Phil Karlson’s The Scarface Mob was originally made as a two-part pilot for the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse anthology series before the 80-minute episodes were re-cut for theatrical release. Given the sterility of so much dramatic television in the 1950s, it’s hard to imagine Karlson—best known for hard-hitting noirs like Kansas City Confidential and The Phenix City Story—seeing the format as suitable for his style. But Desi Arnaz, a huge admirer of the latter film, promised Karlson no studio interference. And while The Scarface Mob’s story presents a clear battle between good and evil in the form of Eliot Ness (Robert Stack) and Al Capone’s (Neville Brand) Chicago bootlegging empire, Karlson’s gritty brutality finds its way on-screen as the film conflates the maniacal ruthlessness of both men’s actions.
Stack’s performance went a long way in cementing Ness’s legacy in the public imagination.

Colin Farrell as The Penguin was one of the most terrifying characters in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The way he walked, talked, and acted was enough for many to be convinced that he was truly the best Penguin that DC fans had ever seen. While his acting is to be praised, it is truly the makeup that helped him transform into the notorious crime lord.
Colin Farrell (in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)
Yet, some fans expressed why the production would hire Farrell and transform him into somebody unrecognizable instead of hiring a talented actor with similar looks as Oswald Cobblepot. A pretty viable point, but once fans see the BTS video of Farrell’s transformation, they will certainly appreciate not only the actor but also Matt Reeves’s vision.

On Saturday night, former President Donald Trump told a crowd in Iowa proudly that he’s been “indicted more than Al Capone.”
Capone, a legendary Prohibition-era Chicago mob boss, was ultimately charged with tax evasion because federal prosecutors couldn’t convict him on bigger charges.
The former president has started to use the line more frequently on the campaign trail.
Trump is the first former president to be charged with criminal activity on the state or federal level. He faces four indictments in four different jurisdictions. The charges include counts of fraud, keeping classified documents, Rico violations and scheming to interfere with the transfer of power to President Joe Biden.
He also faces a $370 million business fraud case, in which he delivered the closing arguments against the judge’s orders last week.
Trump now references his record with pride against Capone, noting that the infamous mob boss was only indicted once.

“Succession” series creator Jesse Armstrong writes characters who aren’t equipped for their times – either their inflated egos make them see small slights as momentous personal challenges or their stunted emotional maturity and intellect make them exactly the wrong people to deal with an actual crisis. In the case of “Succession,” it’s often both, and the camera responds accordingly.
Director Mark Mylod and director of photography Patrick Capone have together helmed over 10 episodes of the series together — including Season 4’s Episode 1, “The Munsters,” Episode 3, “Connor’s Wedding,” and Episode 9, “Church and State” — and like to keep the audience just a couple seconds behind and constantly re-finding the characters and the shifting power dynamics of individual scenes. It makes “Succession” look the way it must feel for the Roy siblings: one giant clusterfuck after another.

New Delhi, May 17 (Ians) Data analytics and business intelligence platform Qlik on Wednesday announced it has acquired scalable data management solution provider Talend for an undisclosed sum.
The combined entity is led by CEO Mike Capone, that will expand the company’s capabilities for modern enterprises to access, transform, trust, analyse and take action with data.
“Qlik’s broad expertise in data integration, analytics, AI and machine learning combined with Talend’s data integration and data quality solutions, will provide customers the most comprehensive solution in the industry,” said Capone.
As data fragmentation, driven by thousands of sources and targets, has increased, organisations have had to choose from incomplete legacy solutions, cloud lock-in, or multiple disparate point solutions — all of which come with cost and innovation risks.
“These are two market-leading companies that will enable customers to benefit across the data and analytics lifecycle regardless of where they are in their digital transformation journey,...

Beloved by moviegoers for decades, the mafia film genre typically centers around key players that make up the world of organized crime in various contexts, locations, and cultures, with a sprinkle of family life and a generous serving of violence included in the storylines. The genre traces back to the early beginnings of film, but was popularized by directors like Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese in the 1970s and beyond.
Over the years, the mafia genre has continued to defy stereotypes and include elements from different film genres, like suspense or comedy. The latest mafia-related film, "Mafia Mamma," which hit theaters on April 14, presents a traditional look at the Italian mafia, with a refreshing, comedic tone delivered by Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci. In the film, Colette's character, Kristin, unexpectedly inherits her estranged grandfather's mafia empire in Calabria, Italy, and has to assume the role of mob boss...

It feels weird to spoiler warn something “Succession” has built towards and hinted at since the pilot. But spoilers abound!
Death comes for us all, even for Logan Roy (Brian Cox). The inescapability of that truth, as much as any tears, denial, guilt, and/or panic, is what makes Episode 3, “Connor’s Wedding,” so affecting. The rhythm of the edit and, as director Mark Mylod put it, the “sadism” of the camera reinforces that reality, refusing to let the Roys beg, browbeat, or weasel their way past the one force even Logan couldn’t cow: time.
Mylod and cinematographer Patrick Capone hammer home the helplessness of this moment and the illogical gravity of grief by delivering maybe the fullest version of the visual and dramatic approach that has made “Succession” so remarkable. They, veteran camera operators Gregor Tavenner and Ethan Borsuk, and the shows’ actors stress-tested the series’ preference for...
