While you predicted that cousins Leo and Jamal would win this tenth leg of "The Amazing Race," they came second to father and son cancer survivors Dave and Connor who you had in third. And your second place finishers -- cowboy brothers Cord and Jet-- ended up eliminated after being U-Turned by Leo and Jamal in a strategic move. -Break- Predict winners of other reality TV shows The "Afghan-animals" had been expected to U-Turn power couple Brendon and Rachel but they believed the cowboys to be their stronger competition. And while you predicted country duo Jennifer and Caroline would come last, they quickly completed their Speed Bump and were fourth to the finish line thereby giving the last all-female team in the race a chance to compete again. Do you hate Brendon & Rachel as much as their rivals on the 'Race' do? Weigh in with your opinion in our feisty forums.

I spent my day on the set of Fox's "Broadchurch" remake "Gracepoint" up in beautiful Victoria, BC, so I'm on my own race not-exactly-around-the-world, a race that left me unable to watch Sunday's (May 5) "The Amazing Race" until late, meaning that it's already after midnight as I start on this recap. Fortunately, this is a really easy episode to recap. In fact, there are really only two things to discuss about Sunday's episode, which doesn't mean it was a bad episode. In fact, thanks to one utterly bonkers Detour, it was quite fun. But Sunday's Leg was darned straight-forward and, once again, all came down to an over-reliance on the U-Turn for drama. On to the recap after the break. So let's just get straight to the two major points of discussion, one of which was the sole determining factor in the Leg and the other of which was totally...

However, this turned out to be an unexpected non-elimination leg, giving the last all-female team in the race a chance to compete again. That was brutal. I really have almost nothing to say about Sunday (April 27) night's episode of "The Amazing Race." It was an hour-long commercial for Ford in which the "result" was never in question. For the duration of the episode, my notes are nothing more than "Ugh" "Blech" "Boo" and "God, I hate these people." I'm going to be going into the season's last two episodes rooting much more aggressively *against* several teams than I'll be rooting *for* anybody, which I guess is what the producers want at this point. It's all about passion and "hostility" is a kind of passion. And if you would have told me in February that with two weeks to go, Brendon & Rachel would be one of the two teams I'd kinda like to see win this "Amazing Race: All-Stars" season, I'd have told you that you were crazy. But that's what "The Amazing Race" has done to me.

In war, great victories are birthed from great alliances. Just as the United States would have never been able to topple the Axis powers in World War II without the good ole UK and Russians on their side, so did Dave and Connor, the Afghanimals and the Singers find that their efforts were better utilized together to defeat the maniacal Brenchel than alone. Three may be a crowd, but it's certainly a better alternative than having no company when you come in last.
Stunningly, this iteration of The Amazing Race has seen very little backstabbing or coercion by team members compared to past seasons. While some teams pledged to be nice no matter what cost, it was those who chose backstabbing allegiance that survived. Whether this globetrotting triumvirate makes it to the final leg together remains to be seen. But just in their mere grouping, these teams' battle hopes are...

As I interview The Globetrotters, they're doing what they do best: Trotting the globe. Nate "Big Easy" Lofton and Herb "Flight Time" Lang were eliminated from "The Amazing Race" All-Stars" on last Sunday's episode. It was the third time they've been on "The Amazing Race" and the third time they've gone home without winning, which you'd think would sting for a pair of basketball players who, by nature of their professional affiliation, never lose. Actually, you probably wouldn't think that if you've paid attention to Flight Time & Big Easy, who have earned the right to compete thrice on "Amazing Race" by virtue of their unflagging enthusiasm and their eagerness to entertain both viewers at home and every passer-by at every international location. Flight Time & Big Easy like to make people smile when they're on "The Amazing Race" and when they're not being followed by CBS cameras, they're usually still on the road making people smile.

There isn't a ton of blame to toss around at teams on the eighth leg of The Amazing Race: All-Stars, unless you want to get on David and Connor for seeming to forget that the competition was made up of six teams and not just one giant one.
Sure, there were some questionable decisions made, but at the end of the day, the general ineptitude of the Globetrotters overshadowed any minor little screw-ups the other teams committed. It didn't have to be that way, though, as the father-son duo basically held the hands of the country singers and the Afghanimals through all the challenges and sealed Flight Time and Big Easy's fate. Not that they would've noticed.

I don't know if you've heard me mention this lately, but I hate the Double U-Turn. I say the same thing every season. I debated it with executive producer Elise Doganieri, who smiled and ignored me. If you get to the U-Turn and discover you've been U-Turned, you should be bounced directly to the other side of the Detour. When you get sent directly to jail in Monopoly, you've been sent Directly To Jail. You don't get to collect the $200 if you happen to pass Go, because it occurred in the process of the act that was sending you to Jail. The second the card says "Go to Jail," you've been boomeranged on your way to Jail. Period. Full stop. If you hit the U-Turn mat and you've been U-Turned... Boing. Off to the other Detour with you. The first act is to step on the mat and see if you've been U-Turned.

Every once in a while, I like for somebody on "The Amazing Race" to really impress me. And I'm easily impressed. When the Hockey Brothers were throwing casks over their shoulders and running up hills? That impressed me. Heck, when Mark put together that car with the instructions in a language he couldn't understand? That impressed me. Sunday (April 13) night's confusing episode of "The Amazing Race" offered a low bar for achievement: I wanted somebody to know Roman Numerals. For what it's worth, *I* don't know Roman Numerals. Well, I know some Roman Numerals, but usually I know them if I can work backwards to some degree. Like if I'm looking at a motion picture copyright date, I usually have a vague sense of when the movie was released and I can figure out the actual date from that. So when it comes to Roman Numerals, I don't impress myself,...

If you ask me for a preference between Country Blondes Jennifer and Caroline, I'll always go with punchy, pint-sized Caroline, she of the reliable zingers and ace comic timing. But Jennifer had the smartest observation in Sunday (March 30) night's "Amazing Race." Musing on why this season has been difficult, Jennifer noted, "Nobody makes mistakes." That's not exactly true. Natalie & Nadiya couldn't find a wedding dress shop in China over several hours and they went home. Mark & Mallory went back to get Mark's bag and they went home. Joey & Meghan didn't tell their driver to stay at a Roadblock and they went home. And last week, Margie & Luke couldn't get tickets for a good flight leaving Kuala Lumpur and they went home. At least in the early-going of this "All-Stars" season, it hasn't been that nobody's been making mistakes, but it's certainly been the case that, generally speaking, it's been nearly...

Sunday (March 23) night's installment of "The Amazing Race" came down to one decision made in the first 15 minutes of the episode. I'm not saying there was a "right" answer or a "wrong" answer in the moment, but the choice was made early and once it was made -- incorrectly, as it turned out -- there was nothing left to the episode and what followed was a 45-minute anti-climax. That's too bad, because this was perhaps the first episode of the season that was well-structured in terms of Detours and Roadblocks, featuring difficult tasks that had the chance to shake things up in terms of team placement. I write "had the chance to," because they didn't. This week's Top 4 was last week's Top 4. And last week's Top 4 was 3/4ths of the previous week's Top 4. We've had five Legs so far, which means 20 Top 4 finishes. The teams now in the Top 4 have *15* of those finishes.

Mark it down: On Sunday, March 16 at somewhere around 8:50 p.m. Et, after annoying seasons of “Big Brother” and four episodes into their second season of “The Amazing Race,” I found myself liking Brendon & Rachel. Look, I’m not proud of myself and it really didn’t last for very long -- perhaps only a minute, in fact -- but this blog is about nothing if it’s not about absolutely honesty. So if I ever try saying, “I’ve always hated Rachel & Brendon,” you can now call me a liar, because there it was, the moment that I warmed to Brendon & Rachel. And that totally justifies their presence on this “All-Stars” season of “The Amazing Race.” No? Oh well. Did it at least justify Sunday’s episode of “The Amazing Race”? No, again? Oh well. There's going to be some debate about this one, and honestly, I went back and forth before deciding to go with my gut, no matter how much disagreement there might be. The Amazing Race: All-Stars week three U-Turn Award goes to the team that came in first place, even though the team that finished in dead last also committed an egregious mistake.
But before we get into why David and Connor's error was so much more dangerous, let's take a look back at the other screwups in "Welcome to the Jungle." That's right, baby. You're (race chances are) gonna die.

I suppose that certain factors on "The Amazing Race" are out of the control of the producers. If your teams are in China and you're determined to get them to Malaysian Borneo, if there are only two evening flights, there are only two evening flights. And if there's a three-hour gap between the arrival of the two flights, then there's a three-hour gap between the arrival of the two flights. And if there are only six tickets available on the first flight or perhaps only three tickets available on the second, then that's just what it is. But if you then design a Leg in which the Roadblock is a straight-forward one-at-a-time task and the Detour includes at least one option that requires basically no effort at all, you've constructed a Leg in which six teams have almost limitless margins-for-error and the other three teams have no margin-for-error at all...

Season 24 of "The Amazing Race" started on Sunday (February 23) night with an episode that inverted the show's ideal momentum. There was a shocking, sad and emotional twist before we got to the opening credits, but then 50 minutes later, the episode concluded without any cursory effort at creating suspense or tension. And the editors couldn't have created tension even if they wanted to, as the "All-Stars" season began with a purely designed Leg featuring two needle-in-a-haystack -- not especially big haystacks, either -- plus a Roadblock that failed to inject even an iota of difficulty into the game. For a season that was already plagued by skepticism regarding the "favorite" status of several of the team selections, this was not an ideal premiere, now was it? I'd love to have more to talk about from Sunday's hour, but it wasn't well-suited for recapping, either. I'll do my best after the break,...

In some of its best seasons, Survivor thrives on making its strong competitors look silly. Players talk about being in control and running the show, then they’re immediately booted by the “weaker” contestants. This trend rarely happens on The Amazing Race, which frequently has teams dominate the seasons. There are notable exceptions like the Beekmans’ win last season, but it isn’t uncommon to watch a team roll through challenges and stay near the top of the pack. The audience believes the smart and physically capable players will do well, especially in the race’s first half. Those expectations have been thrown out the window in the 22nd installment. “Scorpion King Hunter”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
This week’s Amazing Race opens with an apology for insensitivity towards Vietnam veterans in last week’s episode. Phil’s statement is a response to an outcry led by Fox News that included calls to boycott the series. While those claims seem over the top, it spotlights a challenge for a show that’s moving so quickly through other cultures. A downed B-52 bomber was used as the backdrop for a clue, and a goofy song described the wonders of socialism. The current version of this competition plays out so quickly and rarely takes a breath to consider whether it’s cheapening the countries on display. This standard may be unfair for a reality competition, but that’s the challenge for a show that’s using aspects of these locations. While the apology is understandable,...

After Dave & Connor pulled out of the race last week, the remaining seven teams got a reprieve from Philimination on "The Amazing Race." This proved a saving grace for Chuck & Wynona. This week, the married couple redeemed themselves with a solid leg and an impressive third place finish.
That said, they could have come in last again and avoided elimination, as this was a non-elimination leg. This time around, it was the saving grace for Max & Katie, who fell from second place last week to last place this week.
By far the most entertaining aspect of the episode, though, was the scorpion handling. They were working with natives who showed caution, but no fear of the poisonous animals. They went so far as to put the scorpions in their mouths. Teams didn't have to perform this feat, but they did have to hold the animal in their hand and put it in a jar.

The question on everybody's mind these past few weeks on "The Amazing Race," has been: just how long are Connor and Dave going to keep racing? The father-son duo has been racing with an injury for two legs, and still managed to come in first on both of those legs.
This week, however, Dave revealed that his doctor told him he needed to get in for surgery within seven days. And so they made the difficult decision to go to the mat and end their time on the race.
Buddy TV felt this entire plot was handled in a rather manipulative way. "Unless I am mistaken, this is new information, Buddy TV wrote. "Information deliberately held back by the show to make us tune in to this very unfortunate saga."
RealityWanted didn't seem bothered by the new information from that standpoint. They were just sad to see the pair go,...

Week five of The Amazing Race saw an early favorite go home. Unfortunately, fan favorites Dave and Connor had to bow out of the competition, which will have a big impact on the likeability rankings moving forward. Chuck and Wynona came in last place, but caught a break with Dave and Connor leaving the race early. Some alliances have broken and teams are out for revenge. We could start seeing their true colors coming out.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 4
“I Love Monkeys!”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Only four episodes have passed, but this is shaping up to be one of the strangest installments in Amazing Race history. The season began with three teams quitting a Roadblock and was followed by a pair giving up due to a fear of water. David and Connor still win the two-part leg despite the fact that David has a ruptured Achilles. All of these are crazy examples, but they pale in comparison to the baffling conclusion this week. John and Jessica have clearly been one of the strongest teams in this competition. He seems bored by just avoiding elimination and has been focusing on alliances and other strategy. They earned the Express Pass in the opening week, but it ends up being the crutch that spells their downfall. The key with this reward is...

Much ado is made about those poor "Survivor" contestants who've been voted out of the game while holding onto a Hidden Immunity Idol. "The Amazing Race" had no equivalent boneheaded move until this week. Jessica & John were strong front-runners, having picked up an Express Pass by winning the first leg of the race. This week, Jessica wondered time and again if they should use it.
But as they fell further and further from the front of the pack, John kept insisting that it simply made no sense to use it. Believe it or not, he kept up that attitude until they were the last team still competing, and still he determined to finish out the last task without even using the Express Pass to simply end the leg.
After waiting for hours, they finally finished the task and arrived at the mat. Phil was openly stunned by what he'd just witnessed.

The Amazing Race is really starting to heat up as another team was sent home this week. John and Jessica have been the next team eliminated with Dave and Connor finishing in first place despite Dave?s injury. Maybe not, let?s take a look at where these teams rank in terms of their likeability to fans.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 3
“Like James Bond Again”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
When 58-year-old David O’Leary apparently ruptured his Achilles tendon at the end of last week’s leg, his quick departure felt certain. How could he possibly continue? The guy is in excellent shape, but this type of injury is no joke. The Amazing Race requires great stamina and speed, and there’s little chance he can skip every physical challenge. This week, the doctors confirm that David ruptured his Achilles and the muscle around it, so they seem doomed. However, crutches and a walking boot allow him to continue. They’re living on borrowed time, but it’s remarkable they can even keep going. John and Jessica help out with the Express Pass, which sends them first to the mat. The young couple wisely sees a solution to their dilemma with handing out the prize.

It was a difficult leg for Dave and Connor. The father-and-son duo had come in second during last week's leg of "The Amazing Race," but in doing so, Dave was pretty sure he'd ruptured his achilles tendon. This week, Jessica and John decided to stay true to their word, and gave Dave and Connor the coveted Express Pass. This after Dave found out that he had actually torn his muscle.
Nevertheless, the cancer survivors vowed to continue on in the race, with Dave hobbling along on crutches and with a boot on his foot. They figured they wouldn't be able to stay in the race for long, but were determined to hang in there as long as they could. And thanks to the Express Pass, they actually secured a first-place finish.
Buddy TV applauded the team, but HitFix wonderd if it was fair that they continue in a race they really can't win.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 2
“Loose Lips Sink Ships”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
When did taking the penalty become so common on The Amazing Race? Two episodes into this season, players seem very interested in avoiding tasks. Idries and Jamil barely slip into the water and they’re ready to take a six-hour penalty. Their fear of water and limited swimming abilities make diving for pearls nearly impossible. While their struggles are understandable, they seem far too willing to give up right away. They eventually give the Detour a shot, but it’s their passive approach that raises warning signs. By the time they switch to the other option, the gap is too large. Apparently, picking them to win the race was not a wise idea. They’re hardly the only players who struggle, however. Three teams took a penalty last week, and several others grumble through this leg.

Heartbreak at the mat on "The Amazing Race" for father-son team Dave and Connor. They were in a foot race for first place in only the second leg of the race when Dave slowed down dramatically. Connor had been pushing for his father to pick up the pace when Dave suddenly felt a pain and immediately knew what it was. At the very least, he's pretty sure he ruptured his achilles tendon.
They still managed a solid second place finish, but now the worry is that their time on the Race may come to an end due to injury. Jessica and John, who have both Express Passes, were immediately thinking about game play. They'd made a pact last week to give their second Pass to the team in their alliance who'd finished that leg second. That team happened to be Dave and Connor.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 1
“Business in the Front, Party in the Back”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Each new premiere of The Amazing Race brings its own share of excitement and questions. Will the cast have exciting characters? Will the challenges stand apart from the standard formula? Will the producers offer new twists that change the game? All three of these boxes haven’t been checked as often in recent seasons. There have been thrilling challenges and standout players, yet the results have been inconsistent. This new group is filled with lively teams that have their own unique stories, but the challenges dominate the opener. A brutal Roadblock pushes three pairs to take a four-hour penalty and choose a dangerous boat race to the Pit Stop. While the risk pays off for two of them, it sends firefighters Matthew and Daniel right to elimination. The well-meaning...

Amazing Race 22 Preview
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Premieres February 17
Can The Amazing Race still be surprising? With the long-running reality competition entering its 22nd season, the chance for major changes seems unlikely. There will be unpredictable moments, but the overall structure remains the same. The producers have tried to throw in new twists to liven up the game, but they’re one-time events that rarely make a dent. For example, last season upped the ante to $2 million, but only for the team that won the opening leg. Once Abbie and Ryan left the game, that move disappeared from memory.
Even without structural changes, there’s still plenty to like with this show. It’s consistently entertaining and sends its 11 teams through difficult challenges all over the world. The set-up is so good that it’s impossible not to wish for the best from every season. So much...

Cowboys Jet,Cord & more to return for 'Amazing Race 18'. According to E! Online, cowboys Jet & Cord will definitely be returning for the "Unfinished Business" edition of the "Amazing Race 18," scheduled to air in February. They say that when Amazing Race 18 makes its debut on February 20th, Cowboys Jet and Cord McCoy from season 16 will be competing once again for the million dollar prize. They made it really far in their season,so it should be interesting to see how they do for a 2nd time. Other fan favorites that were mentioned in Sunday night's tease of the new season, were season 17's Brooke and Claire, Princeton singers Jonathan Schwartz and Connor Diemand-Yauman, Kentucky beauty queen Mallory Ervin and her dad, Gary, and Kevin Wu and his dad Michael.

Last night’s finale of the seventeenth edition of The Amazing Race was not the most dramatic in series history.
Nat and Kat’s victory, while certainly awesome to see, was unfortunately predictable as their lead grew, impressively, throughout the episode.
What the season lacked in drama in the final leg it more than made up for it with an unusually likable cast. Only a handful of contestants were the kind you actively root against and even those were tamed by The Amazing Race standards. Instead we were treated to a cast without a dominant group, but one that was easy to root for.
Take the final three contestants from last night. Most people were likely rooting for either Nat and Kat or Brook and Claire. Does this mean that Jill and Thomas were not likable? Ok, perhaps they were not our favorites, but they were a very deserving team if they did win,...
