Scott Marshall’s debut feature takes place over the course of a single day in a camera store located in a nondescript suburban mall. No doubt the writer/director intended for the intimate story to be a microcosm of personal crises set against the backdrop of a business being made obsolete by the ravenous forces of modernization. Unfortunately, watching Camera Store mainly feels like, well, spending an entire day in a camera store in a nondescript suburban mall. In a rare big-screen starring role, veteran actor and Emmy Award-winner John Laroquette plays Ray, the beleaguered, dyspeptic manager of Bibideaux’s Family Photographic. The...

Fortunately, America’s bartenders and spirits makers have answered the call, crafting drinks that play in to the themes of some of this year’s nominated pictures. We got as always a filled up big couch of casting news from around tinsel town and some of these are names we haven’t heard in awhile such as Christopher Walken and Dustin Hoffman but even Keanu Reeves is a name you do not hear much anymore. Check out the news on all their latest projects below on today’s Casting Couch.
– Keanu Reeves has signed on as the male lead for Morgan Creek’s latest project, Passengers, to be directed by Italian auteur Gabriele Muccino. Dubbed as “Adam & Eve in Space.” The film also will have a couple of comedic roles and set designs will be created by some of the wizards who worked on Avatar. Set in the future, Passengers centers on Jim Preston (Reeves), a mechanic on a 120-year journey to a distant colonized planet in another galaxy, who becomes the first traveler to experience pod hibernation failure.

Who doesn't love Christopher Walken? No one! THR reports that Walken is currently negotiating to join the cast of the forthcoming action comedy Wild Oats directed by Scott Marshall. The cast includes Shirley MacLaine, Maria Bello, Christina Ricci, John Corbett and Bill Pullman in a story about a widow who finds herself heading to Las Vegas with her granddaughter after a pile of money falls in her lap. I'm guessing that whoever lost that money will actually go after them, hence the "action" part of this. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Connecticut and Nevada this August. The script for this was written by newcomer Claudia Myers. This doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't really sound interesting either. Although I love Walken and Pullman (just think of True Lies), this sounds like another one of those generic action comedies that will probably go under-the-radar until a trailer hits or it...

With a shrug and a twitch and a twinkle in his eye, Christopher Walken looks set to join the cast of the action comedy Wild Oats. Did you ever watch Thelma & Louise and wish that pair of fugitives included a spunky elderly woman? Well, Hollywood has answered your prayers. Variety reports that Shirley MacLaine and Christina Ricci will play a fugitive grandmother-granddaughter pair in Wild Oats, a movie that will either be silly fun or unbearable-- there really is no in-between. Maria Bello has also signed on, and John Corbett and Bill Pullman are considering roles as well, but MacLaine and Ricci are apparently the main attractions. The adventure starts when MacLaine receives a Social Security check mistakenly made out for $900,000 instead of $900, and like any good senior citizen, she opts to take that money to Vegas. Scott Marshall, whose name is so common on IMDb that it's hard to figure out what he might have done before, will be directing.
