Let's all have a moment of silence for Dr. Peter Prentice of "The Mindy Project." Okay, he's not actually dead (come on, this isn't "Scandal"), but he may as well be -- because he's moved to Texas, likely never to return. Sure, Fox says that Adam Pally will make guest appearances as his schedule permits, but then hey -- they said the same exact things about Anna Camp and Zoe Jarman, and we haven't seen them once. Apparently, a midseason departure for Pally has always been in the cards -- he's got a lot of other projects, after all. He recently signed a two-year deal with ABC as a producer (his production company is cleverly named "Clone Wolf"), and he's also set to star in "Dirty Grandpa" alongside Robert De Niro and Zac Efron... yeah, those guest appearances are looking less and less likely. Although he was only on the...

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from the season-three episode, "No More Mr. Noishe Guy," of Fox's The Mindy Project.] Last Tuesday's episode of The Mindy Project was simultaneously an end and a beginning — one that executive producer Matt Warburton says reinforces the series' focus on "adult romance." Though the episode was a sendoff for Adam Pally's Peter Prentice, who opted to quit his job at Shulman & Associates and move to Texas with Lauren (Tracey Wigfield), he dropped a bomb as he was leaving New York City: He told Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) that she's pregnant — a shocking

Adam Pally joined The Mindy Project in its second season as Shulman & Associates' eye-roll-inducing, resident bro, Dr. Peter Prentice. But his character gradually turned lovable, filling the show's Bff quota after all of Mindy’s female friends mysteriously disappeared. One and a half seasons later, Pally’s contract with the show is up, and tonight marked his last appearance as a regular on The Mindy Project, a move that did not sit well with fans. The farewell episode [spoiler alert] leaves Peter as he moves to Texas to be with Lauren, his ex-girlfriend who cheated on him with his co-worker and continued to use him as her child's babysitter. Good luck with that, Peter! Vulture caught up with Pally ahead of his Mindy send-off to discuss whether Lauren is right for Peter, and his aberrant turn guest-hosting The Late Late Show. The Mindy Project fans have been pretty vocally upset about Peter's departure.

We've waited patiently through the cold, Mindy Lahiri-less holidays, and now we're pleased to say that "The Mindy Project" finally returns to our TV sets tonight. When we last left our favorite on-screen Ob-gyn she had just been accepted to a competitive medical fellowship at Stanford. So, what happens now? We got the chance to speak with Mindy Kaling via email about what this means for Danny and Mindy and what else we can expect as Season 3 continues.
Moviefone: The mid-season finale left off with Mindy and Danny in a good place. What can we expect for these two as the season progresses? Any bumps in the road coming their way?
Mindy Kaling: Danny and Mindy will always have a tumultuous relationship, in bad times or good. It's going to be fun to see how they face the specific challenges we throw at them in the spring.

Shulman & Associates is undergoing another staffing change.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Adam Pally‘s run as a Mindy Project series regular will come to an end in early 2015.
I’m told Pally’s pact with the Fox comedy was always set to expire with this season’s 13th episode. He joined the show as Dr. Peter Prentice at the start of Season 2 and was quickly upgraded to a regular. Pally is expected to make occasional guest appearances as his schedule permits.
The former Happy Endings actor recently inked a deal with ABC Studios to produce projects for broadcast, cable and new media.

Snubbed for an Emmy for her work on Fargo, Allison Tolman will guest star on The Mindy Project for two episodes as romance novelist Abby Berman. She'll be going on a blind date with manic man-child gynecologist Peter Prentice (Happy Endings alum Adam Pally), who promises to be a terrible companion. In addition to Tolman, the third season's packed guest list includes Shonda Rhimes (as herself, naturally) and Cheers' Rhea Perlman as Danny Castellano's mom. The season premieres Tuesday, September 16.

I don’t think I’ve ever had the privilege of being in a bromance but the time I spent with Adam Pally in the elevator come pretty close — I’m just sure of it!
Whoa! I mean, he’s just the coolest and so nice! I love him in the online series, Game of Bros, and I’m obviously the biggest fan of his role as Peter Prentice on The Mindy Project. So thank goodness I got the chance to also have him question my taste and love for flannel? Haha. Perhaps my “Best of Flannel” shirt was too much for him but luckily my energy wasn’t! Adam was completely down to chat!
In fact, we talk about his life growing up in New Jersey, his thoughts on playing a gynecologist, and even his alcohol-induced online shopping addiction. He once bought a motorcycle and he hasn’t even been on one.

If you're a diehard fan of "New Girl," you're probably pleased as punch that Damon Wayans Jr. returned to the show to reprise his role of Coach. Wayans Jr. appeared on the pilot of "New Girl" when the future of "Happy Endings" looked shaky, but he left his roomies behind once "Happy Endings" got renewed. Sadly, "Happy Endings" got canned anyway, but the loss is somewhat mitigated by the return of Coach and Wayans Jr. on "New Girl."
Even though Wayans Jr. has been totally rocking out as Coach in every episode, he was still being billed as a guest star. Come on, even Winston's cat Ferguson gets better billing than that! But now it's offish: The handsome comedian will be a regular on the fourth season of "New Girl," which means we can only hope for more amazing Coach insights like, "It really bums me out that I will...

Adam Pally is emerging as one of the most consistently funny people on TV. He was brilliant as the venomously snarky and constantly unemployed Max on Happy Endings (R.I.P.) and is killing it as bro-doc Peter Prentice on The Mindy Project. He’s also a longtime friend, after we met doing improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC back when people had to text on flip phones. That’s why I feel pretty comfortable asking him about his farts.
Pally and I sat down for an interview over a heated game of Operation, which is surprisingly hard and still terrifying to play as an adult (or is that just me?). We talked about everything from the challenges of playing a gynecologist to, yes, farting in front of someone very, very famous. We also removed a pair of headphones out of man’s armpit. Can you guess who won?...

Ever wanted to watch a Berenstain Bears book brought to life in prime-time television? Tuesday night's (Oct. 22) episode of "The Mindy Project," "Bro Club for Dudes," does the trick, as the boys club of the Schulman and Associates office essentially staged their own version of the seminal classic Berenstain Bears "No Girls Allowed."

The Cocoa Spheres and glass noodle salad, all set to Les Miz, in the opening sad-single-girl bit were perfect; the rest of the episode was less clear. First, Mindy is tripping over packages that she subsequently delivered (with outraged rants) to a semi-cute lawyer/fish-oil enthusiast. This scene in itself delivers some vintage Mindy, with references to Fat Steps athletic shoes (seriously, when will we realize that just wearing a certain kind of shoe is not going to make us look like Brooke Burke?) and the line, “I’m adorable — I look like Keira Knightley running errands.” But I’m a little confused: Should I pay attention to the lawyer with the online shopping program, like, as a potential love interest? And/or should I pay attention to possible new doctor Peter Prentice? Or both? Or neither? Some of the confusion may be worth it for the Pearson, Castellano, Reed & Prentice sign revelation,...

At the start of this week's episode, we found Mindy still reeling from her breakup with Casey.
It wasn't long before we met Cliff Gilbert, an attractive lawyer with an online shopping problem. Despite their contentious first encounter, you got the feeling we will see the two involved at some point.
In the meantime, Mindy still had to find a way to deal with her grief. Danny would have been the obvious choice to come to her aid, but "Magic Morgan" took an interesting turn when Morgan knocked on her door.
I'm not sure there is enough wine in Manhattan to make Mindy's judgement so impaired that she would try to sleep with Morgan. Although you can't blame her for being intrigued after hearing about Morgan's most recent breakup and his uncanny track record with woman.
Morgan: Do you remember my ex girlfriend Vicky?
Mindy: No.
Morgan: Ok, well anyway,...

The Mindy Project opened in church this week, as Casey's congregation welcomed back their pastor.
With the bass thumping and the music blaring, I was actually happy to see him back doing what he seemed to do so effortlessly. The joy was short lived, though, as he quickly announced he was leaving the church to become a DJ. Mindy's expression of shock mirrored those of Casey's flock at her fiancé's unexpected announcement.
After the opening credits, "Music Festival" moved back to the office where Jeremy reviewed resumes of potential replacements for Paul. I'm sure any viewers who are Duke University alums didn't appreciate being mentioned in the same light as the Somali Online School of Medicine, but then Mindy Kaling poked fun at her own alma mater as we met Dr. Peter Prentice (Adam Pally) from Dartmouth.
The Happy Endings star didn't make the best first impression on the staff at Schulman & Associates.
