Forget the fear of flying. In the upcoming six-episode thriller “Nightsleeper,” the real danger awaits on a train travelling from Glasgow to London.
“When we were developing the show, we got all these experts in one room and asked: ‘How do you hack a train?’ An hour later, they said: ‘This is scary. We could easily do it now, between ourselves’,” says writer Nick Leather.
“We will do for trains what ‘Jaws’ did for sharks.”
Produced by Fremantle’s Euston Films and set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2024, “Nightsleeper” is directed by Jamie Magnus Stone and John Hayes.
While Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra Roach) at the U..K’s National Cyber Security Centre is trying her best to stop the train, some remaining passengers also join forces – including off-duty cop Joe Roag (“Peaky Blinders” actor Joe Cole). But they only have six hours and one satellite phone.

Can two people who’ve never met, one on the train and one not, work together to save the lives of its disparate group of passengers as the Heart of Britain overnight service hurtles towards what might quite literally be its final destination?
Alexandra Roach (The Light in the Hall) and Joe Cole (Gangs of London) lead the cast of the suspense thriller, written by BAFTA award-winning writer Nick Leather (Murdered For Being Different) from Fremantle’s Euston Films, coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2024.

On Tuesday, Danny Brocklehurst’s “Ten Pound Poms” won the Golden Nymph award for best series at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. Lead actors Faye Marsay and Warren Brown sat down with Variety during the festival to discuss the show.
The co-production between the U.K.’s BBC and the Australian streaming service Stan follows a group of Brits as they leave dreary post-war Britain in 1956 to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world. For only 10 British pounds, they have been promised a better house, better job prospects, and a better quality of life by the sea in sun-soaked Australia. But life down under isn’t exactly the idyllic dream the new arrivals have been promised.
Actor Faye Marsay, who was in “McMafia” and is in “Star Wars” spin-off “Andor,” said that this episode in recent British history has rarely been explored there. “It’s actually...

Welcome to the end of Thirteen’s existence. It’s time for the Doctor to do battle with the forces that mass against her, and their Master… The BBC has confirmed that Jodie Whittaker’s farewell adventure ‘The Power of the Doctor’ will air on Sunday the 23rd of October on BBC One.
That puts the Special exactly one year and one month away from Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary on the 23rd of November 2023, when former showrunner Russell T Davies will be back in the driving seat and is expected to introduce Ncuti Gatwa as the 14th Doctor (as well as reintroducing a host of welcome and familiar faces).
Thirteen is going out with a bang, by the looks of the latest trailer, which features regulars Mandip Gill, John Bishop and Jacob Anderson as Yaz, Dan and Vinder, alongside Jemma Redgrave as Unit’s Kate Stewart.

When Jodie Whittaker regenerates during Doctor Who’s BBC Centenary special this autumn, we’ll be saying goodbye to one of the series’ most beloved and memorable incarnations of the infamous timelord.
The first ever female Doctor, Jodie was also voted the fans’ second favourite Doctor of all time in a 2020 Radio Times poll, but her reign hasn’t been without controversy. From debates on whether there should even be a female Doctor (spoiler alert: there should) to series 13 having three episodes cut due to the Covid-19 pandemic, plus the show’s producers defending lower-than-usual ratings, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for the Thirteenth Doctor.
Just what is in store for Whittaker’s final episode?

Warning: contains Series 12 and ‘Revolution of the Daleks’ spoilers.
Change has long been a constant of Doctor Who, and series 13 is no different. This time around, the changes have largely been rung in by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The virus has concertinaed the Doctor’s next arc, shrinking the new series down from a planned eleven episodes to eight. It’s also recently infected brand new companion John Bishop, who has been filming on the series since November (best wishes for a speedy recovery).
From companions to rumoured returning monsters, writers, directors and Jodie Whittaker’s possible departure, here’s what we might expect from series 13…

Following Ryan and Graham’s decision to jump ship in ‘Revolution of the Daleks’, it was announced that comedian and actor John Bishop is taking their place in the Tardis next series as new character Dan.

It’s been a whole year to the day since Doctor Who was on our screens, with the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends last seen facing a Dalek on New Year’s Day 2019. The hype has been high for the season 12 premiere, then, with fans excited to not only see more of Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord again but also hoping that the new run would provide more of what season 11 did right and improve on some of its shortcomings. And on the back of tonight’s ambitious, shocking opener, all the signs are pointing to season 12 pulling that off.
As the title makes abundantly clear, “Spyfall” – part one of two – is Doctor Who self-consciously doing a James Bond pastiche. As you’d expect, writer Chris Chibnall gets to have some fun checking off all the things a Bond film needs to include – the pre-credits scene, the debriefing, getting the gadgets,...

Exclusive: Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall has promised fans that season 12 is going to open with the biggest and most ambitious episode ever of the BBC sci-fi drama.
Chibnall told Deadline that Jodie Whittaker’s Tardis-travelling time lord will be thrown into action in a “movie-like” two-part curtain-raiser called Spyfall, which will premiere on BBC One and BBC America on January 1, 2020.
“Episode one is probably the biggest episode of Doctor Who we’ve done, or has been done, I would imagine. Physically, there’s a lot of stunts, there’s a lot of locations, it’s a globe-trotting action thriller,” he said. “But you don’t want to lose sight of character and intimacy and emotion. They join three writers who worked on Doctor Who last season: Vinay Patel (Murdered By My Father), Ed Hime (Skins), and Pete McTighe (Wentworth). It means there was an even split of male and female writers who worked on season 12.
In addition to the writers, four new directors got to grips with Jodie Whittaker’s time lord: Nida Manzoor (Enterprice), Emma Sullivan (Call the Midwife), Jamie Magnus Stone (Orbit Ever After) and Lee Haven Jones (Vera).

The Tardis has today swung open its midnight-blue doors to a host of new writers (and directors!) in anticipation of Doctor Who season 12.
Per DoctorWhoTV, the BBC has welcomed three new recruits – namely Nina Metivier, Maxine Alderton, and Charlene James – to the writer’s room, each of whom will join the existing scribes from series 11, including Vinay Patel (“Demons of The Punjab”), Ed Hime (“It Takes You Away”), and Pete McTighe (“Kerblam!”).
Beyond script duties, we also have confirmation that four new directors have climbed aboard for Doctor Who series 12: Nida Manzoor, Emma Sullivan, Jamie Magnus Stone, and Lee Haven Jones. Current showrunner Chris Chibnall has also penned four episodes of Doctor Who‘s latest adventure, and welcomed this new wave of creative talent with open arms.

Orbit Ever After is a wonderfully told sci-fi short film about taking crazy risks for love... in space. The short follows a young man named Nigel, who is played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones and the Maze Runner), who ends up falling in love. But, as the story description says, "when you live in orbit, aboard a ramshackle space hovel with the most risk-averse family imaginable, it isn't easy to follow your heart - especially when the girl of your dreams is spinning around earth the wrong way!"
The film comes from writer and director Jamie Magnus Stone and I absolutely loved how the story played out. It's a fantastically imaginative short and I really dug the visual style! I liked how everything was so grungy and makeshift. It has a very Terry Gilliam-style vibe to it and that added on to the uniqueness of the story that the film told.

Georgina Campbell, recently nominated for a BAFTA for her role in BBC Three's Murdered By My Boyfriend, stars alongside the Inbetweeners' Blake Harrison in a new comedy drama for E4 called Tripped.
Blake Harrison leads the cast as Danny, an average 24-year-old who has decided it’s time to grow up, settle down and marry long-term girlfriend Kate, played by Georgina Campbell, but his childhood friend Milo has other ideas and continues to focus on getting high.
23 year old George Webster (represented by Curtis Brown), who recently starred alongside Evanna Lynch in Irish romantic drama, My Name is Emily, plays Danny's stoner best friend Milo.
One night Milo takes a particularly strong batch of hallucinogens, and Danny appears in his living room - except the real Danny’s at his engagement party, and the real Danny doesn’t normally carry a sword! This Danny claims to come from another dimension,...
