Foals frontman and guitarist Yannis Philippakis has announced a new collaborative EP with Tony Allen, the late drummer who played heavily with Fela Kuti, under the name Yannis & the Yaw. He’s also shared the EP’s lead single, “Walk Through Fire.”
Landing on August 31st, the Lagos Paris London ft. Tony Allen EP has been in the works from the Foals frontman for over eight years. Philippakis first worked with Tony Allen in Paris in 2016, and began collaborating with the Nigerian Afrobeats pioneer as well as multi-instrumentalists Vincent Taeger, Vincent Taurelle, and Ludovic Bruni.
According to Philippakis, the two-day sessions culminated in an unfinished EP, and they occasionally regrouped to finish over the following four years until Covid isolated both him and Allen. Allen sadly passed in April 2020, and Philippakis felt a responsibility to carry the EP through to the finish line: “There was an imperative to finish it...

Billie Eilish made her first live performance of the theme from the new James Bond film, “No Time to Die,” at the Brit Awards in London on Monday night. She was joined for the performance by her brother Finneas, as usual, along with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and superstar film composer Hans Zimmer, both of whom contributed to the studio version of the song.
Most impressively, Eilish nailed the challenging high note at the end of the song — watch the performance below.
As is often the case with the Brit Awards, many of the winners are artists that would make most Americans say, “Who?” But Lewis Capaldi and Stormzy both won big, and Eilish and Tyler, the Creator both took International awards — see the full winners’ list below.
British male: Stormzy
British female: Mabel
British group: Foals
Rising star: Celeste

Justin Bieber dominates winner list of this year's Shockwaves NME Awards by grabbing one prize in each of the "worst" and "least" departments. The Canadian singer who has a new haircut to get a more mature look is named the Least Stylish, saving Cheryl Cole, Ke$ha, Lady GaGa and Liam Gallagher from bringing home the title.
Bieber gets his other "honor" by winning Worst Album. The second CD of his two-part debut album "My World 2.0" pushes aside Cheryl Cole's "Messy Little Raindrops", Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", Kings of Leon"s "Come Around Sundown" and My Chemical Romance's "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys".
The "Baby" hitmaker actually got three nominations, and the one that he lost is Villain of the Year. Thanks to David Cameron, Bieber along with Axl Rose, Nick Clegg and Simon Cowell don't become the winner of this year's meanest character.
