“The Crown” could well bow out in style on home soil, with the final outing of the show leading the list of nominees for the 2024 BAFTA TV and TV Craft awards, announced Wednesday.
Netflix’s hit royal drama — which came to an end last year after six seasons — landed eight nominations in total, including for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville and Salim Daw in the performance categories. However, it missed out for drama series (an award it has been nominated for three times previously).
Just behind “The Crown” and also a Netflix production, the apocalyptic “Black Mirror” episode “Demon 79” earned seven nominations, including limited drama and leading actress for Anjana Vasan.
Further down in a tight group of frontrunners, BBC dramas “Happy Valley” and “The Sixth Commandment and Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses” each have six nominations. Sarah Lancashire’s leading actress nomination for “Happy Valley” could see...

Salim Daw and Lesley Manville are the other two nominated actors and actresses, while The Crown also received nominations in the likes of costume design, make up and sound.
Netflix achieved a record haul and was second only to the BBC with nominations, comfortably eclipsing stalwarts ITV and Channel 4 as Top Boy and Black Mirror were also rewarded.
Although not its most critically-rated season, Peter Morgan’s royal saga ended late last year with a bang and plenty controversy, and the noms come amid the ongoing Kate Middleton saga.

UK factual specialist Zinc Media Group has completed a £4m ($5.2M) fund raise to help fuel growth. The funds were conditionally raised in a fundraising round in the City which closed on 27 October.
The new investment, raised through a new share issue and conditional on a green-light at an upcoming Agm, is aimed at driving growth in 2021 and follows a previous round which the company says attracted £3.5m of new funds in January this year.
According to the group, the January funding allowed the firm to invest in several senior creative appointments; launch a new Branded Content division, headed by Dominic de Terville, launch a new factual entertainment and formats label Red Sauce, headed by Tom Edwards; build a new post production facility; move its London operations to a new office; and strengthen its corporate infrastructure. The group announced back in September that it would also explore targeted M&a.

Legendary comedian Peter Sellers is to be the subject of an in-depth BBC Two single documentary from acclaimed factual producer Brook Lapping, whose credits include “Trump’s First 100 Days” and “The Rise and Fall of Tony Blair.”

Zinc Media Group, the UK factual producer that houses indies behind shows like Inside Europe: 10 Years Of Turmoil, has secured £3.5M ($4.6M) of investment in a City fundraising round.
Zinc raised the cash through a new share issue, which was supported by existing investors, including the company’s biggest shareholder, Herald Investment Management.
The funds will be used to invest in talent at Zinc’s production companies — which include bluechip factual producers Brook Lapping, Blakeway and Films Of Record — new technology, and the group’s out-of-London push.
Zinc CEO Mark Browning said: “As well as strengthening our TV footprint in the UK, we are also securing more U.S. commissions, so need to invest further behind this growth. We have a fantastic senior creative team and this additional funding will help us extend that team even further. There is no better time for us to be investing in our creative growth.

U.K. factual group Zinc Media Group has drawn $4.5 million (£3.5 million) to accelerate its growth through a recent City fundraising round.
The business’s portfolio contains six factual brands, including Blakeway, Blakeway North, Brook Lapping, Films of Record, Reef and Tern Television.
The $4.5 million pot of money was raised through a new share issue, which won support from existing shareholders and a number of new institutional investors.
The investment comes during a purple patch for high-end factual out of the U.K. and soaring private equity interest in premium TV. Last year, Plimsoll Productions, makers of National Geographic’s “Hostile Planet With Bear Grylls,” won a multi-million-dollar investment from private equity firm Ldc valuing the business at $104 million (£80 million).
Mark Browning, CEO of Zinc, said the new funds will allow the business to “further invest in creative talent, invest in our nations and regions operations and invest in technology to...
