Tonight was an emotional evening for Vogue's Editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. The famously private publishing star presented the Icon Award to the late Franca Sozzani at the 2017 Cfda Fashion Awards and fought back tears when describing their friendship over the past three decades. "Franca and I were thrown into each other's lives quickly. When we were hired to lead our magazines the very same week but we became friends slowly—in part because both of us were independent spirits, each a little bit unsure of what to make of the other. We sort of circled each other like jungle cats but frankly I was just really intimated by that magnificent hair." Wintour then paraphrased a poem entitled...

Over the course of her incredibly illustrious career, Anna Wintour has racked up pretty much every honor the fashion industry can bestow upon her. Bee Shaffer, the 29-year-old daughter of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, is always one to watch on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala red carpet. It certainly doesn’t hurt that her mother has co-chaired the gala for decades, thus ensuring Shaffer gets her pick of beautiful dresses for the night. (She’s made our best-dressed list on more than one occasion for just that reason!)
But this year, the spotlight was especially bright on the producer for Late With Seth Meyers, for good reason: She recently announced her engagement to fellow fashion royalty Francesco Carrozzini, the son...

Title: Franca Chaos and Creation Director: Francesco Carrozzini Genre: Documentary Francesco Carrozzini is an Italian photographer and filmmaker based in New York, son of the legendary Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia: Franca Sozzani. He alone could be the one who could bring to the big screen the story of the woman who made history in the world of fashion magazines. ‘Franca Chaos and Creation’ creates an intimate portrait of Sozzani, with the appropriate dose of irony and lightheartedness that comes through the playful parent-child bickering. In this meticulously delicate storytelling, Carrozzini retraces Franca’s determination, ever since she was a child who decided to go to boarding school, through her adolescent days [ Read More ]

In what might be the most embarrassing confession of my career, I will admit that "America's Next Top Model" is my guilty pleasure. I've watched it since the early days of Adrianne Curry, the first-ever winner; I've seen Tyra Banks' hair morph from sleek bob to red weave to waist-length 'do; and I've witnessed the endless cycle of judges come and go. None of these changes have been particularly shocking. But when Tyra announced last week that she was firing long-time "Top Model" personalities Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and Jay Alexander, I was floored.
Aside from the contestants' shifting attitudes and characteristics from season to season, that fired triad was the meat of the show. Now gutted, whatever poses as "America's Next Top Model" will be nothing of the sort. Nigel and "The Jays" are as much a part of the identity of "Antm" as Tyra herself -- in fact,...

Welcome back from Thanksgiving break my darlings! The ladies are still in Greece and it looks like this week's episode is going to be filled with a lot of creepiness, yelling, crying and, as per usual, ridiculousness.
Tyra is going to have the girls be part of a "fashion film" based on her book, Modelland, which Lisa says is going to be "epic." I'm at the point right now when if one of the models says they're going to be a part of something "epic," I prepare myself for the worst.

America's Next Top Model: All-Stars 17.11 "Highlights" Review
Hey, you know what this hideous season of Top Model needs?
Why, an episode that recaps every absurd, maddening minute of the hours of our life that we've sunk into this show, of course! Yes, "Highlights" was Top Model's typical late cycle look back at the good times, the bad times, and the times that made me want to throw my TV out the window. I don't typically watch clip shows, as there's very rarely any interesting information that gets presented, but because I love/appreciate everybody who reads and comments on my weekly reviews, I figured "why the heck not?". You're all top models in my eyes, my little pot ledoms.
And...there wasn't anything that stimulating that came from the new footage. At all. I mean, if you're into arguments about time on the phone or finding out that Alexandria has 13 besties (!), then hey,...
The four remaining girls get a rare chance to spend with Vogue Italia's editor-in-chief (and last week's guest judge) Franca Sozzani at the start of this week's America's Next Top Model. With one of the prizes being a spread in the magazine, a feature on the website, and the cover of its supplement Beauty In Vogue, they take the opportunity to talk with her about their books and the industry. Next up is a professional tea tray dancing lesson which proves to be harder than it looks. The models have to balance a tray containing tea items on their head, but the learning process is filled with plenty of crashes and bangs. Unfortunately for them, they soon learn from Miss J that they will have to showcase their new skills in front of a live audience later that night. Even worse, they'll be balancing lit candles on this tray this time.

In "Daniella Issa Helayel," the girls take it upon themselves to enjoy Morocco at their fullest.
In light of the fact that it's one of the more exotic locales that America's Top Model's ever been to, it's fun to see the girls enjoying the outdoor markets and enjoying slightly unconventional foods. In Cycle 3, the models did not take so kindly to Japanese culture, but Cycle 16 contestants seem to be more enthusiastic.
The girls chow down on goat brains, eyeballs, and intestines even if they're shrieking in the process. Let's break down this Antm episode.
The girls have an impromptu tea with Miss Jay and Franca Sozzani, the imposing editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. The girls try desperately to impress the lady but end up blabbing and generally falling a bit flat. Let's hope that their portfolios impressed her at least. In addition, they meet a professional tea-tray dancer, who's impressively balancing...

Cycle 16 of America’s Next Top Model is already winding down to the finale. It seems like only yesterday that we started hating on Alexandria, who’s fast proving to be a finale contender for the title of America’s Next Top Model's 16th edition.
In "Franca Sozzani," the models shot in exotic Morocco with a camel! Let’s break it down.
The Challenge:
The girls first arrive at Marrakech, which looks like an amazing Arabian Nights-esqe backdrop, complete with snake charmers and pretty cute monkeys.
The girls are treated to delicious little treats and taken to a local Marrekech designer with Andre Leon Talley where they’re promptly asked to walk in haute couture outfits. The designs are earthy and reminiscent of the desert; perfect for Marrekech.
The first disaster in Morocco strikes as Kasia can’t find a dress to fit her.

Leave it to Alexandria to mess up all the sympathy we had for her after Brittani wowed out on her. In Wednesday's (April 27) episode, "America's Next Top Model" goes to, wait for it... Morocco. "Sex and the City 2" and "The Real Housewives of New York City" went there, too. Who's Morocco's publicist?
In Marrakech, the models get a chance to take in the sites before one of them has a meltdown in the first challenge when the clothes don't fit her. And it's the same old story when Alexandria is called out on trying to direct during the photo shoot. Plus, Vogue Italia's Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani gets a stab at judging who will get closer to appearing in her magazine.
"America's Next Top Model" airs at a new time: Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Et on The CW.
Will Alexandria be the first to leave Morocco?...

Do you know what made us "smize" this morning? The CW released a first look photo of the new cast for "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 16! The series returns Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Et.
Pictured above, from left: Dominique, Kasia, Brittani, Monique, Mikaela, Angelia, Hannah, Dalya, Nicole, Sara, Alexandria, Ondrei, Jaclyn and Molly.
On first look, it's a pretty diverse group. We noticed that most of the models are 23 or younger. But, there is a 26-year-old in the bunch: Kasia. Get ready to hear the "this is my last chance" stories.
The fourteen women will compete once again for the "high fashion" package of a contract with Img Models, a fashion spread in Vogue Italia and a spread and cover of Beauty in Vogue, plus a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics.

Four contestants, one beautiful location and one first-time director. Let's break down this installment of America's Next Top Model, shall we?
The Lesson
The girls meet an acting coach where they work on projecting their voices and emoting. They wail and flail to try to bring out their emotions. It’s pretty entertaining to watch, especially since it seems exceedingly unconvincing.
I actually did think Ann’s version of being scared was incredibly believable, and the highlight of the whole episode was when the acting coach referred to Ann as "Frankenstein." Apologies for ripping on Ann once again, but the poor girl continues to warble every week!
The Challenge
The remaining four girls are directed to present themselves to Franca Sozzani, the editor in chief of Vogue Italia. Franca, who is just as bony and intimidating as her American counterpart, scrutinizes each woman. It’s extremely awkward that Andre Leon Talley...
