In 2009 an urban legend turned out to be true and a college hazing turned out to be deadly in Hellweek, a horror film you've probably never seen. In 2013 the film was released. Now, in 2014, a special grindhouse edition is here. Read on for details.
From the Press Release
Sgl Entertainment has released a "Grindhouse" version of the cult classic horror film Hellweek. This faster paced, all new version, edited by Bobby Jones, includes some cool never-before-seen footage.
Eddie Lengyel’s Hellweek is the tale of “Hazing Gone Bad.” Rush week turns unexpectedly hellish when a band of sadistic, masked homicidal maniacs holed up in an abandoned warehouse wreak havoc on a bunch of not-so-innocent college kids.
Wanting to ensure the new pledges prove they’re worthy, fraternity president J.J. sends them to a deserted warehouse rumored to be inhabited by demonic squatters. But the hazing takes on a sadistic...

Whenever a movie studio announces plans for another remake, the reaction among fans and pundits is always the same: Hollywood doesn't have any new ideas.
But we like to look on the bright side of things, which is why we're so happy when we hear of a cool remake or reboot. Hey, who needs new ideas when there are already so many great old ideas waiting to be rediscovered?
With that in mind, we've compiled a list of 50 — that's right, 50! — upcoming Hollywood remakes that tickle our fancy. Because if these films were good the first time, you never know, you might just enjoy them even more the second time around.

Three chicks pick up a hillbilly hitch hiker who invites them to a down-home barbeque. They reluctantly accept but get way more than they bargained for. This ain’t your usual dogs and burgers with slaw on the side.
Trilogy Of Blood (2010) is a twenty-seven minute horror short, as well as a music video for psychobilly punk band the Deadneks. Boobs, blood and music….what more could you ask for? Well, being a girl I don’t much care if there are boobs or not, but the blood and music drew me in.
Trilogy Of Blood is a gritty, gory tribute to Herschell Gordon Lewis. I was almost immediately reminded of 2000 Maniacs with its backwoods hillbillies and grindhouse feel. It’s cheesy but a lot of fun. And the music is great.

Let’s face it, John Hillcoat’s “The Road”, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, is gonna depress the hell outta you. It’s a drab, dark, and gritty little film with a big Hollywood budget about an unnamed man and his unnamed son as they try to survive in a post-apocalyptic America. This involves running afoul of cannibals, guys with guns, crazy old men at campfires, and diving for food. It’s good fun if you can survive it. Check out five whopping extended clips from the movie that have shown up on YouTube. Based on Cormac McCarthy’s best-selling and Pulitzer Prize winning novel, “The Road” is the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth. Chicago – The total number of horrendous, stupid, useless horror movie remakes could fill a film festival from Hell, but this year we’ve already seen the massively successful “Friday the 13th” and the critically lauded surprises of “My Bloody Valentine 3D” and “Last House on the Left”. Maybe there’s actually life in this horror remake trend after all and it’s not just the walking undead.
So, what’s the next “My Bloody Valentine”? Where will the next “Friday the 13th” come from? We’ve highlighted six horror movie remakes in current stages of production - from mere rumor to shooting to practically already at a theater near you - with the details about what we know so far, who’s in it, and our gut feeling on if it’s going to be a successful reboot or merely a reason to go back and rent the original. Hit rewind and take notes.

MarketSaw recently had an opportunity to chat with actress Brenna Lee Roth and managed to get a particularly interesting bit of information. The upcoming remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" is not only moving forward; it might just even be in 3D! Roth dropped this comment while mentioning she had been in talks with producers about perhaps working on the film and revealed that the producer involved had all three dimensions in mind for the project. The technology of 3D has become extremely powerful, and if approached correctly, this just might be an awesome decision. Remakes, remakes, remakes! With so much horror remake news already receiving so much attention across the Web, it seemed like a wise idea just to do a recap here at ESplatter. We've got some news on the second "Friday the 13th" film from Michael Bay, a 3D "Birds" remake, and foreign remakes from Sam Raimi. First up, "Friday the 13th Part 2 - the Remake." The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog let it be known that the sequel is a go. Jason's coming back. The villain who's defied death more often than Evil Knievel is making another appearance on the big screen. Sources saying that New Line and Platinum Dunes are moving forward on a new “Friday the 13th" and that Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the recently released reboot, beginning work on a script for a new picture. There's a catch, though. Unlike the sophomore efforts of other franchises,...

We've been complaining for a while about Michael Bay's plan to produce a remake of The Birds, even if it's starring the generally likable George Clooney and Naomi Watts. But now there's an added element that might make the whole thing even more tasteless-- the movie might be made in 3D. Brenna Lee Roth, a minor actress who's in talks for a role in the film, let the news slip to MarketSaw, a blog specifically dedicated to 3D movies. Roth told them, "I am in talks with the producer of The Birds (remake) and he said he wanted to do it 3D, but I don't really know any more about it." To be fair, Hitchcock himself was more than willing to experiment with new movie technologies and/or gimmicks-- Dial M for Murder was originally filmed in 3D. But it's hard to separate the 3D concept from films that...

Brenna Lee Roth has revealed to MarketSaw that the upcoming remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" could end up being in 3-D. "I am in talks with the producer of 'The Birds' and he said he wanted to do it 3D," she explained. "But I don't really know any more about it." Roth also confirmed that both George Clooney (Burn After Reading) and Naomi Watts (Eastern Promises) are attached to star with Brad Fuller and Michael Bay producing. "The Birds" revolves around a wealthy San Francisco playgirl who pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness. You may not know the name Brenna Lee Roth, but you definitely know some of her movies. Let's see here ... Frat House Massacre, Fist of the Vampire, The Horror Convention Massacre. Nah, I'm kidding. You never saw those flicks. But if you saw movies like Spider-Man 3, Zack & Miri, and Adventureland, then you may have spotted Brenna if you didn't blink since she's "uncredited" in all three.
But there's certainly nothing wrong with working in the B-horror department, especially when it puts you in close proximity to producers Michael Bay and Brad Fuller. Meetings with those gentlemen can lead to big gigs and even more publicity, as evident by this interview at MarketSaw.com, and here's what Ms. Roth told the 3-d-addicted blogger Jim Dorey: "I am in talks with the producer of The Birds (remake) and he said he wanted to do it 3D ... Yes Clooney and Watts both attached so far.

Kansas City-based filmmaker Jeff Chitty gave Fango an exclusive look at a promotional trailer he recently shot for his road movie/horror film Devil’S Fork. You can see it below the cut.
The trailer is part of Chitty’s plan to raise financing for the movie, and showcases the cast who have already committed to star in the feature: Allen Lowman from Bonnie And Clyde Vs. Lowman and Rochon play a couple driving home from a wedding reception who encounter a strange hitchhiker named Autumn (Krause) and her companion, Preacher (Cyr), resulting in what Chitty calls “a true road trip from hell!”
