As the top 12 chefs approach the halfway point in the competition, they’re challenged to a tag-team cook-off. They’re tasked with choosing a partner and cooking three menu items from Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred restaurants, taking turns against the clock. Next, in order to secure a spot in the top 10, the remaining chefs partner with GrubHub to elevate a traditional take-out dish into a gourmet concoction in the all-new “Tag Team/GrubHub Challenge” double episode of “MasterChef” airing Wednesday, Aug. 17 (8:00-10:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox.

Bri Baker was sent packing on Episode 11 of “MasterChef: Back to Win” after failing to impress judges Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez and Joe Bastianich in the Vietnamese Mystery Box challenge presented by Season 3 champ Christine Ha. The 27-year old from Dallas served up Pan Seared Salmon with a Fish Sauce Caramel Glaze, Stir-Fried Noodles and Coconut-Lime Sauce that the judges said didn’t taste “like anything” and had “no passion.”
In our recent poll, where we asked you to pick which chef-testant you think deserved to be eliminated, 66 said Bri deserved to go home after landing in the bottom three for the third time. After landing in the Bottom 3 on two previous occasions, Bri Baker led her comrades to victory in Episode 10’s team challenge of “MasterChef: Back to Win.” The 27-year old Dallas native appeared to be finding her stride, but that all changed last night when Season 3 champ Christine Ha arrived and gifted the chef-testants a Vietnamese mystery box that proved too much for Bri. Judges Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez and Joe Bastianich said her Pan Seared Salmon with a Fish Sauce Caramel Glaze, Stir-Fried Noodles and Coconut-Lime Sauce had “no passion,” didn’t taste “like anything” and was “boring.” Do you think the Bri deserved to get the boot this episode? Vote below in our poll.
Bri wasn’t the only chef in the hot seat on Wednesday. Brandi Mudd served up Vietnamese Sticky Pork Belly with Serrano Chili Noodles and Pickled Carrots & Daikon that Gordon said lacked passion and heat.

Hey, "Masterchef" fans. Tonight, August 10, 2022, another new episode of MasterChef season 12 did indeed air with judges Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich, and another contestant did meet their demise at the end. Tonight's episode kicked off with them bringing on season 3 winner Christine Ha to be a 4th judge. She also curated a mystery box for the contestants to work from in tonight's elimination challenge. Their mystery box contained 11 Vietnamese ingredients, and they had to use all of them in their dish. They were given 60 minutes to complete this challenge. During the challenge, Shanika talked about what dish she's making, and she said she was going to give it her all. Bowen said he was making a noodle dish. He also said, "This is an advantage for me because I know Vietnamese food."...

Blind chef Christine Ha won the third season of Fox’s MasterChef in 2012; earlier this year, 11-year-old Ivy Angst, a Little Person with achondroplasia, was runner up on “MasterChef Junior.” Season 1 of the Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games” included wheelchair user Chris Bales among its competitors. The BBC’s “Great British Baking Show” saw chef Briony Williams, born with a limb difference, make it to the 2018 semi-finals; the current season includes Marc Elliott, who started baking as a kind of therapy after he lost a leg in a 2016 motorcycle accident.
Great, right? Until you consider this: Competitive cooking shows dominate the food-tv landscape, with more than 40 series across a spectrum of networks; there are 61 million adults in the U.S. living with a disability. With thousands of episodes, and only a handful of handicapped people, it might suggest that a handicapped, professional chef is something of a unicorn.

Former NFL player, Eddie Jackson, flipped the competition this week on "MasterChef." He came out of nowhere, surprising everyone with his mystery box challenge win. That gave him the power to choose which competitors got to cook with fresh mushrooms in the elimination test, and who was stuck with canned mushrooms.
He was very shrewd in his choosing, impressing judge Joe Bastianich. In particular, his choices left former standouts Jordan Roots and Bethy Rossos reeling.
"What was your strategy, giving Jordan the fresh mushrooms?" Bastianich asked him.
“Fresh mushrooms, you don’t have to do much to it," said Eddie. "I thought Jordan would overthink it, and try to do too much.” He was exactly right.
“Eddie has taken two front-runners and brought them to their knees," marveled Joe Bastianich. "I mean, it’s kind of amazing.” Buddy TV was amazed, too, that such a simple switch could totally turn the tables,...

Summer is about throwing meat, fish and veggies on the grill; tossing salads of all sorts; savoring watermelon, peaches and cherries; and downing iced tea and lemonade by the gallon.
But there comes a time when the sun has finally gone down, the embers have died, stomachs are full, and the time for relaxing in front of the television has come -- just in time to get some new recipes for the next summer cookout or just watch other people sweat in the kitchen.
Here are a few suggestions for your TV food menu:
"Food Network Star" (Sundays, Food Network): Currently in its ninth season, the competitive reality show still strives to produce a chef worthy of his or her own show (although the Season 2 winner, Guy Fieri, continues to be the biggest success). Each week, judges Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown put the competitors through their paces.

On “MasterChef,” Season 3 champion Christine Ha returned to help out with the elimination challenge.
The contestants had to cook meals inspired by Christine’s new cookbook, but there was a catch.
“Open your drawers, and you’ll find a blindfold. You’re going to be cooking this challenge without sight,” Ha said.
But the whole thing was a trick: Christine -- who is legally blind -- just wanted to mess with the cooks, and they got to take those blindfolds off soon after they put them on.
CarterMatt loved seeing Christina back on the show, but BuddyTV called the blindfold trick a “twisted” joke.

Back with a bigger cast, colorful challenges, new voting twists, that $500,00 grand prize and for a longer season, Big Brother (2.1/7) returned last night for its 15th cycle. The CBS reality show took a hit right out of the gate. Watched by 6.1 million viewers, the veteran Julie Chen-hosted series was down 19% adults 18-49 from its July 12, 2012 season debut. That ties the series’ lowest season premiere ever (the July 13, 2008 season bow also pulled a 2.1/7). The Season 14 premiere had dipped 7% from the previous cycle’s bow but pulled in a four-year premiere viewership high with 7.09 million viewers. The viewership for last night’s debut was the lowest since 2008. Meanwhile, Still undeflated despite its low May 29 start, The American Baking Competition (1.2/4) was even with its June 19 show, which was even with the week before. Now in a 9 Pm slot, the Jeff Foxworthy-hosted freshman reality series did see its viewership slip from last...

Things took a bloody turn on "MasterChef." The contestants headed to the set of "Glee" where they were tasked with cooking for the 100+ cast and crew of the hit show. It was a daunting task to be sure, but at least they got to spend some time with famous people.

Last season on Fox's cooking-competition show "MasterChef," legally blind Christine Ha won top honors among the home chefs trying to impress pro-chef judges Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich.
Proving that 20/20 vision isn't necessary to produce food that both looks and tastes great, Ha has set a high bar for the Season 4 contestants, who begin their quest for victory in a two-hour premiere episode -- reportedly featuring a big challenge involving cooking lamb -- on Wednesday, May 22.
On the menu for this season is a seafood feast, a visit to the set of Fox's "Glee," a wedding, a guest appearance from "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria and some surfers.
Also on tap is the episode filming on this bright, warm February day in Pasadena, Calif., in which the contestants have to face long tables lined with some of the best nonprofessional cooks in the world -- firefighters.

Since the finale was pre-taped, we had a viewing party with Josh, Christine and their families at Eataly in New York. For their final competition, they were given a straightforward task. Create and cook a three course meal in two hours. Josh made some bold and creative choices with his cooking, while Christine kept it in her wheelhouse, with Asian comfort food.
In the end, Gordon Ramay declared it the closest finish in the history of the show. Then, Christine Ha was revealed as the new MasterChef.
"After all the obstacles I’ve been through," Ha said. "Going up against such awesome, amazing cooks …This has been the most amazing experience, seriously.”
Ha took home the top prize of $250,000 and an opportunity to publish her own cookbook.

"MasterChef" contender Christine Ha -- back home in Texas after the completion of filming in Los Angeles -- might not be cooking at home tonight.
"I don't have anything in mind," she tells Zap2it. "I might go out to dinner tonight. We'll see. It's Friday night, so might go grab dinner with friends and my husband. I don't have anything marinating in the fridge. If there is something that I want to cook, it's going to be last minute."
The Fox reality show has its season finale on Monday, Sept. 10, and Ha looks good to be among the final contenders in the competition that pits amateur cooks against one another, with culinary experts Gordon Ramsay, Graham Ellliot and Joe Bastianich as judges.

I spoiled the Top 6 of this season of "MasterChef" for myself months ago when I visited the show's traveling set in Los Angeles, but it hasn't made this season any less exciting to watch. "Masterchef" seems to have really found its rhythm and the at-home chefs vying for the title this year are the best we've ever seen, hands down.
But who will come out on top? Talking to the Top 6, one thing was unanimous: Becky Reams, the food photographer from Kansas, is their biggest competition.
Frank Mirando and Becky Reams are the team leaders for tonight's challenge (Tues., Aug.14, 9 p.m. Et on Fox), which pits the final three men standing against the last three ladies standing for a restaurant takeover challenge at Hatfield's in La. That face-off should prove to be one of the season's best so far, since they are arguably two of the strongest cooks remaining.
