Filmmaker-activist Mahesh Bhatt moderated a lively debate on the topic of censorship with Bollywood stalwarts Amit Khanna, Sudhir Mishra, Bhawana Somaaya, Anu Ranjan and Ketan Mehta making their stand at The Third Eye’s program Elevate 2015, the second annual conclave held at The Club, Mumbai, this week.
With a discussion on creating synergies between regulatory bodies and industry leaderships, the industry heavyweights mulled on how the Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) and other regulatory authorities can look ahead in time and create a vision for creative communities; thus empowering audiences.
Bhatt asked some thought-provoking questions. “Is there a role that the regulators really have to play in the digital age,” he wondered. “Is there a way for content creators to establish a non-confrontational dialogue with the government regulatory bodies?”
Industry doyen Amit Khanna opined, “In the 21st century, given the way technology has allowed us to interact with each other,...

After the Aib Roast, a funny video featuring Badmashiyaan actors, Sharib Hashmi and Suzanna Mukherjee and ex-Roadies hosts, Raghu and Rajiv, was edited out by almost 50 per cent by director Amit Khanna. He didn’t want to take any chances of suffering the same fate that he had suffered earlier for his film Badmashiyaan where five words (kuttey, kaminey, har**kh, a**, pichh**** and maa ki ***kh) have already been deleted by the Censor Board from the film. The hilarious mock audition video, with some outrageously funny one-liners, turned out to be a tame affair with Amit beeping out half the words!
Vijay Gutte’s Badmashiyaan – fun never ends, is directed by ace fashion photographer Amit Khanna, produced under the Vrg motion pictures/ After studio. The film stars Sharib Hashmi, Suzanna Mukherjee, Karan Mehra, Sidhant Gupta and Gunjan Malhotra, is slated for 6th March 2015 release.

On Monday night, Badmashiyaan co-stars, Sharib Hashmi and Suzanna Mukherjee shot for a funny video with Raghu and Rajiv (ex-Roadies hosts) within just a couple of hours at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. Sharib and the two brothers are great friends and it was they who suggested that they shoot for one of the promotional songs from the film and a comic skit to help promote the film. It all happened overnight within 24 hours. Director Amit Khanna had to put his entire team behind it to get the shoot rolling. Before they shot, Sharib with the brother duo went off to Bandra Bandstand to rehearse where they met another of their close friends Rannvijay Singha and his wife Prianka.
Says a source, “Raghu and Rajiv are very close to Sharib as they have worked together in MTV. On Sunday the brothers called up Sharib and said that they wanted to do...

The legal crisis faced by director Amit Khanna's naughty rom-com Badmashiyaan has finally been resolved. The beleaguered film which was due for release on February 27, would now be released on March 6. For those who came in late, the film found itself in a bit of a fix when the makers of another forthcoming Hindi film Mango directed by Abbas Tyrewala claimed that Badmashiyaan seemed similar to a Korean film titled Couples for which the makers of Mango had acquired the official remake rights. On the basis of the complaint made by the makers of Mango (Msm Motion Pictures) the honourable Delhi High Court had restrained the release of Badmashiyaan. But this week in an out-of-court settlement the producers of Badmashiyaan were able to secure the release of their film. Says the film's co-producer Anurag Shrivastav, "The situation has been mutually settled. And now we are releasing our film on...

After Sonam Kapoor another Bollywood actress appears to be heading the fashionista way. Badmashiyaan actress Suzanna Mukherjee has been choosing what to wear and styling herself for all events till now. Her co-star Gunjan Mehra is all praises for Suzanna’s fashion sense. “With her great sense of styling and fashion, Suzanna reminds me of Sonam Kapoor. In fact I have often taken tips from Suzanna myself on styling.”
But Suzanna prefers not to be compared to anybody. “I have my own distinctive fashion sense. Sonam is definitely more evolved than me as she’s had quite a few years in Bollywood. I don’t consider myself to be a fashionista yet though I do have a keen sense of style. I don’t think I am as good as Sonam right now. I understand fashion and styling that’s all. I can’t take Sonam on for fashion.” she smiles.

Jaipur, Jan 30: In an age of multiple entertainment choices, the ways of consuming media has changed, forcing a rethink in TV and cinema programming for crisp and shorter content, as people's attention span is also getting shorter, says an industry leader.
"There is cacophony of media today. Never in the history of human race have we been so networked," says Amit Khanna, poet, film lyricist and media mogul who is also chairman of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment Limited.
"We have nearly two billion internet connections, more than four billion phones. We have multiple choices of media. In Indian households, a young daughter.
