Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Darren Criss will return to the stage alongside Helen J Shen in the Broadway premiere of the new musical Maybe Happy Ending.
Maybe Happy Ending will begin previews on Wednesday, September 18, at the Belasco Theatre, with an opening night on Thursday, October 17.
With music by Will Aronson, lyrics by Hue Park and book by both Aronson and Park, Maybe Happy Ending will be directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Arden.
Maybe Happy Ending will also feature Dez Duron (NBC’s The Voice) who makes his Broadway debut along with Shen.
Final casting as well as ticketing and on-sale information will be announced at a later date.

Come Fall In Love, a new musical based on the acclaimed 1995 Bollywood blockbuster film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, will open on Broadway during the 2022-23 season after a world premiere at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater in September 2022.
Widely known by its initials Ddlj, the film was directed by Aditya Chopra, who will make his stage directing debut with the musical. The Indian and US-based creative team will include Indian songwriters Vishal Dadlani & Shekhar Ravjiani, who will compose the music, Neil Benjamin writing book and lyrics, and Rob Ashford (Frozen) choreographing with associate choreographer Shruti Merchant. Derek McLane (Moulin Rouge!) will design the sets. Adam Zotovich is Executive Producer.

Exclusive: Grammy-winning country music star, actress and longtime Sugarland vocalist Jennifer Nettles has made no secret of her passion for Broadway – she once said her dream gig would be playing Elphaba in Wicked – and now she’s opening up about her next step in that direction: Nettles tells Deadline that she’s spent the year of the Covid shutdown writing songs for a new stage musical.
The subject: A real-life 17th Century Italian “slow poisoner” named Giulia Tofana, whose skills at concocting toxic potions were such that she is reputed to have helped hundreds of women escape abusive marriages. Nick Hornby’s 2007 novel Slam – which includes pro skateboarder Tony Hawk as a character – is being developed as a Broadway musical, with Hawk along for the ride as a producer and skate choreographer.
And he’s in good company: composer Mark Mothersbaugh will write the music and lyrics, with SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical‘s Kyle Jarrow handling the book.

Producers Anita Greenspan and Tony Hawk with Executive producer Adam Zotovich announced today that a new musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby novel, Slam, is in development. This new project will feature a book by Tony Award Nominee Kyle Jarrow SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical with music and lyrics by Mark Mothersbaugh prolific film composer, co-founder of new wave band Devo. Pro-skater Tony Hawk, who is featured as a character in the novel, is a producer on the project and is slated to develop skate choreography.
