The lead singer of Y2K rockers Alien Ant Farm was charged with battery following an incident at a Florida concert where he touched his own genitals with the outreached hand of a fan.
The Broward State Attorney’s Office charged Dryden Mitchell, frontman for the band best known for their nu-metal rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal,” with the misdemeanor battery charge on Dec. 30, two months after the incident occurred during an Alien Ant Farm concert at Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Story teamed up again with composer Christopher Lennertz for the film’s score.
He first made a splash with his breakout score for Alvin And The Chipmunks, which has grossed over $360 million worldwide. Since then he’s proven his steadfast talent with films like the star-studded Horrible Bosses, and Universal’s box office smash Ride Along.
Lennertz’s other recent scores include the hit comedy Identity Thief and the critically acclaimed drama Thanks For Sharing with Mark Ruffalo & Gwyneth Paltrow.

Heavy metal and mainstream pop music, the proverbial oil and water in terms of musical genres, especially to the fans of both. Widely regarded as two concepts that should never be entwined, there have been maestros of metal madness whom have stepped outside the norm and rebelled against the traditional constraints of genre labelling to create some truly awesome covers of some of mainstream pops most iconic songs throughout history.
We here at WhatCulture have previously showcased 10 of heavy metal’s most memorable covers of pop music’s most unforgettable hits in the previous article, but upon our research we found that there were in fact many more out there than previously estimated, and so have compiled another list of 10 extreme versions of your favourite pop idol’s biggest hits.
But, just like the aforementioned piece there will be no mention of Limp Bizkit in regards to their cover of George Michael’s Faith,...

Heavy metal and pop music could not be further apart if there was ever a scale to describe musical genres.
One; a mainly corporately-created genre filled with beautiful people that don’t have to have as much talent as they must have the skills to oversell themselves to the masses. The other; an overly loud sub-species of hard rock driven by a cacophony of sounds and the ability to play hard with a tendency to be a little more than melodramatic. It is the literal definition of chalk and cheese.
So when people hear of metal bands – especially those of the more extreme variety doing covers of iconic pop songs – the masses (with special regards to the older generation) may tend to respond with a roll of the eyes and a huge sigh, as they ponder the days when heavy metal meant something.
But the funny thing that shocks...

Post-grunge, as defined by Urban Dictionary is “Basically a watered-down, radio-friendly version of grunge music.” But as any music snob can tell you, the scourge of post-grunge goes far deeper. But in that case, just what does that really mean?
Much like post-rock and post-metal, post-grunge typically encapsulates the worst tropes of the 90s while endeavouring to reach a much wider audience. While metallic guitars are prevalent, album production is often of an arguably much higher, cleaner quality. However with a more gentrified sound, most post-grunge bands struggle to define themselves as separate entities, often relying on similar sounds and production. Perhaps a better descriptor would be ‘sad hard rock with down tuning’.
But still, some people have built empires of the mope-scream-mope dynamic. Some have risen. Some have fallen. And some have neither done neither, just plodding along and slowly declining as all post-grunge is want to do.
