Claw, the latest film from director Gerald Rascionato and co-writer Joel Hogan has a bit of an identity crisis. The truth is, it’s an uneven mix of both.
Julia (Chynna Walker; Seven Short Films About (Our) Marriage) and Kyle (Richard Rennie; The Truth of It) are on their way to LA where she has a showcase performance for her standup routine. However when a coyote, probably chasing a roadrunner, runs in front of them they end up stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire and have to spend the night in a ghost town with it’s only inhabitant,...

If you've ever wanted to experience the thrill of swimming with the sharks without the risk of dismemberment, then you might want to take the plunge with Open Water 3: Cage Dive, which is in theaters and available On-Demand and on Digital HD beginning August 11th from Lionsgate. For our latest Q&A feature, we recently caught up with director Gerald Rascionato and star Joel Hogan to discuss the making of their new water-centric movie.
Gerald, the found footage approach to this story makes the viewer feel like they’re swimming with the sharks. How did you go about filming the first-person Pov shots?
Gerald Rascionato: I wanted the film to look authentic, but I made sure to get a Sony hand-cam that had a very good self-stabilizing lens. Even though the film is shot Pov, I didn’t want the footage to look too shaky like in some other found footage movies.

Here’s the synopsis:
In this intense thriller, three friends from California head to the rugged Australian coast for a cage-dive encounter with deadly Great Whites. But after attracting a swarm of vicious sharks their tour boat is destroyed by a massive rogue wave. As clouds gather and darkness descends, the three friends find themselves alone and defenseless, afloat in the chilly ocean as hungry man-eaters begin to circle. Directed by Stacy Title and written by Jonathan Penner, “The Bye Bye Man” follows the story of three college students move into an old, off-campus house. They quickly find themselves hunted by a supernatural entity called The Bye Bye Man who may be responsible for possessing various people and causing them to commit killing sprees throughout recent history. The students discover the origins of the Bye Bye Man and find that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don’t say or think his name, because once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control.
Bye Bye Man opens in theatres on January 13, 2016. The soundtrack album featuring the score is available on Sony Classical.
