Selected at TIFF’s Filmmaker Lab, Cannes’ Sources 2 program and Madrid’s Ecam Incubator, “Still Life with Ghosts” marks the first feature from Spain’s Enrique Buleo, director of shorts such as “Decorosa” and “Hell and Such,” which played Clermont-Ferrand and Palm Springs, Slamdance, Nashville and many other events, garnering praise and plaudits.
A five-part black comedy, “Still Life with Ghosts” is set in a Spanish village where ghosts and live people come to each other’s aid, trying to find a solution to the problems that are haunting them.
“Ghosts” is produced by Alejandra Mora at Valencia-based Quatre Films which co-produced Javier Tolentino’s “Blues for Tehran” alongside Luis Miñarro’s Eddie Saeta.
How would you introduce your debut to industry players who could be potentially interested?

Palme d’Or winning producer Luis Miñarro (“Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”) is set to direct his fifth feature, ”Impalpable” (a working title), produced by Miñarro’s label, Barcelona-based Eddie Saeta, one of Spain’s most prominent arthouse shingles.

stranger as the bus make no stops. Nor can the passengers descend.
“Impalpable”‘s cast will include Naomi Kawase, Geraldine Chaplin and Spain’s Lola Dueñas (“The Sea Inside”) and Francesc Orella (“Julia’s Eyes”), among others.
By chance, though with foresight, ”I first thought of this project before the pandemic. It’s a homage to Luis Buñuel’s ‘The Exterminating Angel,’” Miñarro told Variety. Over three days and two nights, its characters get to know one another, as the audience enters the minds of main characters, unleashing...

After serving as a Cannes Jury member back in May, Naomi Kawase (her most recent directing gigs include The Mourning Forest and Hanezu) is going to begin lensing her next feature film this fall. Variety reports that Japanese helmer’s Still the Water will be repped by MK2, the French prod-distrib-sales co. as acquired international sales rights to what is being pegged as a drama, which once again involves a form of teamwork between members of the opposite gender. France’s Commes des Cinemas is producing with Japan’s Kumie Inc.. Arte France Cinema and Eddie Saeta are co-producing. Seeing she is a long-standing VIP member in Cannes, a 2014 berth for the project is a given, with a Main Comp slot or least likely, the Un Certain Regard showing the most likely scenario.
