When Master P decided to make I Got the Hook-Up 2, studios didn’t exactly jump at the chance to finance a sequel to an urban comedy that grossed $10 million at the box office in 1998. The rap mogul wasn’t deterred, though, and instead put up his own money to produce the film, and tapped into the power of social media to fill the cast and market it.
“The studios are not going to let us in,” Master P, real name Percy Miller, told Deadline this week. “They don’t understand that it’s a market for urban movies, urban comedies, all of that.”
Bob Johnson’s Urban Movie Channel in partnership with Rlje Films released I Got The Hook-Up 2 in theaters and VOD on July 12.
The sequel, directed by Corey Grant, grossed $149,036 from 37 theaters its opening weekend, a per-screen average of $4,028.

Corey Grant's Bigfoot horror flick 'The Lost Coast Tapes' arrived to mixed reviews last year. In particular cries from most demanding more explanation and more importantly more Bigfoot himself (indeed any would have been nice). So it's up to the sequel hopefully to fill in the gaps. 'Beyond The Lost Coast Tapes' is the name and the new one-sheet which you can see below manages to merge in the nicely lauded poster from the original into the eyeline of the mysterious big footed one. A sign of what route the sequel may take perhaps? Can we expect the action from the view of the monster? All we know for now is that the sequel will apparently drop the found footage style in favour of a more traditional filmmaking style....

What they end up getting is ambushed by a few unseen beasties lurking in the thick foliage. For anyone who doesn’t believe in ghosts and witches but wants a found footage horror film that can appeal to their curiosity or sense of fear, then Director Corey Grant’s Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes is probably more your speed. Taking the same route as Steven Spielberg’s Jaws in the belief that showing less is more, The Lost Coast Tapes tells the story of four ambitious TV producers hoping to make a hit series out of an old man in northern California who claims to have a corpse of a young Bigfoot. For the most part, The Lost Coast Tapes succeeds in its use of mysterious howls, strange happenings, and brief glimpses of gigantic hairy beasts to create a thrilling mystery as to whether or not the whole thing is real or if the old man is just scamming them out of their money. Unfortunately, it loses...

Corey Grant is an African-American director with such titles as Hip-Hop Task Force and its follow-up, Studio, on his resume. Stereotypically speaking, he's not your typical horror director.
But this fearless filmmaker recently trekked to Northern California with his crew and brought back Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes, which opens this Friday, October 19th.
"It's about a disgraced television host who was hoaxed by a fictional UFO story on a previous show, and it killed his career," Grant said in describing Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes. "Now he stages his comeback when he finds out there is a Bigfoot hunter who supposedly has an image of Bigfoot. So he figures he can do a show, but this time do it about people who pull hoaxes. Then he can bring his career back. So, of course, they travel up to Northern California to find this Bigfoot hunter, but when they get up there,...

I'm a bit confused here, bigfoot flicks aren't supposed to look awesome. Yet here I am, playing the new trailer for director Corey Grant's upcoming found footage flick, The Lost Coast Tapes, and what do I see? Not only bigfoot, but what appears to be a pretty wicked platform in general. This one may just be the bigfoot movie I've been waiting for! While I'm labeling this trailer “new”, it actually surfaced about a month ago, I've just been slacking on my job apparently, because this one never should have slipped through the cracks. Found footage flicks can be extraordinary films if executed properly, and I've got to admit, this is one of those rare trailers that has my interest genuinely piqued.

While we wait for Eduardo Sanchez's found footage Bigfoot flick Exists to come our way, we'll be treated to similar found footage shenanigans of the Bigfoot variety with The Lost Coast Tapes which Xlrator Media is supposed to release this fall.
Corey Grant directed the film which concerns Sean Reynolds, an eager television host on a mission to debunk famed Bigfoot hunter Carl Drybeck, who claims to possess the body of a dead Sasquatch.
When the team arrives in Northern California they are immediately thrilled - Drybeck’s zealous belief in his hoax is going to make for a wildly entertaining episode of campy-paranormal television. However, when Drybeck’s hunting partner is mysteriously attacked, the team is left alone and reality begins to set in. The evidence is stacking up, Drybeck’s theory may not be a hoax, and the existence of Bigfoot might just be the least of their worries.

First announced at Afm back in November comes from New Breed Entertainment and director Corey Grant, The Lost Coast Tapes, starring Drew Rausch, Ashley Wood, Rich McDonald, Frank Ashmore and Noah Weisberg. "A cynical investigative journalist and his documentary team travel to a remote cabin to debunk a Cryptozoologist's claim of finding a dead Bigfoot, but their film quickly becomes a record of their life and battle against an unseen horror." The film was directed by Corey Grant, with production already wrapped on the film. Check out the full poster below:
