Deadline reports that Paramount and Indian Paintbrush are the latest to join the foreign book craze, having pointed resources toward Syndrome E — a soon-to-be-translated, first-in-a-trilogy French novel from Franck Thilliez. Said to be a mix of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Se7en, Syndrome E centers on Lucie Hennebelle, a detective who investigates “an extremely rare and spectacularly violent film from the 1950s,” after his friend watches the film and develops blindness.
Five men have been left dead on account of its raw power, and Hennebelle starts working with a fellow detective to uncover the secret behind “what has to be the most disturbing and powerful film ever made,” created by someone who could be “the personification of evil and the origins of violence.”
Dragon Tattoo‘s screenwriter, Steve Zaillian, will produce through Film Rites (with Garret Basch), along with Steven Rales and Mark Roybal.

The Royal Honours Society , meanwhile, comes from Ernest Lupinacci and will be produced by Joe Roth and Palak Patel. Think of this new movie project like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but done for the writers of the League characters. Sony Pictures has bought an idea for a movie called The Royal Honours Society which postulates English 19th century novelists H.G. Wells (The War of the Worlds), Jules Verne (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea), Robert Louis Stevenson (The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) and some unrevealed others.
The idea was pitched by Ernest Lupinacci and has producers Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) and Palak Patel (Snow White and the Huntsman) working on it. Lupinacci hasn't any screenwriting credits to his name but he sold another idea, called the Museum of Supernatural History, to DreamWorks a while back.

In a pre-emptive move, Sony has picked up The Royal Honour Society, a literary-themed action-adventure pitch from Ernest Lupinacci. Joe Roth and Palak Patel are attached to produce. Details are vague, but it's described as the iconic stories of some of England's greatest writers from the late 19th century -- among them H.G. Wells (The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man), Jules Verne (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth), Robert Louis Stevenson (Treasure Island, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) -- together in an action-adventure tale. Etan Cohen has been hired by DreamWorks Studios to write the screenplay for a feature based on the Museum of SuperNatural History Web site. The studio recently picked up feature adaptation rights to the Musunahi brand.
Created and curated by Ernest Lupinacci, the blog-style site covers all things spooky, mythical and conspiracy-minded. A former creative director for Nike and Espn, Lupinacci has said his creation is designed to "be to the paranormal world what National Geographic is to the real world."
Cohen's feature adaptation will follow the curator of a covert organization known as the Museum of SuperNatural History who must seek out and protect the world's best-kept secrets -- think Stonehenge, the Sphinx, scientific breakthroughs.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who are producing the upcoming DreamWorks comedy "Dinner for Schmucks," are producing and developing the project as part of their financing arrangement with Imagenation Abu Dhabi. Lupinacci is an executive producer.

Studios are reaping the fields for new ideas, apparently even looking towards blogs as potential film fare. At least that’s what DreamWorks is doing, as they have taken notice in Musunahi, also known as the Museum of SuperNatural History, an online resource which curator, and former creative director at Nike and Espn, Ernest Lupinacci sees as the paranormal equivalent to National Geographic. The site covers everything from little green men, to the lost city of Atlantis, to the mysteries of the Pyramids, the Sphinx and Stonehenge and more.

The closest we've ever come to seeing a blog adapted to a movie was last year's Julie & Julia (correct me if I am wrong), but even that was an adaptation of a book which was in turn about Julie Powell writing on her blog. But now, an actual blog, all on its own, will be adapted to a film as THR's Heat Vision reports that a strange blog known as The Museum of SuperNatural History has been picked up by DreamWorks to be turned into some sort of feature film. The museum's "curator," Ernest Lupinacci, seems to be having a laugh at the supernatural "wonders" of the world, but more than jokes, there's some killer material found there. Lupinacci considers the museum to "be to the paranormal world what National Geographic is to the real world." The blog's tone is serious, but at times the content is laughable. ...

These days if you want to get your blog turned into a book or movie, you're gonna need more than a gimmick-- you need a killer name to go with it. Luckily The Museum of Supernatural History has both, and Hollywood has taken notice; THR reports that DreamWorks is planning to turn the whole thing into a movie. Ernest Lupinacci, the webmaster of the site that reports on things like time-travelers tampering with the Large Hadron Collider or sightings of Sasquatch and the Loch Ness Monster, will produce the film. He told THR that the "inherent drama" of his mission to document the unusual "is that every time we shatter or even question an accepted belief, we have the potential to answer the eternal question, why are we here?" He is ignoring the fact that people like hearing about weird shit, and he has a great title to get people...

I think we're now one small step closer to /Film: The Movie. There's a weird science / aliens among us / Sasquatch-spotting blog out there called The Museum of SuperNatural History, and it has just been optioned as fodder for a DreamWorks movie. The studio doesn't yet have a script or even a concrete idea of what to do with the property, but evidently the name is enough. THR reports on the project, and says that the basic idea is to come up with a story that sounds like Men in Black with a supernatural bent. The film might follow the curator of an organization called the Museum of SuperNatural History that "must seek out and protect the world's best-kept secrets." The trade got quite a few quotes from MuSuNaHi founder Ernest Lupinacci, who said "The inherent drama, action and adventure of that mission -- especially from a storytelling point ...

DreamWorks Studios is developing a movie version of the bizarre and unusual blog known as the Museum of SuperNatural History says the Hollywood Report's Heat Vision Blog. The museum's curator, Ernest Lupinacci, considers his creation a "trans-media brand" designed to "be to the paranormal world what National Geographic is to the real world." Lupinacci, who will executive produce the film project, described Musunahi as "a multimedia brand whose purpose is to study, protect, explore and explain the unexplainable." The question is how will they turn the concept of this blog into a movie? The article states that DreamWorks is talking to various writers about the screenplay, which would center on the curator of a covert organization known as the...

Need a one-stop shop for all the weird, supernatural phenomena that constantly crop up in the world? Welcome to the Musunahi (bless you). Better known as the Museum of SuperNatural History, the web resource for strange, inexplicable and quirky info and discoveries, it's now being considered by DreamWorks as the jumping off point for a movie.Launched by "curator" Ernest Lupinacci, it's described by the man himself as fulfilling a mission to "be to the paranormal world what National Geographic is to the real world".Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, producers Walter Parkes and Laurie McDonald are busy exploring ways to turn it into a film. In what sounds like a cross between Men In Black and The Da Vinci Code (or, and this might pose more of a legal challenge, the Us SyFy network's show Warehouse 13, since it covers much of the same territory), the plot would...
