Although his companions seem skeptical, Sara says she can hear the music box that’s shown up several times throughout the season. Boyd helps Sara search for it nearby to no avail, but then Sara pauses. “What’s wrong?” Boyd asks. “I can hear them screaming,” she replies, as blood oozes from her nose. Watch the clip above. ‘From’: Harold Perrineau Promises Even More Scares in Horror Mystery You Need to be Watching (Video)
The freaks definitely come out at night! From, the eerie and crazy-addictive horror-drama from the producers of Lost, is back and it turns out, the daytime isn’t too safe either! Set in a nameless town where the residents have been trapped by a malevolent force, local sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) must keep the peace — and his people safe — from feral nocturnal monsters. When we last saw these folks, a massive storm was heading to town where the locals were trying to activate a makeshift radio, and Boyd was somehow transported into the Faraway Tree while wandering the woods looking for an escape with the haunted, often-homicidal Sara (Avery Konrad). “And that is where Season 2 picks up,” the actor told us during a recent sit-down. “All hell breaks loose.” MGM+ He’s not kidding. The just-launched second chapter opened with the fallout from the violent weather pattern which came...

Stars: Angourie Rice, Gaten Matarazzo, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Armani Jackson, Avery Konrad | Written by David A. Goodman | Directed by Oran Zegman
Honor (Angourie Rice) is an ambitious high school senior whose sole focus is getting into an Ivy League college… assuming she can first score the coveted recommendation from her guidance counselor, Mr. Calvin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). Willing to do whatever it takes, Honor concocts a Machiavellian-like plan to take down her top three student competitors, until things take a turn when she unexpectedly falls for her biggest competition, Michael (Gaten Matarazzo).
By taking a quick look at all of the promotional material for Oran Zegman‘s Honor Society, one would be forgiven for thinking it’s a cute and sweet coming-of-age high-school comedy with little else to offer. In all reality, it is all that but it also comes packed with some surprisingly dark and highly emotional material that took me completely off-guard.

A nervy tale of accidental do-gooding, director Oran Zegman’s “Honor Society” is a surprisingly compelling high school caper conceived with youthful wit, aplomb and a genuinely out-of-left-field twist. Written by veteran TV scribe David A. Goodman, its teen protagonist seems a mash-up of Tracy Flick from “Election” and Cher Horowitz from “Clueless.” Possessing the former’s solipsism and the latter’s self-serving resourcefulness, Honor (a bewitching Angourie Rice) spends her days plotting her strategy to become a Harvard student in the next semester.
Honor has carefully forged this plan over the last four years. In her mind, Harvard is the only school that can guarantee her a one-way exit from a dead-end place. It’s not that her middle-class life sucks (it doesn’t) or her hardworking parents aren’t loving (they are); she’s just all too aware of the limited options her small town can provide, should...

"I'll destroy anyone who gets in my way." Paramount has revealed an official trailer for a coming-of-age romantic comedy titled Honor Society, heading to streaming on Paramount+ this summer. The title is a play on words because it's not only about an "honor society" student, but her name is literally Honor. Honor is an ambitious high school senior whose sole focus is getting into Harvard... assuming she can score that recommendation from her guidance counselor. Willing to do whatever it takes, she concocts a deceptive plan to take down her top three student competitors, until things take a turn when she unexpectedly falls for her biggest competition, Michael. Angourie Rice (from The Nice Guys and the Spider-Man movies) stars as Honor, with Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin on "Stranger Things"), Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Armani Jackson, Avery Konrad, Kerry Butler, and Amy Keum. It's nice to see a film actually have a romance that...

This article contains spoilers for the From season 1 finale.
Last night, the Epix suspense horror series From starring Harold Perrineau ended its first season with multiple cliffhangers that separated the main characters, and opened up a whole lot of questions about a town cut off from the rest of the world and surrounded by nocturnal vampire-esque creatures. Titled “Oh, the Places We’ll Go,” the tenth episode was reminiscent of a Lost-style finale that expands the web of intrigue (somewhat literally considering those massive spider webs that look like something woven by Tolkien’s Shelob).
And the comparisons to Lost are not without merit. From was created, and executive produced by John Griffin, Jack Bender, and by showrunner Jeff Pinkner, with Anthony and Joe Russo of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as producers.
In the finale, Perrineau’s Sheriff Boyd Stevens continues his quest to go further into the forest beyond the trapped town.

“Lost” producers Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner are back with the twisty new mystery series “From,” which debuts Feb. 20 on Epix. Instead of stranding people on an enigmatic island, the series, which reunited them with “Lost” star Harold Perrineau, is set in a nightmarish Midwestern town, where no one can ever leave and terrifying creatures prowl after sunset.
During an Epix panel at the Television Critics Association this week, Bender and Pinkner discussed how the series — which is created and executive produced by John Griffin — won’t make the same mistakes “Lost” did, where some mysteries ended in disappointing reveals or were never answered at all.
“I think that having done ‘Lost’ and then taking the lessons of ‘Lost,’ the storytelling lessons and sort of ran them through a filter fringe and tried to apply them here, I think we’re approaching every season like its own chapter with its...

A short-order cook is hired to poison a monstrous supernatural patriarch at a sadistic family dinner in Edward Drake’s stylistic but overstuffed offering
Any Gen Xers happy to see one more pop culture touchstone bulldozed will appreciate this ambitious but overstuffed fantasy thriller in which Jerry Maguire’s gorgeous poppet Jonathan Lipnicki appears as a murderous autistic chef with an encyclopaedic knowledge of toxins. He plays Sydney, a short-order cook hired by two scions of the fearsome Sinclair clan to dispatch the patriarch August (Timothy V Murphy) at a family dinner. This monster, with a caustic Ulster accent and a grin like a dagger flash, has cut a deal with his children to take custody of his granddaughter Chance (Avery Konrad) so he can inculcate her into the full extent of her powers.
The Sinclairs must be invited over the threshold, need daily transfusions of human blood, and sprout...

Chance (Avery Konrad) is at a difficult age - too old to be contented in an ordinary school when she knows that, as a Sinclair, she's different, but too young to understand what the weight of her family name really means. After she gets in trouble for biting another girl in her class during an argument, she's sent to stay with her uncle August (Timothy V Murphy), who plans to teach her how to live up to that name. But Chance's family is deeply divided, and over the course of one night, centuries of conflict are about to come to a head.
It's not really a spoiler to say that Broil has supernatural themes, given that it screened as part of Frightfest 2020 and drops multiple hints within the first ten minutes. The Sinclair family are not vampires, they insist, but they seem to have a lot in common with.

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this release was provided by Well Go USA. Director: Edward Drake. Writers: Edwards Drake and Piper Mars. Cast: Jonathan Lipnicki, Avery Konrad, Lochlyn Munro, Timothy V. Murphy, Corey Large and Annette Reilly. In the Greek play Oedipus Rex, Sophocles writes: "the pain we inflict upon ourselves hurt most of all.” And, there is more pain than pleasure in a viewing of Broil, unfortunately. From director Edward Drake and first time screenwriter Pipers Mars, these two filmmakers have put together a story of a demon coming-of-age, with the teenager Chance (Avery Conrad). Shot in Vancouver, B.C., the exterior scenes look great. However, the writers' attempt to create a Greek Tragedy with Broil mostly falls flat. The genre swings towards being a demonic family drama and this is not what this reviewer was hoping for. Also, Broil is sometimes strangely shot in a music video style.
