Series creator Steven Knight has confirmed that star Cillian Murphy will return as Thomas Shelby for the Peaky Blinders movie. What’s more, Knight signaled a fall start for the production.
Knight dropped the news while speaking to BirminghamWorld at the premiere of his new BBC series, This Town. “He is definitely returning for it,” the screenwriter said of Murphy. “We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
Earlier this month, Murphy expressed his desire to reprise his role as the captivating crime boss. “I have always said that if Knight delivers a script that I know he can deliver, because he is such a phenomenal writer, I’ll be there,” the recent Oscar winner told the Irish Star.
It seems Knight has indeed delivered the script, and Murphy will indeed be there. Knight has had plans for a Peaky Blinders film since before the sixth and final season premiered.

They’re the best. They’re the beautiful. They’re the only, Ghostbusters. And they’re back! The latest Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire trailer fires up the nostalgia with the return of the original team and more familiar faces — some slimier than others.
Blasting into theaters on March 22nd, the fourth entry in the primary Ghostbusters franchise follows 2012’s Afterlife. While some might argue that film leaned perhaps too hard into nostalgia, Frozen Empire isn’t shying away from delivering treats to longtime fans, even as it presents a whole new Big Bad.
In this film, one of the Ghostbusters’ most persistent adversaries, Walter Peck (William Atherton), is still a prickly little thorn in their side, using what appears to be his freshly conferred mayoral powers to shut down the new ‘Busters. But when an ice cold ancient evil arrises, Egon Spengler’s descendants will have to team up with his old brethren in proton packs,...

It seems DC Studios head James Gunn has a superpower all his own: the uncanny ability to get deals done right before a potential actors’ strike. The filmmaker has added Barry star Anthony Carrigan to the cast of Superman: Legacy in the role of the hero Metamorpho.
Carrigan’s casting comes just one day after it was announced that Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi were also joining Gunn’s Man of Steel tale as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific, respectively. The news also arrives hours before the looming SAG-AFTRA strike would begin, meaning Gunn and DC could have been working hard to lock in deals before all negotiations are potentially put on hold.
As for Carrigan’s character, Metamorpho is just the type of quirky comic character Gunn has shown an affinity for in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad. After discovering a strange artifact,...

James Gunn has added three more names to cast of Superman: Legacy, including longtime collaborator Nathan Fillion as the Guy Gardner version of Green Lantern. Additionally, Isabela Merced has been cast as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi will portray Mister Terrific.
Vanity Fair was the first to report the news of the trio’s castings.
Fillion, who appears in many of Gunn’s projects, already had a Dceu role as T.D.K. (The Detachable Kid) in The Suicide Squad. Considering how that character was left at the end of the film, there should be little concern over his new casting. As for the Green Lantern he’ll be portraying, Gardner is one a handful of Earth-based ring-slingers. Unlike the heroic Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds in the best-forgotten 2011 film) or fan-favorite John Stewart, Gardner’s abrasive personality makes his membership in the Lantern Corps contention. Casting Fillion gives a...

The mutants are unleashed in the official trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Coming from “permanent teenager” Seth Rogen, the animated adventure pits our favorite heroes in a half-shell against a new group of mutated animals, led by Ice Cube’s Superfly.
As the new preview reveals, the young Turtles are feeling like outcasts, made to stay hidden inside their sewer lair at the behest of their father, Master Splinter (the legendary Jackie Chan). When their new human friend, April O’Neil (Ayo Edebiri), tells them about the crimewave being carried out by Superfly and his crew, the Turtles see a chance to gain favor from the humans by saving the day.
But Superfly doesn’t want the Turtles to stop him — he wants them to join him. He’s leading a group of mutants on a mission to take over the world.
In addition to a snippet of Rudd’s Gecko voice,...

It’s release week for Foo Fighters, who are set to unveil their new album, But Here We Are, this Friday (June 2nd). With just a few days to go, the band has shared one final preview in the form of the 10-minute rock epic “The Teacher.”
In his review of But Here We Are for Consequence, Associate Editor Paolo Ragusa says “The Teacher” finds Foo Fighters sounding “more threatening and uncertain than they have at any point in their 25+ years.”
Accompanying the song is a short film directed by multimedia artist Tony Oursler, which you can watch below. According to a press release, Oursler came on to the band’s radar through his work with David Bowie, specifically his video for “Where Are We Now?”
Foo Fighters previously previewed But Here We Are with “Rescued,” “Under You,” and “Show Me How.” This past weekend, they performed at both Boston Calling and Sonic Temple.

Nation of Language have shared “Stumbling Still,” a new single from their upcoming album Strange Disciple. Check it out below.
“Stumbling Still” is Nation of Language’s best swing at post-punk. An anxious bassline thumps over sterile electronic drums that call to mind Joy Division’s “She’s Lost Control” as singer Ian Devaney croons, “Waiting for you, waiting for them/ To finally come along/ But it’s just me in my own head/ So Jesus, what do you want?” By the chorus, however, the band’s airy keys offer Devaney’s moody lyrics some levity.
Strange Disciple features the singles “Sole Obsession” and “Weak in Your Light” and is out in full September 15th. Pre-orders are ongoing. As Nation of Language’s third LPs it follows 2020’s Introduction, Presence and 2021’s A Way Forward.
The band will be on the road throughout 2023; grab tickets here and revisit our recap of their New York City show.
