Country-rock stalwarts Alabama have enlisted Old Dominion, Shenandoah, and more for June Jam Xviii, taking place June 1 at the Vfw Fairgrounds in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Alabama will close out the day, which will also feature performances from Lee Greenwood, Montgomery Gentry (featuring Eddie Montgomery), Mark Willis, Exile, John Berry, Taylor Hicks, the Malpass Brothers, and the Castellows. A special surprise guest — described only as a “hitmaking singer-songwriter” in a press release — will take the stage, too, though obviously no further details were given.
The June Jam Festival returned last year after a 26-year hiatus.

Exclusive: Candle Media’s Exile Content Studio is partnering with acclaimed Colombian journalist Daniel Coronell and director Gaz Alazraki (Father Of The Bride) to produce a scripted feature about the incredible recent news story of the four children, including a baby, that survived a plane crash and 40 days in the Amazon Rainforest before being rescued by Colombian special forces.
A story this remarkable was unlikely to go unnoticed by the industry for long, but this is a quick turnaround even for Hollywood.
Earlier this month, world media was captivated by the story of the four children – Lesly, 13; Soleiny, 9; Tien Noriel, 4; and Cristin, 1 – who were found alive in the Amazon after a rescue operation that searched more than 1,600 miles of dense forest.
The children survived the plane crash that killed their mother, the pilot and the only other adult on board, and then got through the dense jungle, alive with jaguars,...

Thirty years ago, Liz Phair released her indie-rock masterpiece Exile in Guyville, on June 22, 1993. It’s a massive moment in the history of the Weird Girl canon. Liz was just an ordinary twenty-something geek in the Chicago indie scene of Wicker Park, going out every night to see hipster bands, hanging out in dive bars, and getting her heart broken. It was a Guyville, where she was just another girl. But she had a secret that nobody knew: she was writing songs about the whole experience. And she was singing...

Since 1974, Charlie Daniels’ Volunteer Jam concerts have been a regular fixture on the Music City event calendar for country and Southern rock fans. That was until 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic shut down large events and the concert’s namesake died in July at the age of 83, rendering its September 2020 staging impossible.
The concert was initially rescheduled to go on as a tribute to the musical legacy of Daniels on February 22nd, 2021, but has once again been postponed due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns. The 2021 Volunteer Jam: A Musical Salute to Charlie...

Bad Bunny won a Latin Grammy in November for Best Reggaeton Performance (“Yo Perreo Sola”), but surprisingly that was his only win out of nine nominations. He was blanked in the general field where his crossover hit collection “Yhlqmdlg” and his collab with J Balvin “Oasis” were both nominated for Album of the Year. Could he be redeemed by what the Puerto Ricano hip-hop star described as the “gringo Grammys“?
Despite two Latin Grammys thus far in his career, he has yet to prevail at the original Grammys, but this year he has two chances to prevail. He’s up for Best Latin Pop/Urban Album for “Yhlqmdlg,” and he crossed over into the overall pop field with a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance nom for “Un Día” with J Balvin, Dua Lipa and Tainy. This is the second time he has been nominated for a Grammy outside the Latin field.

Exclusive: Exile Content has teamed with Pulp Fiction producer Lawrence Bender to acquire the rights to Azam Ahmed’s New York Times article, “He Was One of Mexico’s Deadliest Assassins. Then He Turned on His Cartel”. Exile and Bender are currently developing the story into a film or series with Ahmed and Caitlin Roper as producers.
Ahmed co-wrote the article with Paulina Villegas which was published in December 2019. It tells the story of a man who became one of the deadliest assassins in Mexico who eventually taken into custody via a makeshift witness protection program. He eventually fell back into the deadly trade. “This will never end, no matter what I do,” he said in the New York Times story. “But I just won’t be a part of it anymore.”
This is not the first story from Ahmed that has been acquired to be developed into a project.
