When Love Island USA's second season began, I was apprehensive about a lot of things, including the future of the sole Black woman of the original cast, Justine Ndiba. Reality TV doesn't have a great history when it comes to the treatment of Black women in general, but Love Island has an especially grim past when it comes to Black contestants trying to find love. "We didn't find anyone who liked us. It was always someone coming in and saying 'My type is blonde and petite,'" Love Island UK's Yewande Biala told 1Xtra Talks about struggling on the show alongside winner Amber Gill, who is mixed race, and Anna Vakili, who's Iranian. "We'd just look at each other and say 'They're obviously not here for us.'"
So, when I saw Justine enter the Las Vegas villa in all her glory, I was immediately consumed by the worry...

Viacom’s streamer, Pluto TV, has launched a dedicated “Degrassi” channel on its ad-supported streaming platform. The pop-up channel will be programmed with “Degrassi: The Next Generation” and installments of the later “Degrassi” series.
The channel is available on Pluto TV in the U.S. and U.K., offering hundreds of episodes from the teen drama series, which were part of the wider “Degrassi” property, the longest-running drama franchise in Canadian history.
“Degrassi: The Next Generation” aired from 2001 to 2009. The show’s original cast included Drake (then Aubrey Graham), playing school basketballer Jimmy Brooks, and Nina Dobrev portraying Mia Jones.
“Degrassi” was reformatted in a later spinoff starting in 2010. It was restructured into a telenovela format with more than 40 episodes a season. It ended in 2015.
Pluto TV struck a deal with Canadian kids-and-family media company WildBrain, which owns and sells the “Degrassi” franchise, for the episodes for its channel.

When the alcohol's flowing, sometimes Champagne Papi remembers Jimmy Brooks. Late Thursday, Drake shared a personal tidbit with his near-60 million Instagram followers. "Sometimes when I am drunk and bored in the club I stare down and see degrassi scripts....no rap [cap]," he wrote in a post. As proof, the star uploaded a snap of himself in what appears to be a bar or club gazing down at the floor. The rapper finished the Instagram post with a second photo, this time a throwback shot, of him as a young star by the name of Aubrey at a table read for Degrassi, on which he starred from 2001 through 2008. The standout post naturally spurred plenty of commentary,...

Drake’s not the only one “upset” these days.
In his latest music video, for the song “I’m Upset,” the rapper brought together much of the cast from “Degrassi,” the Canadian teen drama on which he starred as Jimmy Brooks.
A few cast members were absent — Ryan Cooley, Mike Lobel and Daniel Clark, with the latter saying that he didn’t even know the video was in the works.

“No one ever reached out to me about this,” Clark told Page Six on Thursday. “I have no idea even when it was filmed. I woke up this morning and watched the music video and was like, ‘What the hell is going on?'”

Just when you think he's down for the count, Drake comes back to prove he's never out for long. After a brief quiet period following a rap beef with Pusha T, Drake dropped a surprise for all his fans on Wednesday night with the music video for his song "I'm Upset."

Drake’s former castmates from “Degrassi: The Next Generation” had a blast reuniting for his latest video, “I’m Upset,” shot this past weekend in downtown Toronto from the Air Canada Centre, where the rap star’s beloved Raptors play basketball, in addition to the Degrassi set in north Toronto, where the long-running teen drama still films.
He released the video Wednesday night and it already has more than 2.5 million views on YouTube.
From 2001 to 2009, Drake, then known by his birth name Aubrey Graham, played Jimmy Brooks in the series, a rich kid who ends up in a wheelchair after getting shot.
He appeared in over 100 episodes, and again in “Degrassi: Minis” (2005-2007). He also released his first mixtape, “Room For Improvement,” in 2007.

No matter how famous ~Mr. Champagne Papi~ gets, he always finds ways of paying homage to where he came from. No, we’re not talking about Canada — we’re talking about Degrassi. Drake just loves referencing his faux alma mater and Tbh, we can’t get enough! The rapper’s latest sign of Degrassi affection was organizing the most epic cast reunion we’ve ever seen! For Drake’s “I’m Upset” music video, the 31-year-old brought the ol’ gang back together in all of their former teenage glory — with the exception of two major characters. Where the heck were Jt Yorke and Sean Cameron?! Well, for starters, some fans are speculating that the reason Jt wasn’t in the music video is because, as we all sadly know, his character was killed off the series. That said, Drake’s character, Jimmy Brooks, was confined to a wheelchair. So...they...

Anyone else nursing a Degrassi hangover, thanks to Drake's (Aubrey Graham) latest music video?! While we are on a nostalgia-fueld high, we can't help but imagine being a Degrassi cast member casually pressing play on the "I'm Upset" music video, released late Wednesday night, only to find out there was a cast reunion you either missed out on and/or weren't invited to. Even Rick (Ephram Ellis), the guy who shot Jimmy Brooks (Drake's character) was invited! While Degrassi has welcomed a lot of students through its doors over the years, there were several major cast members eagle-eyed fans were disappointed not to spot in the bleachers during the epic video, which almost broke the...

We knew Drake could act and rap, but… play video games? Drake showed he’s a triple threat when he jumped on Twitch last night to play “Fortnite” with pro-gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins — setting viewing records in the process. The “God’s Plan” rapper spent more than 45 minutes playing the uber-popular shooting game, and racked up 630,000 concurrent viewers on the streaming platform. That easily surpassed the previous Twitch record of 388,000 for a single-player stream. Drizzy gamed under the username “TheBoyDuddus,” which was a bit of a downer for “Degrassi” fans hoping he used a “Jimmy Brooks” alias online. He said...
