Cara Delevingne is taking on a big role for her West End debut. She will play Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.
She will replace rapper and performer Self Esteem (aka Rebecca Lucy Taylor), who is set to play her final performance on March 9.
“There are no words to explain the excitement I have to return home to make my stage debut in such an iconic role. I am so inspired by the brilliant actors who have played Sally in past productions around the world and in this one in the West End. I cannot wait to be a part of this brilliant cast and production.”
Joining her is Luke Treadaway, who will replace Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears as the Emcee.
The pair will join Michael Ahomka-Lindsay, who plays Cliff Bradshaw in the production Beverley Klein (Fraulein Schneider) and Teddy Kempner (Herr Schultz). Nic Myers plays...

Exclusive: Comedic multi-hyphenate Julio Torres (A24’s Problemista) has struck a deal with Ars Nova, the Off-Broadway, non-profit theater in NYC, that will see them partner to identify, develop, and commission full-length projects from early-career comedy artists.
The collaboration further expands Ars Nova’s two-decade commitment to new comedy at a time when support systems for NYC-based artists have decreased. Under the partnership, Torres and Ars Nova will look to provide comedians with opportunities for development and production outside of the traditional model of sketch shows and 10-minute sets. They’ll offer funding up front to create brand new, uniquely theatrical shows, while providing mentorship and development resources to the artists involved, the first set for a commission being Ars Nova Vision Residency Alum River L. Ramirez. Others will be announced at a later date.
To celebrate the alliance, Torres will return to the Ars Nova stage on October 26 to host Showgasm.

The Drama League today announced the nominations for the 2023 Drama League Awards. Honoring achievements on and Off-Broadway, the nominations were announced this morning by Roger Bart (“Back to the Future: The Musical”) and Justin Guarini (“Once Upon A One More Time”) at the New York Library for the Performing Arts. Winners will be revealed at the 89th Annual Drama League Awards ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Friday, May 19, 2023.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced a theater season in New York ever like this one,” noted Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks. “There’s been a range, a breadth, an expansion of possibility that has been truly astonishing to witness. Theater makers have inspired not only with their creativity, but also with their drive and determination to serve audiences with vision and talent. These nominees reflect the promise and greatness inherent in the work of theater folk, and I can’t help but be deeply proud.

Almost everything about The Bushwick Starr and The Public Theater’s sold-out Off-Broadway production Dark Disabled Stories, written by and starring Ryan J. Haddad, has been an attempt at access-oriented storytelling. The single caveat to this needle-moving stage production is proudly highlighted by the show’s main character, a fictionalized version of Haddad. At one point during this series of vignettes, “Ryan” tells non-disabled audience members this is not, in fact, a story designed for them. “Not everything is accessible to us,” Haddad says. “So why should we make everything accessible to you?”
The twist — and one of the major successes — of this series of autobiographical monologues is that it ultimately is accessible to all because accessibility is not just tacked on. It’s aesthetic, a likely surprise to both disabled and non-disabled audiences in its ingenuity and utility. It’s a meaningful effort, especially for those who have been historically excluded from enjoying theater,...

Exclusive: Life is literally a Cabaret for Aimee Lou Wood, star of Netflix comedy Sex Education and awards season movie Living, who is rehearsing to make her West End musical debut as Sally Bowles in the radical revival of the classic show by John Kander and Fred Ebb.
Wood joins John McCrea, who was the original Jamie in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at The Sheffield Crucible and in London, and is taking on the role of the Emcee.
They begin their performances in director Rebecca Frecknall’s production of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Charing Cross from February 13.
Wood says that she suffered from stage fright when she was a kid — “shyness and fear” stopped her from performing. “I couldn’t get up and sing in front of anyone,” she recalls. That was until she hit 16 and picked Maybe This Time, a number from Cabaret, to perform during...

The new documentary "Return to Mount Kennedy" is among five finalists for the Big Sky Award at the 2019 Big Sky Film Festival in Missoula, Montana. The film makes its Montana premiere on February 20th, with director Eric Becker in attendance. The film is in excellent company--the other four finalists are "Barstow California," by Rainer Komers; "The Blessing," from Hunter Robert Baker and Jordan Fein; "Fire on the Hill: Cowboys of South Central La," by Brett Fallentine; and "Stars in the Sky: A Hunting Story," from Steven Rinella. In 1965, Robert Kennedy was the first man to summit Mount Kennedy in the Yukon Territory, named in honor of his late brother. Leading that expedition was Jim Whitaker, the first American to summit Everest and original fulltime employee...

The Blessing, the latest from the Emmy Award-winning team of Hunter Robert Baker and Jordan Fein, is the story of a Navajo coal miner and single dad as well as his teenage daughter, who navigate life on their reservation in northern Arizona. Other than Erick Stoll and Chase Whiteside’s stealthy stunner América, I can’t think of another documentary I’ve seen this year in which the simplest of premises yields such an emotional powder keg. The film’s a nearly Shakespearean drama, one in which a deeply religious father is forced to choose between sacrilege (taking part in the destruction of his […]...
