Football wouldn’t be the same without poor refereeing. What would we moan about after the game or scream about during it?
Imagine a match where the officials get everything correct and you trot home afterwards with three points in your rucksack and a beaming smile across your face. Actually, that sounds brilliant doesn’t it? Although, if you’re a Newcastle United fan it’s probably a feeling that you have rarely felt?
The people of Tyneside enjoy a good rant about an incompetent official almost as much as seeing the ball hit the back of the net and luckily for them there has been a number of disgraceful decisions to analyse throughout the Magpies’ Premier League history.
There is nothing more gut wrenching than a wrongly disallowed goal that would have put your side in front against Manchester United or a player being...

Newcastle United have had two players sent off during their first four Premier League games and received 11 bookings.
Aleksandar Mitrovic was shown a red card by Andre Marriner against Arsenal last weekend and Daryl Janmaat was dismissed by Mike Jones during Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat against Swansea.
Both games have resulted in defeat and Magpies’ midfielder Moussa Sissoko is hoping that the team will learn from their undisciplined performances and believes the team can go forward if they keep eleven men on the pitch.
Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Sissoko said:
“When you play 10 against 11 it’s hard, and when you play against a big team like Arsenal it’s too hard.
“We tried to do our best. We showed some good things.
“Defensively, we were very good, and they scored in the second half.
“We have to learn about this game and try to be careful with tackles and fouls.

Newcastle United’s naive performance in their 2-0 loss to Swansea City highlighted a hidden ignorance unearthed by their muddled point against Southampton last weekend – and the footballing pundits have lambasted them for that.
The Swans had a philosophy and the players executed it perfectly, whereas Steve McClaren’s side hopelessly tried to emulate their opponents’ possession-based system despite having neither. The Magpies’ nervous attempts at splitting the centre-backs and replacing them with Vurnon Anita looked extremely raw and, even prior to Daryl Janmaat’s inexcusable sending-off, they were outclassed by Garry Monk’s well-oiled unit.
Surprisingly Janmaat hadn’t done his homework last week despite Jefferson Montero’s exceptional performance against Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic being reported almost as much as the situation with the Blues’ club doctor. The Dutch defender simply couldn’t handle the Swansea winger’s pace and, after being humiliated by...

If you want to make a successful pitch video for a crowd funding campaign, ensure it has a sizzling start, exudes happiness and empathy and avoids melodramatic or overly emotional language.
Among the other prerequisites: Keep it simple, use an on-camera presenter who is passionate and demonstrates trustworthiness, and try to ensure the viewer can relate to the central themes of the video.
Those are among the conclusions from a study conducted by Jessica Milne for her thesis for the Master of Screen Arts and Business program at Aftrs. Milne presented her paper From the Heart to the Hip-Pocket at a function at Aftrs on Thursday evening.
She tested 10 pitch videos for international documentaries that each sought $US50,000 for completion funding, five from successful campaigns and five from unsuccessful campaigns.
Testing was carried out with focus groups and via a survey of 199 respondents. The study incorporated an applied neuroscience test...

Barack Obama did his part to play nice at the polls! On Monday afternoon, the president was casting his vote early for Chicago's midterm elections when he encountered a jealous boyfriend with a big mouth! The boyfriend, identified by Today as Mike Jones, addressed Obama as he voted alongside Jones' gal Aia Cooper, saying, "Mr. President, don't touch my girlfriend now." "Did you just say that?" asked Cooper. Obama heard Jones loud and clear, though, and without missing a beat, he responded flatly, "You know, I really wasn't planning on it." Cooper apologized for her boyfriend's immaturity, but that wasn't the end of it. "Now, there's an example...

While standing at a voting booth in Chicago on Monday, President Obama ended up in a funny, awkward love triangle. He was standing beside a woman named Aia Cooper when her fiancé, Mike Jones, called out, "Mr. President, don't touch my girlfriend." Surprised and amused, Obama replied, "I really wasn't planning on it," saying that was "an example of a brother just embarrassing you for no reason." Cooper cracked up and apologized for her fiancé, and after some hilarious back-and-forth, Obama leaned in for a hug and a kiss, saying, "Now he's really jealous." Cooper joked, "On the cheek, just the cheek! Please, Michelle, don't come after me - just the cheek!" Watch the funny interaction above and then check out more viral videos.

'Don't Touch My Girlfriend'
"Mr. President, don't touch my girlfriend," Chicago resident Mike Jones joked to the President of the United States, according to CNN. In response, Obama quipped, "I really wasn't planning on it," adding to say, “There’s an example of a brother just embarrassing you for no reason."
Jones’ betrothed Aia Cooper was embarrassed by his shenanigans, saying, “I am sorry, please excuse him. I knew he was going to say something smart, but I didn’t know what he was going to say.”
Obama, having fun with the voters, imagined what Cooper and Jones would be telling their friends after leaving the voting station. “You’ll be going back home talking to your friends about this.

A 2-0 win to City may sound like a fairly routine result in this fixture but the score line does little to reflect the controversy and drama that surrounded events on the pitch at St James’ Park this afternoon.
Newcastle had the better of the opening exchanges with some high tempo pressing but the Magpies fell behind in the eighth minute to a slick passing move, the kind of which have become a trademark of Pellegrini’s side. Silva’s pinpoint through ball found Kolarov and with Yanga Mbwia nowhere to be seen, the City full back wasted little time in whipping in a cross for Dzeko to finish from close range. The Bosnian striker left Steven Taylor in his wake as he muscled past him for a tap in en-route to handing the Citizens the lead.

Mauricio Pochettino advised a need for cool heads after his Southampton bench were involved in an ugly mass brawl with their Newcastle counterparts after a bad-tempered game at St. James’ Park.
The match itself ended as a 1-1 draw but was somewhat overshadowed by the blown-up argument between Newcastle’s goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman and his opposite Toni Jiminez, who was sent to the stands.
Yet Saints’ Argentinean manager, speaking afterward through a translator, advised caution concerning the spat, defending his bench’s overall conduct compared to other Premier League outfits. He said:
“Lets stay calm – we need to be calm about what happened today – we need to keep it indoors, not make a big thing out of it.
I”f there’s a committee that has to make a decision about that then we’ll wait for a decision and we’ll see from there on.

A Jay Rodriguez goal helped clawed back a point for Southampton against Newcastle in a bad-tempered match at St. James’ Park packed with incident.
Yoan Gouffran earlier notched his fifth goal of the season before the Saints drew level, and as tempers frayed there was a bizarre injury to the referee and a brawl in the dug-out.
The hosts were first to threaten after just five minutes as full-back Mathieu Debuchy took the ball on the volley and rocketed an edge-of-the-box howitzer past the onlooking Andrea Gazzaniga’s left post.
And six minutes later Newcastle continued their early pressing – with the Saints defence dug in on the goal-line after a goalmouth scramble, Loic Remy found his open-goal attempt blocked.
The visitors mustered their first effort on target just after the quarter-hour mark, as young midfielder James Ward-Prowse attempted a tame shot from distance, easily gathered by Tim Krul.

Miranda Kerr opened up about her relationship with Orlando Bloom in the November issue of Cosmopolitan, and her comments gave us some insight into how the two stars get along. For one thing, the two like to keep their work lives separate and Miranda, who runs her own skin care company when she isn't modeling, doesn't like to be the boss at home. Keep reading to find out what we discovered about the Kerr-Bloom relationship. Miranda likes to be feminine at home: "Don’t feel like you have to do and be everything. Let the man do some things for you, because if he cares for you, he will want to. When I get home, I’m not the boss like I am at work - I slip into a more feminine role. I take everything off and put on my Stella McCartney silk robe. I’ll put on a red lip or red nails,...

Ryse: Son of Rome
DualShockers has posted comparison photos and videos of the previous E3 build and the current version of the Xbox One title "Ryse: Son of Rome".
The graphics for the original version boasted 150,000 polygons per character model. In the new build, that has been reduced to 85,000, but the freeing up of the processor now allows for more stable frame rates and better shading. Which looks better, check out the comparison shot below and decided for yourself.
Dead Rising 3
Despite rumors, it has been confirmed that the upcoming "Dead Rising 3" will be an Xbox One exclusive, No 360 version has been developed.
Capcom producer Mike Jones says the reason is that the game was "originally developed it on PC and everything we were doing was breaking the bank on [Xbox] 360". [Source: Examiner]

Capcom has just released a brand new highlight reel for their upcoming Xbox One exclusive, "Dead Rising 3." It stars producer Mike Jones, art director Alan Jarvie, and executive producer/creative lead Josh Bridge, all discussing at length how they believe their latest effort sets the bar that all other zombie kill-a-thons must now aim for.
Much of it centered on all the different kinds of zombies that one will encounter (each is a precious snowflake we are told), along with all the different ways in which the player can dispose of them. Naturally, much of this due to the power of the next generation console that's driving the show.
And the game does look mighty impressive, on a purely technical level. Zombies are legitimately scarier when you can see their teeth and tongue, ready to taste your tender flesh:
Though one cannot help still bemoan the new game's art direction,...

Audiences today often don't know the name of a play until just before its run starts. But would you book a ticket for a show without a title?
With a new play, audiences never quite know what they're getting, but early ticket-buyers for Anthony Neilson's latest piece at the Royal Court were taking an exceptionally wild shot in the dark. Originally advertised several months ago as "Untitled New Play by Anthony Neilson", it was only revealed to be called Narrative on 15 March, three weeks before opening.
Neilson's play joins a very small sub-set of theatre productions that have been delivered onto the posters unbaptised. The other most recent British example was Mike Leigh's 2011 show at the National theatre, promoted and sold for several months as "New play by Mike Leigh", before, at the last minute, becoming Grief.
In both cases, the delay resulted not from indecision or wilfulness...
