The 19-year-old took the opportunity and hit the ground running by touring the world and making music. Non-profit organization Artist Rights Alliance has issued an open letter focused on the rise of AI in music, signed by over 200 prominent names in the music industry, including Billie Eilish, Pearl Jam, Greta Van Fleet, Jason Isbell, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj,Elvis Costello, Jon Batiste, and Stevie Wonder.
Under the call to “stop devaluing music,” the letter states, “Some of the biggest and most powerful companies are, without permission, using our work to train AI models. These efforts are directly aimed at replacing the work of human artists with massive quantities of AI-created ‘sounds’ and ‘images’ that substantially dilute the royalty pools that are paid out to artists.”
Beyond potential royalty and revenue losses, the letter goes on to push back against the “assault on human creativity” posed by AI. “Unchecked, AI will set in motion a race to the bottom that will degrade the value of our work,” the document reads.

As AI is becoming more and more entrenched in modern music-making, many are testing the boundaries of the still-quite-new technology. One such artist is “You’re Beautiful” singer James Blunt, who asked AI to replicate his lyrical style, only to find that “either AI comes up with something very, very generic or my lyrics are just absolutely mundane.”
The mostly-joking comments from Blunt arrived in his recent interview with Squeeze’s Chris Difford on the podcast I Never Thought It Would Happen. After being asked what he thought about Young people using AI to write lyrics for them, Blunt said, “Every single one of us must have, having heard of [AI], typed in and then written ‘Give me a verse based on this, in the style of, in my case, a James Blunt lyric’”
Whenever he’s done it, though, Blunt was pretty disappointed in the “absolutely mundane” results. “So, AI has...

The witty singer’s superb comeback is a delight to behold in this entertaining fly-on-the-wall documentary
Chris Atkins’ highly entertaining documentary about the soldier turned million-selling singer-songwriter effectively marks the apotheosis of James Blunt’s superb comeback – his rearguard action, in fact, against all the tabloid journalists, trolls and panel-show comics who were using him as a punchline, nettled at his overwhelming success and poshness.
Using skills honed at boarding school, and the possibilities of social media, Blunt neutralised the bullies by laughing at himself first, while also (with a dash of ruthless cunning) picking on civilians, quote-tweeting some member of the general public making a nasty remark and adding a very good gag notionally at his own expense but also embarrassing his tormentor. His Twitter game turned it around – though his sales never appear to have been really affected by the mockery. And throughout this fly-on-the-wall account of Blunt’s international tour,...

“As I drove us out of the parking lot with the paps chasing behind on foot, the girl I’d just met climbed out of the passenger seat, straddled me, and shoved her tongue down my throat – and that’s how I met Lindsay Lohan,” James wrote in the book (via The Mirror).
He continued, “After a brief pit stop at Jamie Foxx‘s hotel room, where he and a few friends were drinking, Lindsay and I headed back to hers. By now it was late, but she’d invited a few people over.

James Blunt revealed that Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, blames him for her mother’s death in 2016.
In his new memoir, Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story, Blunt detailed how he and Fisher were close friends who began using drugs together, which led him and Lourd to have a falling out.
Blunt and Fisher were last together the night before she was found unresponsive while on a flight to Los Angeles.
While there was no definitive cause of death, it was found that Fisher had a mixture of drugs in her system that led her to have a cardiac arrest while on the flight and she died a few days later. According to the toxicology report, Fisher had taken cocaine, Mdma, methadone and heroin.
Fisher had openly spoken about her struggles with drugs and substance abuse before her death. A few days after she passed away, her mother Debbie Reynolds also died.

Anohni’s career has been powered by and fascinated with change. On 2005’s “For Today I Am a Boy,” from I Am a Bird Now, she plainly sang, “One day I’ll grow up, I’ll be a beautiful woman,” anticipating her blossoming evolution as a transgender woman. The artist’s stunning 2016 album Hopelessness was outfitted with chilly, sumptuous electronic soundscapes that pivoted away from the neo-classical palette of her previous work. And My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross, Anohni’s first full-length album in seven years, is another decisive permutation in her musical identity: a swerve into blues rock.
The 10 songs here feature some of Anohni’s most laidback and unfussy arrangements to date. The album’s sound is, like Lana Del Rey’s Ultraviolence, marked by minimalist, sometimes gloomy guitar strumming. My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross was produced by Jimmy Hogarth,...

Katy Perry Makes ‘Incredible’ Transformation Into Disney Superhero For ‘American Idol”s Disney Night
Katy Perry channeled her inner Disney supermom powers for Sunday’s special themed episode of “American Idol”.
For Disney night, the singer decided to dress up like Elastigirl (a.k.a. Mrs. Incredible) from “The Incredibles”.
“I figured out that Mother’s Day and Disney Night were the same night. I had a whole different costume — maybe we’ll never ever see it maybe we’ll see it next time — but I went, ‘No, we’ve got to be the most iconic Disney mom,’ and it’s Elastigirl,” Perry said while speaking with Et’s Denny Directo following Sunday’s new “Idol” episode.
According to Perry, she spent a lot of time watching the movie with her 2-year-old daughter, Daisy — whom she shares with Orlando Bloom — to prepare for embodying the iconic character.

Katy Perry doesn’t mind taking the internet by storm! Even when she doesn’t actually mean to.
Perry was in England earlier this month for the grand coronation ceremony for King Charles III — where she and Lionel Richie performed at the Coronation Concert. However, one moment went viral inadvertently when she couldn’t find her seat for the grand occasion inside Westminster Abbey.
“Well, I just want everybody to know, thank you so much for your concern,” Perry deadpanned while speaking with Et’s Denny Directo following Sunday’s new American Idol. “I found my seat.”
The pop superstar looked stunning in a lilac-colored ensemble, arriving with British Vogue Editor Edward Enniful at Westminster Abbey on May 6. But as she entered the church ahead of the historic ceremony, Perry was spotted wandering around as she struggled to find her seat.

The latest season of American Idol is off to an emotional start in auditions with contestants like Iam Tongi, who brought all the friendly judges to tears. Hailing from Hawaii, Tongi brought a guitar and his heart to the performance. That was all he needed to stir his audience’s feelings, but did he get a golden ticket to Hollywood?

They say the era of movie stars is fading. If so, there are many reasons for that, but it’s funny how movie stardom works. It might be fading…until you see someone who has star quality spilling right out of her. Suddenly, her stardom seems more than a hope — it feels inevitable. That’s what I think about Eve Hewson after watching her in “Flora and Son,” the latest spiky wistful Dublin pop-rock bauble from writer-director John Carney.
Hewson, from “Bad Sisters,” plays the kind of character we’ve seen many times before: a feisty, dissolute single mother who’s swimming in problems, most of them of her own devising, like the fact that she’s trying to be a responsible parent and a party girl at the same time. Hewson’s Flora is an Irish whippersnapper with a 14-year-old son (Orén Kinlan) she does nothing but fight with,...

You know where you are with John Carney — and where you are is a guitar shop in a shabby Dublin back street. Ever since the writer-director broke through with 2007’s buskers-in-love hit, “Once,” he has stuck to small-scale, big-hearted romantic comedy-dramas about aspiring rock and pop musicians.
He has put enough diegetic songs in all of his films for them to count as musicals. And he has restricted himself to untouristy parts of Dublin — most of the time, anyway. “Begin Again,” starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, took him to New York, but he was back in Ireland for “Sing Street” in 2016, and he returns once again for the likable “Flora and Son.”
The title notwithstanding, his new yarn isn’t really about Flora and her son, but about Flora and everyone in her life. Played by Eve Hewson (“The Knick”), Flora stomps through Dublin with a high ponytail and a low-cut top.

ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall defended the network’s morning show anchors Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby over allegations that they skipped a five-mile long queue to see Queen Elizabeth II lying in state two weeks ago.
Ever since Schofield and Willoughby, who host “This Morning” were seen on the live-feed of the lying-in-state, walking through Westminster Hall via the VIP line, the duo have been the subject of much criticism, particularly on social media. A petition titled ‘Axe Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby from TV’ has amassed over 75,000 signatures.
Speaking at the Royal Television Society (Rts) annual convention in London on Tuesday afternoon, McCall defended Schofield and Willoughby and said that ITV had even contacted Domino’s Pizza U.K. to complain about a light-hearted tweet the pizza company had posted poking fun at the controversy.
“What exactly did Holly and Phil do wrong?” asked BBC journalist Amol Rajan, who was interviewing McCall on stage.

James Blunt, the “You’re Beautiful” songwriter who has enjoyed a resurgence thanks to his humorous Twitter presence, will be the focus of an upcoming documentary — well, sort of.
According to Variety, the untitled film will be “the story of an aging, British pop star, still fighting for relevance some 17 years after his star momentarily twinkled.”
“In hindsight, I’m not sure letting them film this was a good idea,” Blunt said of the doc — inspired by mockumentaries like This Is Spinal Tap and I’m Alan Partridge — in a statement.
