A coalition of top creators has come together to ease audiences through the inevitable isolation and loneliness that are bound to arise as people settle into a new normal of social distancing and quarantine. And they’re harnessing Facebook's myriad tools to do so.

Launching this year, the production company will see creators teaming with experts in various social impact areas to create content in order to promote a better, more sustainable world. Details are still scant, though you can check out the videos that the company has already produced on its dedicated Facebook page.

Vlogmas, a grueling YouTube tradition in which creators -- typically lifestyle and family vloggers -- commit to posting every day during the month of December until Christmas, is already in full swing. However, this year’s iteration has arrived with something of a twist.
Rather than sharing daily videos on YouTube -- something of a Herculean feat during the frenetic holiday season -- creators like Shane Dawson and Kandee Johnson have ported their Vlogmas efforts over to Instagram Stories, where content is generally less polished and vastly easier to compose.
The fact that Dawson, who has become a pioneer of the YouTube format in recent months, has made the move to Instagram and Snapchat for Vlogmas is telling in several. It codifies the fact that creators have increasingly come to see their YouTube channels as venues for prestigious content -- even in the realm of docu-style vlogs -- while Stories are decidedly less consequential.

In a new interview with popular YouTuber Caspar Lee, YouTube’s chief business officer Robert Kyncl addresses a host of concerns from creators, touching on topics including monetization challenges, Channel Memberships, and burnout.
Lee bluntly asks Kyncl why, back in February, YouTube took monetization away from small creators with fewer than 1,000 subscribers or fewer than 4,000 hours of annual watch time. He points out that, in contrast, big creators with more than 50,000 subscribers not only have AdSense monetization, but have recently been given other avenues through which to monetize their viewership (including those Channel Memberships and below-player merch shelves).
“Ninety-nine percent of all creators affected by that were making less than $100 per year,” Kyncl says, referring to February’s ‘demonetization day.’ He adds that YouTube chose those thresholds to demonetize due to complaints from YouTubers that smaller channels, primarily run by content farms, were reuploading creators' original videos and “effectively stealing their revenue.

Ethan and Hila Klein, the couple behind one of YouTube’s most popular commentary channels, h3h3productions, are back after a three-month-long break with a frank video about their struggles over the past year.
In the video, Ethan says the past year or so — during which they’ve faced revenue breakdown and a Dmca lawsuit they ultimately won after incurring massive legal fees — has been the hardest time of their lives. It all came to a head three months ago, when he realized he was “actually depressed,” and that his mental health had deteriorated to a point where, “I literally could not make any more videos. I just hit a wall where it had gotten so bad that it was basically either stop making videos, or disappear forever,” he says.

Seminal beauty vlogger Kandee Johnson has returned to YouTube after a two-month absence from her channel -- the longest break that she has taken since launching the venture roughly a decade ago.
Johnson, who is known for her transformational makeup abilities, attributed the break to the loss of four family members within the span of a year, and also said that she has felt creatively tapped out. Johnson also cited a breakup, health issues, and technical glitches on her YouTube channel, which led to her videos being undiscoverable. “I don't want to be losing sleep editing a video and then I can’t even see it myself on my own channel,” said the 40-year-old mother of four. “So that was making it super frustrating.”

Yikes. Fans were so excited on May 8 when Kat Von D revealed that she was expecting her first child, but that excitement quickly turned to horror on June 7 when she announced that she's anti-vaccination, and refused to immunize her baby. Now, former fans of her beauty products are saying they never plan to buy from her company again. "I was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy," said Kat, going on to explain that she was sick of having people roast her for "being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child." And most fans were with her up until that point, since those are personal choices regarding just you and your child, and no one likes a mom-shamer.

Wtf. Veteran meteorologist and local television host Dave Scott of Ksui-San Diego recently delivered the most awkward newscast of all time, and we legitimately can't stop thinking about it. The 3-minute long segment involved inflatables, bored bystanders, and a magic chant that would even confuse Hermione Granger. But, let's start from the beginning. Dave reported on the Inflatable Run and Festival in San Diego, CA, and started off by asking the camera — or supposedly his co-anchors back at the studio — what "inflation" meant to them. "Is inflation in our world a good thing or not a good thing?" he questioned. Next came a 10-second bout of silence, and to be honest, for live TV, it felt like an eternity. (Photo Credit: YouTube) A co-anchor finally asked Dave to repeat the question, to which Dave asked again about whether or not inflation is a good thing. "It depends on what the topic is,...

It's over...for now. YouTube stars David Dobrik and Liza Koshy announced their split during a video titled, "We Broke Up," on June 4 — although they officially called it quits six months ago.
So, why did David and Liza break up? For a few reasons, actually. "All jokes aside, we are broken up. Liza broke up with me," David said. "It wasn't healthy for us to continue to be together, for now." Liza — who is going through some "rough stuff" at the moment — said she needs to start loving herself before she can love anyone else, but made sure to note that she still considers David her best friend.
"Basically, what we're trying to say is that we're friends," she explained. Liza and David were together for two years and consistently appeared in each other's adventurous and comedic videos, so fans of the couple were completely devastated to hear the news.

She's already basically American royalty, but Kim Kardashian proved that she's a real-life princess on May 29 when makeup influencer Kandee Johnson transformed her into a live-action Princess Jasmine from Aladdin!
