[Warning: Spoilers for episode 1 of “House of the Dragon”, “Heirs of the Dragon”, written by Ryan Condal and directed by Miguel Sapochnik.]
“House of the Dragon”, the “Game of Thrones” prequel, premiered with the first episode on Sunday, bringing to life George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. The all-new series, which takes place 200 years before the original, details the battle of succession as House Targaryen attempts to maintain its place on the Iron Throne.
Members of the ensemble cast, including Emily Carey, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Matt Smith, Milly Alcock, Paddy Considine and Steve Toussaint, recap the in-fighting in episode one and tease where things go from here, as season 1 gets deep into the political maneuvering that follows.
“It kicks off with the Old King trying to find his named heir, and the woman with the right temperament to rule the kingdom is shafted for the younger male heir,” says Olivia Cooke, who portrays an older version of Alicent Hightower.

Chicago – The experience of director Oliver Stone, to look underneath the slimy rocks of government secrecy and bureaucracy, produces an excellent history lesson in “Snowden,” an overview of Edward Snowden, a whistleblower against the government who is still in exile.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Stone is clear on his position on Snowden, who essentially told the world that their privacy rights were being violated through government access into their technology, he is a patriot. How he became that way is fascinating, with the complexities of spying on chilling display. Get your band-aids or masking tape out and tape that camera hole on your computer, or maybe you’re next on the CIA/Nsa “candid camera.” That is what the film warns, and again Oliver Stone is the agent provocateur who leads the way to teaching us something through his role, as he puts it, as a dramatist.
The story is told in flashback.

Showtime is expected to announce during their TCA session this morning that it has picked up to series drama pilot The Affair, starring Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson, and comedy pilot Happyish (formerly Trending Down), starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kathryn Hahn and Rhys Ifan. Both will receive 10-episode orders. This is the second consecutive year that Showtime is picking up two of its three pilots to series. (The third 2013 pilot, drama The Vatican, did not go forward.) Since David Nevins joined the network as an entertainment president, he has ordered a total of eight pilots, six of which have gone to series. The first four series, Homeland, House Of Lies, Ray Donovan and Masters Of Sex all have been critical and commercial successes. (Add to that CBS’ Under The Dome, which was fully developed at Showtime.) They will now be joined by The Affair and Happyish...

Despite all films in their original trilogy making more money than last year’s The Amazing Spider-Man reboot, director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire never did get the assurance and longevity backing for their vision than Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield have received today.
Sony Pictures have announced release dates for the third and fourth entries in their new series. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will open June 10th, 2016 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 on May 4th, 2018.
So with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 filming in New York now and coming next May, that’s a new Spider-Man every two years up until 2018.
Marc Webb then gets a fourth movie in the series that Sam Raimi never did. The good news of course is that this gives Webb and his team the golden opportunity to plan ahead to a degree that no comic book movie franchise has ever had before. It’s already...

It's funny to read Ethan Anderton's take on some new concept art for an abandoned Jurassic Park 4 where human-dinosaur hybrids were apparently expected to be involved. Anderton writes, "Yeah, that sounds like an interesting idea for some kind of movie, but not Jurassic Park 4." Yeah, but does it sound interesting for The Amazing Spider-Man? Apparently the abandoned project was written by William Monahan (The Departed) and John Sayles (The Spiderwick Chronciles) and involved "a secret genetics lab getting involved with cross-breeding humans with dinosaurs, giving them problem-solving intelligence and the ability to fire weapons and fight crime, but controlled by human authorities." So much of that sounds like what happened to Rhys Ifan's character in The Amazing Spider-Man, all the way down to his turning New York City police officers into lizards... though that part of the storyline was disregarded after they turned into lizards so we don't know...

After I posted those six clips from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, I was almost certain that that was all there were in terms of clippage to be posted. Usually the studio likes to dole these clips out over the course of a month, and once all the clips have been delivered, they send dump them off online. But then this seventh clip went and showed up, featuring a revealing talk between Rhys Ifan’s Curt Conners and Irrfan Khan, playing his sleazy counterpart. I sincerely hope someone just slapped the background music on the clip we’re seeing of their own accord and that it’s not in the finished movie, because it is downright obnoxious, not to mention soul-crushingly annoying. If anyone's looking for another reason to get excited about the latest Spidey flick, say hello to Miles Elliot. He's joined the cast of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Miles plays Billy Connor, the son of Spiderman's nemesis "The Lizard" and bears a striking resemblance to his older co-star and on-screen dad, Rhys Ifan. Word is, he's also a talented actor. In addition to his appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man, he just scored his first leading role in the film Camp as a troubled and abused child who's sent to a healing camp to recover. At the tender age of 11, Miles has already made several TV appearances on such shows as Grey's Anatomy (TV), The Mentalist (TV), Austin & Ally (TV), and Big Time Rush (TV) and also has three or four short films under his belt. We recently sat down with Miles to...

Well, almost all of the sequence, anyway. I think you lose a second or two somewhere in there. But it is, for the most part, a completely sequence from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, and I have to admit, I’m totally digging Spidey’s glib personality. Of course, only in comic books and superhero movies can you just stumble across a guy stealing cars. The sequence is an extended version of the “Police Chase” clip that was posted earlier. And for even more, check out six minutes of Spidey action here. Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. Sony has slowly but surely doled out a handful of clips from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” in the last few weeks in anticipation of the film’s upcoming release early next month. As of right now, there are six clips out there for your viewing pleasure. If more shows up after this post, we will surely update it. Until then, get a gander at what your friendly neighborhood webcrawler is up to in six minutes (give or take) of “The Amazing Spider-Man”. In this rebooted update on the Marvel superhero, you get to find out what Petey’s dad and mum were up to while he was a little tyke. Our hero grows up into the superhero Spider-Man, but as we’ve been told numerous times, we don’t know the real story. Rhys Ifan plays Curt Connors, a scientist whose experiments produce the Lizard, a destructive creature that Spider-Man must defeat.

Apparently ol Peter Parker (a surprisingly convincing Andrew Garfield) has yet to learn humility in this phase of his Spider-Man evolution from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, because here he is on the basketball court making a total fool out of poor ol Flash Thompson (Chris Zylka). No doubt ol Flash made Peter’s life miserable pre-superpowers, but come on, man, you’re a superhero! Anyways. Then Spidey like totally just jams it home. If he gives up crimefighting, he could totally take his talents to South Beach. Or possibly Madison Square Garden, which I believe would be closer to home for the wallcrawler. When the main character in a movie has a mask on for much of his action scenes, who can really say how much of it he actually did himself and how much of it the stunt doubles were responsible for? Of course, the studio would love for you to think Andrew Garfield did all the high-flying stunts on Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” himself, but let’s be real here, that’s probably not the case. Studios have to pay for actor insurances, and it wouldn’t do for your leading man to plummet 30 stories to his death. Stunt doubles, on the other hand, are expendable. Welcome to Hollywood! Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, Chris Zylka, reboots this Summer on July 3, 2012. Wanna know more about Rhys Ifan’s The Lizard in Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”? Good, because here’s a new featurette that focuses on Ifan’s Curt Connors, also known as the guy in the labcoat who would eventually become The Lizard. This featurette gives us our most extensive look at the Lizard yet, and from the sounds of it, he’s more Doc Ock than Green Goblin. You know, one of those misunderstood, “not really a bad guy” bad guy. “The Amazing Spider-Man” is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Chicago – There are some major laughs in “The Five-Year Engagement,” good old fashion you-can’t-breathe laughs. But is it also dark and serious at times, and makes some surprising contemporary statements regarding coupling. Jason Segel and Emily Blunt portray the engaged couple.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Although it has some uneven moments, and is apt to go into the Judd Apatow “dirty laugh” mode (he’s the producer), “The Five-Year Engagement” succeeds because it was unafraid to explore what modern couples go through in setting up – and settling – on the monster decision that is called marriage. It’s about dealing with the other person that will be standing next to you at the ceremony, rather than the trappings of preparing the ceremony itself, which was again surprising considering the title. Jason Segal co-wrote the script with director Nicholas Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), and they were unafraid to take it into black comedy territory.

My jury is still out on The Amazing Spiderman, but it’s alot less out after seeing the new trailer. In the footage below you can get your first glimpse of Rhys Ifan’s Lizard, which looks like he has some great scenes. The Amazing Spiderman (yes, the reboot) swings into cinemas worldwide on July 3rd / 4th. Marc Webb’s upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man” is apparently so good and Sony is so sure that it’ll clean up at the box office when it opens next Summer, that they’ve already scheduled the sequel for May 2, 2014. While it’s not much, the sleek costume design in pretty sick in my opinion as a fellow Spider-Man fan and while some people may not be looking forward to the film or simply thinking it’s a “Batman Begins” sort of film, I can’t wait for the film. I’m glad we’re finally getting the Lizard on the big screen, as I hoped Sam Raimi would’ve done with his “Spider-Man” films but well, we know that never happened so I have hope Marc Webb will do the character justice. “The Amazing Spider-Man” stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone,...

Never you mind that bootleg we posted yesterday, here’s the official teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield as the gangly webslinger and a blonde Emma Stone as his cute object of affection. It’s essentially another origin story for Spidey, though with some twists — Spidey’s parents are apparently secret agents now and Gwen Stacy is kinda a bitchy scientist instead of just some pretty girl in college. Plus, I totally dig the first-person web-slinging action. No glimpses of Mary Jane Watson, though. She’s not Spidey’s neighbor anymore, I assume. What do you think? The rebooted “Spider-Man” stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, and Annie Parisse. Slinging into theaters July 3, 2012. Get more images and videos in our “The Amazing Spider-Man” preview page. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.

Two new teaser posters (a poster and a banner, actually) for Marc Webb’s upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man”. Nothing too mind-blowing; mostly just the title/logo. The Webb reboot stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, and Emma Stone as his lady love, Gwen Stacy. Also starring Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, and Annie Parisse. The webslinger slings his web July 3, 2012. Obviously, the fan hook for this Amazing Spider-Man story are the shots of the practical make-up on the neck of Rhys Ifan’s Dr. Curt Connors, a precursor for his later, greener appearance as Spider-Man’s foe the Lizard. Many in the Cahiers du Cinema crowd would call that fantasy. Fans just call that cool.
But really? Breaking up with Emma Stone? On your front porch? That’s pure fantasy. Because if you’re Peter Parker (at least the one we know from the comics and non-Spider-Man 3 films), you wouldn’t be so quick to ditch Emma’s Gwen Stacy (warning: spoilers in her bio). All the more heartbreaking if you know how that particular song ends.

More set images from Marc Webb’s upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield as an impossibly long-necked Peter Parker (who is also a skater in this iteration, natch) and Emma Stone as his impossibly hot love interest Gwen Stacy. Gotta love a girl in a skirt and boots. Somewhere along the way, Rhys Ifans turns into the Lizard and Denis Leary shows up as a NYPD cop to, one presumes, berate our hero with a string of vulgarities. Or perhaps not. What’s the ratings on this thing again? Also starring Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, and Annie Parisse. According to various reports, the fellow in the light blue-ish mask and hood is The Lizard. Or, actually, actor Rhys Ifan in his Lizard costume, all covered up and moving between the sets of Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”. The boys at IO9 deduced this about the above pic: But if you look closer at the eye holes in the mask it’s pretty evident that there’s a lot of green make-up and scales covering the subjects face. Anyways, here are more pics from the set, featuring Andrew Garfield as a skateboarding Peter Parker and a fuller shot of Ifans in hiding. Get more pics from Splash News Online. Look for “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2012, co-starring Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

The boys and gals at I09 have added a gaggle of new pics from the set of Marc Webb’s “Spider-Man” reboot. It’s actually pretty amazing that we’re getting so many images from the set, but I suppose that’s a combination of the film being shot in Los Angeles (which is apparently crawling with camera-armed paparazzi, if you believe TMZ) and starring two “hot” young stars in Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. “Spider-Man” stars Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as his love interest, Gwen Stacy. Denis Leary plays Stone’s policeman father, while Sally Fields and Martin Sheen play Peter’s Aunt and Uncle, respectively. This time around, Spidey will battle villains Rhys Ifan as The Lizard and Irrfan Khan as Adder. Spidey gets rebooted July 3, 2012, still a full year and a half away.

I don’t know if it’s the lighting on the film’s L.A. movie set (which they’re currently trying to pass off as New York), or if this is just what director Marc Webb is going for, but man, that sure is one bright looking costume Spidey is running around in (via MTV). There are certainly a heck of a lot more color to that costume than I thought from that first look we got a few days ago, but of course, this could just be the “stunt costume” used for various special effects work to be done in post or some such. Who knows what craziness takes place on those Hollywood productions, especially in post? Regardless, notice the mechanical webshooters on his wrists. That should end all rumors and speculations about that little subject. Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson,...

You already saw Emma Stone out and about sporting her new blonde do in preparation for Marc Webb’s upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot, now here’s Stone on the actual set of the movie attending … is that a funeral? Hmm, I wonder whose funeral that’s for? Could it be for … Nah, I won’t ruin it for all you non-comic book reading folks out there. Suffice it to say, Gwen Stacy won’t be very happy with a certain wall-crawler post-funeral. Andrew Garfield will play Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, with Denis Leary as Gwen’s Police Captain father, George Stacy, and Martin Sheen and Sally Fields as Parker’s uncle and aunt, respectively. Recent casting also added Julianne Nicholson and Campbell Scott as Parker’s absent parents, along with “Slumdog Millionaire’s” Irrfan Khan, who was added to the cast as a second villain along with Rhys Ifan, who is expected to play The Lizard.

Andrew Garfield is Spidey, Rhys Ifan’s is the bad guy, Martin Sheen and Sally Field and Peter Parkers Uncle and Aunt and Emma Stone takes on the love interest, Gwen Stacey. So, where does that leave poor old Mary Jane. Who’s going to take on the pivotal, would be missus Spidey. No body, that’s who. No body hasn’t been seen before and she will make her long awaited debut in the Spiderman reboot….well she would if No Body was Somebody. According to The Wrap one love interest was enough for the ould web slinger this time round. It’s a bold move, but if Sony are going for the younger audience anyway, it probably doesn’t make a spiders web of difference to them anyway. Come to think of it, is anyone else bothered by the lack of a Mary Jane?...
