runway.” The first challenge was all about redemption from past fashion sins and brought up such painful memories for one designer that he nearly self-eliminated. Then we went straight into an unconventional materials challenge where Mila Hermanovski was eliminated in a controversial result. And there was another surprise ouster in “Coronation Day” when Viktor Luna was sent home despite winning the previous challenge; our readers didn’t exactly agree with that one either. So how does the show follow all that up? Follow along below for our live blog of the episode “Seeing Red” with all the night’s developments as they happen.

In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. So who had the worst looks of the season according to judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth, and Brandon Maxwell? And did you agree with their withering criticisms? Scroll down to see each unfortunate look.

“Project Runway” season 20 went straight from the season premiere into the unconventional materials challenge, which always pushes the creativity of the designers to the limit. As the fate of the bulk of The CW's scripted series remains Tba, the network has picked up another Canadian import.
Son of a Critch is set to air on the network this summer.
The series is a coming-of-age story based on the childhood and adolescence of Canadian comedian Mark Critch.
At the beginning of the series, 11-year-old Mark is growing up in 1980s Newfoundland, where he navigates starting junior high school, making friends, and connecting with the small collection of people in his limited world.
“When I was a young kid watching American TV in the ‘80s, I never dreamed that one day my own story would be beamed back over the border,” said Mark Critch.
“Having enjoyed so many CW shows with my own family, I’m excited to invite our American friends over to ‘my house.

For decades, time travel movies have remained one of Hollywood’s favorite sub-genres and fans can’t seem to get enough of them. The core concept is incredibly malleable and can be applied to almost every type of filmmaking. Inevitably, though, any time a new title arrives that features a heavy time travel element, the science will always end up being picked apart by both eagle-eyed viewers or pedants with nothing better to do.
Shane Carruth’s Primer is lauded as the most scientifically accurate time travel movie, but most people are in agreement that Back to the Future is the best. That being said, Avengers: Endgame, the Bill & Ted franchise, The Terminator and sequel Judgment Day, Edge of Tomorrow, 12 Monkeys, Looper and About Time are all fantastic in their own way despite each one putting an entirely different spin on the central premise, while the ‘stuck in a...

When Anthony Williams‘s collection came down the runway in the “Project Runway All Stars” season finale I knew immediately it was my favorite of the bunch. It did exactly as he intended, marrying the classic elegance of Audrey Hepburn with the dramatic flair and modernity of Rihanna. And the gown that closed out his seven-look collection was the night’s biggest showstopper. The judges agreed, declaring him the grand prize winner of season six. But what about you? Do you think Williams really had the best collection? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
I wasn’t sure how it would turn out after Williams received some mixed reviews from the judges. They especially loved his final look, and Alyssa Milano was relieved for the other designers that Williams showed his collection last and they didn’t have to follow him, but the peacock print was surprisingly controversial,...

Third time proved to be the charm for Anthony Williams when he won season 6 of “Project Runway All Stars” on April 5. The Atlanta, Georgia native had first competed on season 7 of the main show in 2010, where he placed fifth. He then contended in the first season of “All Stars” in 2012 and placed ninth.
Williams’ win was even more impressive, given that he was going up against two designers — Fabio Costa and Stanley Hudson — who had done much better than him in their previous appearances on this reality competition franchise. Costa had been the runner-up on season 10 of the main show and placed fifth on season four of “All-Stars.” And Hudson had been third on season 11 of “Project Runway.”

Anthony Williams won season six of “Project Runway All Stars” at the end of the finale episode, “Making Fashion History,” on April 5. But how does he compare to the history of “All Stars” winners? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
For Williams, the third time was the charm. He originally competed in season seven of the original “Project Runway” series back in 2010. He was eliminated in seventh place, but then brought back after another contestant withdrew from the competition. Ultimately, he ended that season in fifth place. Then he took part in the first ever season of “All Stars” in 2012, but that didn’t go any better for him: he was sent home in ninth place. So he had a lot to prove stepping into the “Runway” workroom for the third time this year. And he certainly proved it, defeating two other finalists...

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the Season 6 finale of “Project Runway All Stars.”]
Even before the latest winner of “Project Runway All Stars” heard the words “You’re in,” he had already made history. Dubbed the Fantastic 5, the show’s group of finalists all happened to be men of color, a first for the show. The Top 5 designers included Edmond Newton, Stanley Hudson, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence, and winner Anthony Williams.
Williams spoke to IndieWire about what it meant to be part of the Fantastic 5 in such a public platform:
“Not only does that send a message globally about [gay] men of color… and what we could do and what we can accomplish as we stand together, but I think even vocally and within our own individual communities, it shows people that even today, there is strength in numbers,” said Williams. “Everybody can’t go to the march, but I can lead the march wherever I am. It was the scream heard all the way from Fifth Avenue to our nation’s capital.
Thursday’s Project Runway All Stars finale ended with Anthony Williams being named the winner of Season 6, a moment in which the designer felt nothing but “utter shock.”
“Out of everyone left in the competition, I was the person who never made it that far,” Williams tells TVLine. “To hear them call my name was, like, ‘Wait, is this really happening?’ Winning is something you hope will happen, but the three of us up there were conditioned to not winning. I think any of us would have been shocked.

Last week, in “History in the Making,” Ken Laurence was eliminated before getting a chance to show his collection and compete for the title, leaving Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams in contention to win. That was after the four competitors showed a preview look from their collections to the judges. But since the judges already saw one look, the remaining three had to design more piece, for a total of seven each.

The “Project Runway All Stars” season six finale approaches, and the last designers standing are Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But did they all deserve their final slots? Many of our readers have been at war with the judges all season for their controversial calls, and this week is no exception. 81% of “Runway” fans we polled think it was wrong to send home Ken Laurence in the penultimate episode, “History in the Making.” Who should have gone home instead? Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
According to more than half of our respondents (58%), Costa should have been eliminated from the competition, not Laurence. To qualify for a spot in the finale and an opportunity to show their complete six-piece collection on the runway, the final four had to show the judges a preview of their collection. Both Costa and Laurence received mixed reviews.

Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” has been tough to predict with many surprise eliminations and challenge wins along the way. So it’s true to form that the April 5 season finale episode is also a close call. The finalists are Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. So who will prevail?
As of this writing Hudson has the advantage with leading odds of 1/1 based on the combined forecasts of the Gold Derby users who have entered their predictions in our predictions center. But that’s not an overwhelming lead. In fact, it means the chances of him winning are about 50/50. After that our users think Costa will finish second (5/6 odds) and Williams will place third (2/3 odds).

“Project Runway All Stars” concludes its sixth season on Thursday, April 5, with a battle between the three final designers: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. We asked our readers which of the 13 eliminated contestants they would bring back, and more than half of them were split between just two names: Ken Laurence and Amanda Valentine. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.

The final three contestants in season six of “Project Runway All Stars” are pretty evenly matched. Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams all won multiple design challenges over the course of the season. And they all received more high scores than low scores from the judges. But who deserves to win? We polled “Runway” fans, and though it was a close call, Hudson is our readers’ choice to take home the title. Scroll down for our complete results.
Hudson was picked by a leading 42% of respondents, which is impressive given that his journey almost ended in episode two, “Damsels in Distress,” in which he finished in the judges’ bottom two. Kelly Dempsey went home instead that week, so who knows — maybe she would have ended up in the finale if she were the one who had been spared at that pivotal moment.

“Project Runway All Stars” ends its sixth season on Thursday, April 5, with Stanley Hudson among the final three contestants alongside Fabio Costa and Anthony Williams. Hudson previously competed in season 11 of the original “Project Runway” series in 2013, finishing third. But that was an all-teams season, so his stint on “All Stars” this year was his first time competing on his own. Going solo has worked out pretty well for him, though: he won three design challenges over the course of the season, more than any other contestant. So in anticipation of the finale, we asked him to reflect on the season, how he rebounded after a close brush with elimination early on, and what, if anything, he would do differently if he had the chance. Read our exclusive interview below.

After 12 episodes of “Project Runway All Stars” season 6, the show is down to its 3 finalists: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. We’re in the home stretch for “Project Runway All Stars” season six. Our users have been predicting who will win “Project Runway All Stars” season six since the competition began in January, but there has been no stable consensus about the front-runner, even now with only four designers left. The lead keeps changing hands, and that’s true yet again as we head into the penultimate episode of the season, “History in the Making.” Now Fabio Costa has the advantage.
When you combine the predictions of all Gold Derby users Costa gets leading odds of 10/9. This is his first week on top of our predictions. You’d think winning a design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” would be a good thing, but it might also be the kiss of death in the late episodes of season six. Edmond Newton won episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” only to be eliminated the very next week in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It.” Will the same fate befall Ken Laurence? He won the “Crushing It” challenge, but now he’s predicted for elimination in episode 12, “History in the Making.”

Edmond Newton finally won his first design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” season 6 in episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” only to be eliminated the very next week in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It.” Did he deserve such a cruel twist of fashion fate? Alas, according to our readers, he did: two-thirds of respondents in our poll (67%) thought he deserved to get the boot. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for our complete poll results.

There have been unusual design inspirations on “Project Runway” before. Just this season on “All Stars” the contestants have distressed their looks with razors and blowtorches, made ball gowns out of literal balls, and even designed a look for cartoon character Betty Boop. So naturally in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It,” it was time for the designers to apply their skills to resort wear inspired by the “Candy Crush Saga” mobile video game. Before episode 10 of “Project Runway All Stars,” “Rock Your Face Off,” Edmond Newton had gotten four low scores in five weeks from the judges, so we thought he was at risk of elimination. It turned out he was just a late bloomer. Not only did he survive the rock-and-roll design challenge, he won it — his first victory of the season, and it was desperately needed. But will he be able to bask in the glow of the judges’ approval for a while? Maybe not. Our users think those fickle judges will push Newton out the door right after showering him with praise. Do you agree?

For the first time in “Project Runway” history — including both “All Stars” and the original series — the final five designers are all men: Edmond Newton, Fabio Costa, Anthony Williams, Stanley Hudson and Ken Laurence. That was a statistically improbable outcome given that women outnumbered men nine-to-seven at the start of the season. The only men eliminated were Carlos Casanova and Joshua McKinley. So we asked our readers what they thought of the lopsided victory for the male designers. Did the judges get it right, or did the women deserve better? Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Our respondents actually thought the judges did a good job picking the final five. A slight majority (53%) said the remaining designers really are the best of the best. That’s a little surprising given how passionately our readers have disagreed with some eliminations, including Amanda Valentine and Helen Castillo.

Stanley Hudson barely escaped elimination in episode 10 of “Project Runway All Stars,” “Rock Your Face Off,” but despite that rough design challenge he has leaped ahead in our predictions for who will win season six of the design competition series. Going into episode 11 he’s the new front-runner to win. Do you agree that he’ll take the title?
“Rock Your Face Off” pitted the designers against each other head-to-head to create looks for on-stage musical performances. Hudson had won three previous challenges, so he seemed like he had the advantage when putting together a rock design against Edmond Newton, who hadn’t won any. But the judges thought Newton captured rock glam while Hudson’s look was too conservative and underwhelming. Luckily for Hudson, the judges liked Helen Castillo‘s country design even less, so she was eliminated instead.

“Project Runway All Stars” eliminated Helen Castillo in Thursday night’s episode, “Rock Your Face Off.” That leaves five designers in the competition: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. All five of them are men, which is not only unusual but historic. This is the first time one gender has swept the top five in the history of “Runway” — not just the 6 seasons of “All Stars,” but also the 16 seasons of the original series.
It’s all the more surprising in this season of “All Stars” because the women actually started out with the numbers advantage. There were an even 16 contestants at the start of the competition, but 9 were women while only 7 were men. However, over the course of the last 10 episodes all 9 women were eliminated compared to only 2 men who suffered the same fate. Carlos Casanova was booted in the season premiere, and then...

And then there were none. Helen Castillo was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in sixth place in the episode “Rock Your Face Off,” but maybe she could take some solace from the fact that she was the winner among female designers. She was the last woman standing on the show, and with her gone the top five on the show is exclusively male. Do you think the judges made the right decision by eliminating her from the competition? Castillo was done in by a rock music challenge, which is ironic since her personal style suggested this would have been right up her alley. Alas, she didn’t get to choose her genre. Stanley Hudson and Edmond Newton were the ones who drew rock as their inspiration, while Castillo had to design a look for a country star,...

Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” is nearing the home stretch. The series entered episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” with its final six designers: Helen Castillo, Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. So who rocked on to the top five, and who had to face the music? Scroll down for our live blog with minute-by-minute updates of all the episode’s developments.
“Rock Your Face Off” challenged the designers to create performance looks fit for a music superstar. So where “Posen on the Red Carpet” last week demanded Oscar-caliber chic, this challenge required edgy Grammy glam. It’s too bad Lady Gaga wasn’t present as a guest judge given her history of wearing famously provocative dresses made of meat and Kermit the Frog dolls — though in that case she might be a better fit for an unconventional materials challenge. Instead the designers were...

Every week we poll “Project Runway All Stars” fans for their predictions for who will be eliminated from the design competition series and this week they can’t agree on who will be sent packing, but they’re pretty sure it will be one of two people: Ken Laurence or Edmond Newton. Both have had mixed results over the course of the previous nine episodes, and with only six designers remaining going into episode 10 they may need to pull out all the stops just to stick around.
As of this writing Laurence is the front-runner for elimination with leading odds of 6/5, which translates to a 45.1% chance of being sent home. He got a low score from the judges in episode nine, “Posen on the Red Carpet,” but it hasn’t been all bad for Laurence this season. He only had one other low score this season, in the season premiere episode.

‘Project Runway All Stars’: Are Anthony Williams, Fabio Costa & Stanley Hudson locks for the finale?
Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” seems to have settled around three consistent favorites: Anthony Williams, Fabio Costa and Stanley Hudson. All three have won multiple design challenges, and all have had only one low score apiece after nine episodes. Does that make them locks for the finale?
Maybe not. In season five only two of the three finalists had won multiple challenges before the last episode: the eventual winner Dom Streater and third-place finisher Ken Laurence, who is back in the running this season. The runner-up that year was Kini Zamora, who had only one challenge victory, though he did get a slew of other high scores during the competition. Zamora out-lasted three designers who had multiple victories: Sam Donovan (fourth place), Emily Payne (fifth place) and Asha Daniels (sixth place).
