Luc Besson To EP ‘Rainbow Warrior’ Feature Doc
Luc Besson is exec producing a feature documentary exploring the stranger-than-fiction tale of the bombing of the iconic ship Rainbow Warrior, which is in the works with Doscville Studios, Gnz, EuropaCorp and Expanded Media. Pre-sales to Dr, Svt and Nrk have already been struck for Rainbow Warrior and a streamer and UK broadcast partner will soon be announced. The feature charts happenings in 1985 when two bombs exploded in the port of Auckland, New Zealand, sinking the ship of a small environmental group in the dead of night. Investigators initially suspected terrorists but quickly uncovered a trail of clues that lead directly to the French secret service. “This story is more relevant than ever with the seemingly constant threat of nuclear war and the environmental crusade that many young people will consider their life’s mission,” said director Edward McGurn. New Delhi, June 14 (Ians) Brahim Diaz is back in the Spanish capital and set for a second chance to establish himself as a regular for Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who first joined the 34-time Laliga champions from Manchester City in 2019, has spent the last three seasons on loan in Italian football with AC Milan in search of minutes and invaluable experience.
He has gained plaudits for his performances in Italy, playing 124 matches in all competitions and scoring 18 goals for the Rossoneri. He won the Serie A title last season, becoming only the third player ever to win Laliga, Serie A and the Premier League after Cristiano Ronaldo y Danilo, and this year he reached the Champions League semi-finals.
He now returns to the Santiago Bernabeu and will likely slot into the now departed Marco Asensio’s role in the team. Brahim is a very creative player, and can...

Paris, April 9 (Ians) Goals from Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos powered Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-0 victory at Nice to snap their two-match losing streak in French Ligue 1.
The win on late Saturday night also put the 10-time league champions back to six points in front of Lens in the standings, to some degree temporarily easing the pressure on every member in the team, especially head coach Christophe Galtier and superstar Messi.
“It was a difficult match. We knew we had a lot of pressure on our shoulders both because of our poor performances and because of Lens winning, and especially because Nice are a really good team who have been on a great run,” said Galtier, who led Nice to a fifth-place finish last season before taking the rein of the Parisians.

Madrid, Feb 24 (Ians) Paris Saint-Germain’s and former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has announced that he is retiring from international football after a record 180 appearances for Spain.
The 36-year-old, who will be 37 in March, published a letter on Thursday night, in which he confirmed he would no longer be available for the Spanish national side — nearly two years after he made his last appearance on March 31, 2021, as a substitute against Kosovo.
Ramos commented that new Spain coach Luis de la Fuente had spoken to him to explain he was no longer in his plans.
“The time has come, the time to say goodbye to the National Team, our dear and exciting Red Shirt (Spain’s colors). Madrid, Nov 12 (Ians) Spain coach Luis Enrique had few surprises when he named his 26-man squad for the World Cup on Friday from the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation just outside of Madrid.
The coach has picked a squad with an emphasis on youth, including players such as Fc Barcelona trio Ansu Fati, Gavi and Pedri, and other youngsters such as Yeremy Pino, Hugo Guillamon and Nico Williams, while again ignoring calls to include Paris Saint Germain’s veteran Sergio Ramos.
There is the experience in defense, with Jordi Alba, Dani Carvajal and Cesar Azpilicueta all included, although there was no place for Athletic Club Bilbao’s Inigo Martinez, with Valencia’s Hugo Guillamon, who can also play in midfield if needed, given the nod.

Madrid, Sep 27 (Ians) Spain face a vital match in Portugal on Tuesday night with a place in the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League at stake, but also with eyes on the more immediate future.
La Roja need to win in Portugal to ensure their spot in the final phase of the Nations League, but after their 2-1 defeat at home to Switzerland on Saturday, coach Luis Enrique also needs a good result to take to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Spain will kick off their World Cup campaign against Costa Rica on November 23, with only a friendly against Jordan on November 17 as preparation for the main event, and that leaves Luis Enrique very little time to sort out some major problems which were evident on Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Madrid, May 24 (Ians) Spain captain Sergio Ramos has not been included in Luis Enrique's Euro 2020 squad named on Monday after an injury-troubled 2020-21 season.
Aymeric Laporte, who only this month switched his allegiance from France to Spain, is among the centre back options to have been preferred to the Real Madrid veteran.
Ramos was part of the national team that won three consecutive major tournaments between 2008 and 2012 and has remained a key man for his club and country ever since, breaking Italy great Gianluigi Buffon's all-time international appearances mark of 176 earlier this season, reports Dpa.
The 35-year-old has had the armband for Spain under Luis Enrique but played only 50 minutes of the March World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Kosovo before returning to Madrid injured.
Ramos was limited to 21 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this term, missing 31 matches.

Madrid, May 18 (Ians) Real Madrid will be without German midfielder Toni Kroos for the decisive last game of the season after the club confirmed on Monday that he has tested positive for Covid-19.
Kroos had been isolated at home since Friday after a close contact had tested positive for the virus and missed Sunday's 1-0 win away to Athletic Club Bilbao and he will now also have to sit out Saturday's home match against Villarreal, Xinhua reports.
Real Madrid need to beat Villarreal and hope that Atletico Madrid fail to win in their visit to relegation-threatened Valladolid in a game that will be played at the same time, to be crowned this season's La Liga champions.
The German is the ninth member of the Real Madrid first-team squad to test positive for Covid-19 this season, following Eder Militao, Casemiro, Nacho Fernandez, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, Fede Valverde, and Luka Jovic,...

Budapest, March 17 (Ians) Manchester City and Real Madrid both won their second-leg matches in the UEFA Champions League last 16, to reach to the quarterfinals with ease.
Due to travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, City and their German opponents Monchengladbach met at Puskas Arena in Budapest as they did in the first-leg, Xinhua news agency reported.
Bringing a 2-0 lead to the second meeting, City started brightly with two goals in the early stages.
City captain Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring by lashing home Riyad Mahrez's pass 12 minutes into the first half. Six minutes later, Phil Foden assisted German international Ilkay Gundogan to add a second with a close-range low shot.
Monchengladbach failed to respond, meaning the English Premier League leaders advance 4-0 on aggregate.

“La Leyenda de Sergio Ramos,” (The Legend of Sergio Ramos) or season two of Amazon Prime Video Spain’s original docu-series “El Corazon de Sergio Ramos,” will premiere on the platform in Spain on April 9 and the rest of the world June 18.
Filmed across the tumultuous 2019-20 Real Madrid season, the series’ intended narrative diverged sharply after the Covid-19 pandemic split the domestic season in two and caused the postponement of the Uefa Euro 2020 championship and Olympic Games, both of which were planned to appear in the series.
“In a season as atypical as this, which none of us have ever experienced, we all had to adjust,” Óscar Prol, head of Spanish unscripted originals, Amazon Studios, told Variety. “Finally, we ended up with a completely different series, but the result has been spectacular, and we were able to show and tell parts of Sergio’s story that would have otherwise been impossible.

Madrid, Feb 23 (Ians) Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has not included striker Karim Benzema in the 19-man squad for his side's vital Champions League last 16 tie away to Atalanta on Wednesday night.
The striker, who has netted 17 goals in all competitions this season, has still not recovered from a slight tear in his left abductor muscle, which kept him out of Real Madrid's narrow 1-0 win away to Valladolid on Saturday.
He was replaced by Mariano Diaz at the weekend and the 27-year-old looks likely to lead the Real Madrid line again on Wednesday night, Xinhua news agency reports.
Benzema isn't the only player Zidane will be missing on Wednesday with club captain Sergio Ramos still sidelined after undergoing minor knee surgery, while the absence of Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola will also miss out along with central defender Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde and Eden Hazard.

Madrid, Jan 31 (Ians) Real Madrid's slim chances of winning the Laliga title this season took a heavy blow as they were beaten 1-2 at home by Levante in their latest encounter.
Saturday's result leaves Real Madrid seven points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid, who have two games in hand and just a point ahead of Sevilla, who won away to Eibar earlier in the day, reports Xinhua news agency.
Madrid kicked off with coach Zinedine Zidane at home due to coronavirus along with defender Nacho Fernandez, while Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, and Lucas Vazquez all missed out through injury.
Madrid's already makeshift defense was further weakened after just seven minutes when Eder Militao was sent off after a foul on Levante striker Sergio Leon which stopped a clear goalscoring opportunity. The referee first gave a yellow card but changed it to red after consulting with the Var.

Madrid, Dec 21 (Ians) Real Madrid have moved up to the second spot in Laliga following a controversial 3-1 win away to Eibar.
First half goals from Karim Benzema and Luka Modric after an excellent start from Zinedine Zidane's side set them on their way to a fifth consecutive win on Sunday evening, but Kike Garcia's magnificent strike brought Eibar back into the game, reports Xinhua news agency.
Eibar should have had a penalty eight minutes from time when the ball clearly struck Sergio Ramos's elbow, which was away from his body, but neither the referee nor the Var decreed a penalty and with Eibar chasing an equaliser, Lucas Vazquez added a third for Madrid on the counter-attack.

He lives in California, and teamed with Holden there to film five two-to-five-minute recreations of famous moments from the Champions League’s history.
The vignettes put a new spin on moments involving stars like Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Alphonso Davies. Released initially on social media, they are designed to drive subscriptions and tune-in for Canadian viewers, much as Dazn did with programming produced by LeBron James and Sylvester Stallone ahead of high-profile boxing matches.

When Real Madrid Fooball Team proposed the purchase of Spanish women’s football club Club Deportivo Tacón, producers Tomas Pastor and Ana Pastor saw a story — women’s soccer team that was going to make it into the biggest club in the world.
With the success of the U.S. women’s soccer team, they got the ball rolling and started “Un Sueño Real (A Real Dream),” a docu-series following this team’s transition from the First Division league.
However, when the coronavirus pandemic halted production and the football season, the filmmakers pivoted their storytelling. They followed the players into their homes. Madrid — Amazon Prime Video has announced a slate of three new Spanish original series set for 2020, which will strengthen the streamer’s domestic catalog in the country. It also shared the first trailer for its second Spanish soccer docu-series “El corazón de Sergio Ramos” (The Heart of Sergio Ramos).
In “El Cid,” popular Spanish actor Jaime Lorente, a lead player in Netflix’s two biggest Spanish hits thus far “Money Heist” and “Elite,” will play Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar in a series inspired by the legendary medieval war hero, whose deeds inspired one of the most important of medieval Spanish epic poems, “El Cantar de Mio Cid.”

Amazon is “doubling down” on non-scripted programming in Europe and is looking to reinvent certain factual and entertainment genres. This comes after the Svod announced its first scripted slate since Georgia Brown began leading the company out of London.
Brown, speaking at a Deadline-moderated session at Intv in Israel, admitted that non-scripted can be more challenging than scripted for premium platforms.
“In the scripted space, it’s sometimes a bit more obvious in terms of what works, but in unscripted, it can be more of a question.
