Cast: Trish Stratus, Frank J. Zupancic, Boomer Phillips, Andrea James Lui, Joe Rafla
Of all the many and varied action movie subgenres, my favorite is probably the no-nonsense, low-budget, direct-to-dvd action flick.
These movies are comforting, akin to cinematic junk food. They don't have to be good; they just have to deliver the goods. All that's really necessary are some gnarly fights and/or gunplay, a little skin and a few jokes from a reasonably attractive cast. If the filmmakers can provide these elements, wrapped in a story that moves briskly enough to prevent me from thinking about the inevitable plot holes, then I'm a happy man.
Sadly, with the passing of the golden age of the video store, as well as the rusty age of Lorenzo Lamas and Steven Seagal, this once ubiquitous type of movie is rapidly becoming scarce. But it's not entirely dead yet,...

Trish Stratus puts her trademark moves on justice-fleeing fugitives in Bounty Hunters.
Let me start by saying that if I had to be tracked down and nabbed by some fortune-seeking mercenary, I wouldn’t mind if my pursuer was seven-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus as seen in her action movie debut Bounty Hunters.
Originally entitled Bail Enforcers, the 2011 film finds a group of down-on-their-luck bounty hunters, led by Jules Taylor (Stratus), hitting the jackpot one night when they pick up an informant with $100,000 on his head. But their world is quickly turned upside down when a gangland boss (Joe Rafla) offers them a million dollars in exchange for their bounty. When Jules and her partners refuse, the mob unleashes a trio of assassins to bring the bounty hunters down, and to get their man – dead or alive.

The Sweet Karma Trailer has premiered. Andrew Thomas Hunt‘s Sweet Karma (2009) movie trailer stars Shera Bechard, John Tokatlidis, Frank J. Zupancic, Christian Bako, and Laura McLean. Sweet Karma‘s plot synopsis: “Sweet Karma…follows Karma Balint a shy, mute Russian girl whose sister Anna left for Canada with bright hopes of making some money for the two of them. When Karma discovers that Anna’s body has been found in the woods, the apparent victim of a Russian mafia hit, Karma sets off to infiltrate the criminal underworld to avenge her sister. Her journey takes her through the twisted underbelly of society leaving behind death and mayhem in her wake.”
This film looks as though it has a little Enter the Void, mixed with some elements from Taken, Human Trafficking, and X. The mute angle should throw a twist on how Karma Balint communicates with people she does not know.

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films.
Director: Andrew Thomas Hunt.
Writers: James Fler, Michael Paszt and Andrew Thomas Hunt.
Canadians continually get a bad wrap in film. In Phase 4 Film's Sweet Karma, Canadians are drug peddlers, rapists and extortionists. However, many of the characters in Sweet Karma are illegal immigrants, so you obviously cannot make a sweeping generalization of all Canadians. Although there are a few bad apples (non-hockey fans) north of the border. In the film, which releases on DVD June 14th, Karma terrorizes an underworld Russian-born crime syndicate. Her method of terror involves seductive charm and a penchant for brutal violence.
Heroine and central character Karma (Shera Bechard) goes in search of her missing sister in Canada, from Russia. She believes that Anna (Patricia Stasiak) has been murdered by a group of street hustlers and pimps. Her introduction to the gang involves gunfire,...

Academy Consultants is proud to present the trailer (seen below) for their debut horror film of "Killer God" directed by Stasch Radwanski. “Killer God” stars Frank J. Zupancic as Officer Gord Cooper and Virginia Leigh as Charlize Elkin. Killer God has an array of striking visuals, a truly frightening looking villian that's sure to stand the test of time like the demons in Kevin Tenney's Night of the Demons and elements of the religion and the occult that have a "The Believers" or a "The Wicker Man" feel to them. With Killer God's ability to incorpate so many types of horror elements, it's sure to be a hairraising horror film.
In the snowy landscapes of a Canadian winter, sacred Balinese statues have been desecrated. Professor Rufus Elkin tries to stop the Balinese Gods from retaliating against those responsible for the crime, but he realizes that he is powerless...

The winters of Canada are horror enough, but director Stasch Radwanski has combined snowy elements with a Balinese killing god. The results are a thrilling independent feature called Killer God, that lets loose several mythical beings into the surrounding snowy landscape.
Killer God has finished shooting in Canada, while post-production promises a wrap on the film for May, 2011. A 2010 trailer is posted below, which will show viewers how waking a killing god from its hibernation is rarely a good idea.
Tagline:
"Revenge is a dish best served in the cold."
The synopsis for Killer God is here:
"Set in the wilds of a Canadian winter Killer God eerily follows the quest to find three antique Balinese statues that have been cleverly hidden by professor Rufus Elkin, an expert in Indonesian folklore. His fascination for the Balinese occult has caused some concern at the university in Toronto where he teaches and...

Bali - land of beautiful barely covered bodies, warm beaches, and calm seas. Why a professor went to snowy Canada to study Balanese mysticism is only the first of many questions we have after watching the trailer for upcoming indie release Killer God.
Our first look at Stasch Radwanski's Killer God produces more WTFs per second than anything we've seen in a while. Not too sure yet whether that's a good or a bad thing.
There appears to be a mystery afoot (jinkies!) involving a remote northern town that revolves around a series of masks. Blood starts flying early, but it's not clear if our killer is mystical or of the mortal coil. Guess we'll have to dig on the flick to find out.
Killer God, directed by Stasch Radwanski, stars Frank J. Zupancic and Virginia Leigh.
Dig on the eye candy below. For more visit the official Killer God website.
