Cobra Kai season 6: Netflix announces premiere dates for 15 episode, 3 part conclusion to the series
Production on the sixth and final season of the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, was delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes last year – but the extended wait is going to be worth it, because Netflix has just announced that the show is wrapping up with a 15 episode season (previous seasons consisted of 10 episodes), and they’re splitting the episodes up to make it a three part event! As they put it, “The end of a legacy… deserves a Grand Finale.” They’ve also revealed premiere dates: Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1 premieres July 18, 2024. Part 2 premieres November 28, 2024. The Finale Event comes in 2025.
I’m hyped to finally have premiere dates for most of the episodes, because this show has become one of my all-time favorites over the course of the previous five seasons. I grew up on the Karate Kid movies and always enjoyed them,...

And you thought waiting for the back half of a “Stranger Things” season was agonizing. Netflix is splitting the final season of “Cobra Kai,” Season 6, into three parts.
You read that right. Though it has become commonplace for Netflix to divide new seasons of its biggest hits into two parts, this is the first time the streamer has split a season (of any series) into thirds. The next-up example of a hit Netflix original being halved is mere weeks away. The eight-episode “Bridgerton” Season 3 will premiere the first four on May 16 and the back half on June 13.

The number of actors the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai has brought back to reprise their characters from the Karate Kid films has been very impressive. Not only do you have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka back as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, but there’s also Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith as villains John Kreese and Terry Silver, Yuji Okumoto and Sean Kanan as villains-turned-allies Chozen Toguchi and Mike Barnes; Ron Thomas, Rob Garrison, and Tony O’Dell as Johnny’s former Cobra Kai buddies; and appearances by Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. They even brought Traci Toguchi back as Yuna, the “Girl Bell Ringer” she played in The Karate Kid Part II. But one actor who might not be returning from the films is Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in the 1994 film The Next Karate Kid.

Netflix is ready to show you no mercy with the final chapter of the original Karate Kid universe as Cobra Kai gears up for season six. The popular series would suffer a bit of a delay when the dual strikes from the writers and actors brought Hollywood to a standstill, but like Mr. Miyagi’s secret method of healing injuries, the cast and crew rigorously rubbed their palms together to set the wounds and get back into the fight. The show is celebrating by releasing a video that commences the production of the final season, with the cast trying their best to contain their excitement and not give away any spoilers.

Rumor has it that Netflix was originally planning to release the sixth and final season of their hit series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, this month. The cast and crew were heading into production back in May (Netflix even released some table read footage) – but then the writers strike hit, causing filming to shut down. Then came the actors strike, which made sure it stayed shut down a while longer. But both of those strikes are now over, and cast member Courtney Henggeler has revealed that Cobra Kai season 6 is finally going to start filming / resume production next month!

Much like Daniel Larusso went from underdog to All-Valley karate champion, "Cobra Kai" has gone from a legasequel no one asked for or had too much faith in, to one of Netflix's biggest hits. The TV sequel to "Karate Kid" became a shining beacon amidst the fast-decaying YouTube Red streaming platform, offering a thrilling, compelling, and endlessly watchable story with complex characters and a fascinating story of legacy, rivalry, and generational patterns. All of this wrapped in a juicy karate-themed soap opera where everything and everyone revolved around the martial art.
When the show made the jump to Netflix, it became the closest thing to a live-action anime that we've got. Somehow, just like the "John Wick" movies revealed that the entire planet revolves around hitmen, "Cobra Kai" does the same with karate. Gangs are formed around competing dojos, no one seems to call the cops even when houses...

When the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai Crane kicks its way onto Netflix, it could leave some questions unanswered in the interest of continuing the story in possible spin-offs. Speaking with Collider‘s Perri Nemiroff, Cobra Kai showrunners Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald said “closure” isn’t part of their grand plan for the Miyagi-verse. This statement is bold in an entertainment landscape where fans typically like things wrapped up with a big, red bow. However, some stories can’t end in a universe with limitless potential.
Hinting at Cobra Kai spin-offs, Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald told Nemiroff, “We will never give actual closure when it comes to anything. We love working in the ‘Cobra Kai’ universe, so there’s always potential to revisit that world. We’re certainly thinking about other ideas within the Miyagi-verse, and it’s only a matter of time before...

As “1923” star Sebastian Roché and “Cobra Kai” star Alicia Hannah-Kim joined the tens of thousands of striking actors on the first day of the SAG-AFTRA strike in the hopes of eventually reaching a fair deal with the AMPTP, the couple hopes the strike brings global attention to the dangers of AI.
“The issue of AI is significant for our future, for the future of our industry, and actually, this is a global problem — this will affect workers all around the world,” Roché told TheWrap on the picket line outside of Fox Studios in Los Angeles. “They’re estimating that in the next five years 300 million jobs will be lost to AI, and it will apply to actors if we don’t fight to copyright our images — we can’t have our images be being used in perpetuity without getting paid for it.”

There was come old-school writer cred on the picket line outside the Fox lot in Century City today. David E. Kelley, he of the 11 Emmys and 30 nominations, is a veteran of multiple WGA strikes going back to 1988. Introducing himself as “David E. Kelley, old writer,” the Love & Death creator — whose many credits also include Big Little Lies, Big Sky, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Undoing, The Practice, Ally McBeal, and Picket Fences — told Deadline why he’s striking this time.
“All the strikes have had merits on the writer’s behalf, but this one more than any other,” said Kelley, holding a picket sign with “Sow Me The Data” handwritten on it. “This is a real unprecedented time, especially when it comes to sharing the data. When one side is not wanting to be forthcoming, that kind of tells you all you need to know.”

“Cobra Kai never dies” – that may be true, but all good things must come to an end, including the hit Netflix show that announced the upcoming sixth season will be its last. The series that has quickly become a cult classic (just like the original film) centers around the premise of karate and the two different styles/variations of the martial art that Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) teach to their students. Despite airing more than thirty years after the original movie premiered, Cobra Kai has risen to be one of Netflix’s top shows of all time and will be sorely missed by it’s beloved fans.
Despite the inevitable disappointment from fans who would love to see the series continue on, audiences can rest assured knowing that the sixth and final season will be bigger and better than all the others, as promised by the shows creators.

Alicia Hannah-Kim’s latest role as the first female sensei in Netflix’s Cobra Kai may give observers the false impression that she’s an overnight success.
But before her likeness was wrapped around a building in the famed Los Angeles shopping mall The Grove, she was waiting tables, auditioning, and dreaming of one day being the representation she lacked growing up in her native Australia.
Hannah-Kim, who is of Korean descent, recalls her difficult journey climbing that Hollywood ladder which includes having to turn down stereotypical roles, rejection, and thoughts of giving up before she got the call for Cobra Kai.
“Being an ‘overnight success’ is such a charming concept and so wholly untrue in my case. I have endless respect and solidarity with actors who are out there self-taping and auditioning into what feels like oblivion because I have been in those trenches for years,” Hannah-Kim tells Deadline.

This Cobra Kai article contains spoilers for season 5.
Cobra Kai has been one heck of a ride. Each season has navigated through a nearly forty-year-old feud, coupled with a teen soap opera while juggling bullying with romance, all thrown in with a copious helping of fight scenes. Throughout the series, Cobra Kai has delivered plenty of surprising twists and crazy cliffhangers.
Season 5 kept up its breakneck pace (and we do mean breakneck – remember how season 2 ended). This season’s finale was oddly parallel to last season’s finale, the villainous sensei gets taken away by the police, only this time it’s Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) instead of John Kreese (Martin Kove). All the beloved main characters put aside their rivalries to vanquish Silver, so once he’s busted, they can all live happily ever after, right? But wait! Kreese escaped jail. That will surely be a major plot point for next season.

Um, excuse me, What is the new Daniel/Johnny dojo name?
So much was jampacked into Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 9 and Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 10 that even I was having trouble breathing, but they left out that pesky little detail, and now we'll have to wait until season six to learn what this new blended dojo will be named and will look like.
But at least Silver is down and out, for now.
It was a solid finale, but it also felt like the storytelling stopped in the middle instead of at the end. In that sense, Cobra Kai Season 5 feels like a brief intermission until the rest is resolved.
We've grown so accustomed to tournaments and competitions factoring into finales that it feels odd that we'll have to wait until next year to even say what [Insert Dojo Name] joining Sekai Tekai even means.
And who will be a part of...

Netflix's teen karate sensation returns to the streaming giant with an epic season 5 that could easily serve as the show's overall conclusion. After a devastating loss at the All-Valley Tournament, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) have shuttered their dojos and are prepared to leave karate behind. With John Kreese (Martin Kove) in jail for assault, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is now in charge of Cobra Kai, and he's started to expand his empire throughout the San Fernando Valley.
Knowing first-hand how dangerous Terry can be, Daniel enlists an unlikely partner to protect his family from Silver. Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) travels all the way from Okinawa to come to Daniel's aid, and the former enemies conspire to bring down the ponytailed...

Less than a year after “Cobra Kai” Season 4 hit Netflix, the karate series is already back and aiming to outdo the crazy, kung-fu action of the 51st All Valley Tournament.
In the two-part Season 4 finale, Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) defeated Robby (Tanner Buchanan) to win the boys tournament for Miyagi-Do, but Cobra Kai walked away the ultimate winner after Tory (Peyton List) beat Sam (Mary Mouser). However, Tory later realizes her victory was rigged after she sees Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) bribe the referee. Meanwhile, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) runs away to Mexico to find his father, and Terry frames Kreese (Martin Kove), landing him in jail for a crime Terry committed.
After agreeing to close Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang after losing the tournament, Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) must finally put aside their differences and join forces to take down Terry, as he begins to open more Cobra Kai dojos in Southern California.

Netflix has released a batch of first-look images for Season 5 of Cobra Kai featuring The Karate Kid Part III star Sean Kanan returning to the ‘Miyagi-Verse’ as Mike Barnes, and Alicia Hannah-Kim’s debut as South Korean sensei, Kim Da-Eun.
“As Terry Silver [Thomas Ian Griffith] calls upon some old friends to put the Valley in a stranglehold, Daniel and Johnny are going to need all the help they can get to stop Cobra Kai in its tracks,” teased executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg about the new season at Netflix’s Tudum on Tuesday.
Mike was a villain in the third Karate Kid film but foes have become friends in the past. For example, Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) is now working with Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) to stop the bad guys. Would be a nice twist to see Mike ally with Daniel-son but everyone will have...

As audiences eagerly await the arrival of “Cobra Kai” Season 5 on Netflix next month, fans can whet their appetites with a slew of first-look images for the new season, including the return of yet another familiar face from “Karate Kid” lore.
Season 5 will welcome back Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes, who franchise devotees will remember as one of the main antagonists of “The Karate Kid III.” In that film, he was hired by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) to take down Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) in the All Valley Karate Championship. Later in Season 3 of “Cobra Kai,” Daniel tells his daughter Sam that Mike was the most ruthless fighter he ever faced off against. Nothing hits harder in “Cobra Kai” than nostalgia.
