Don't expect Joanne Froggatt to show up to tonight's Emmy Awards in her Downton Abbey maid's uniform.
The actress, who plays Anna the lady's maid, has said that she will miss the show but not what she's had to wear over its six series.
14 things that happen in every Downton Abbey episode
"I used to love wearing black at home but I've noticed I don't so much since Downton," she told The Telegraph's Stella magazine.
However, Froggatt did admit there was an advantage to having a limited wardrobe on the show, and not just because she could lie down at lunchtime without fear of ruining a delicate and very expensive dress.
"We barely had to do any costume fittings," she explained. "We'd get two dresses at the beginning of the series and that would be that for six months of shooting. Whereas Michelle, Laura and the others were going in...

"Corralling us all is tricky enough for the best of times, but I would be up for it, certainly."
Froggatt added: "Me too, if we can get everybody together again.

After nearly a year away, it’s finally time to revisit the upstairs-downstairs drama of PBS’s “Downton Abbey.”
The new season continues in the Roarin’ 20s, an age of dramatic social and political change – guaranteed to annoy the Earl of Grantham, Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville). Radio will begin permeating homes and it’s bound to hit the Abbey sooner than later, further filling its occupants’ minds with ideas and visuals from far flung places.
Starting in 1924, Season 5 ties up several mysteries that have been haunting the Abbey for years and also settles some romantic storylines. Downstairs, alliances will form...

Simon Cowell has lost £4 million on 'I Can't Sing!'. The critically-acclaimed stage show - which is based on 'The X Factor', is to close on May 10, just six weeks after it opened at the London Palladium, and it has now emerged that it is one of the most expensive shows ever to have such a short run. Simon's company Syco put up more than half of the £7 million budget for the production - which was written by Harry HIll and stars Nigel Harman - with Stage Entertainment UK, Glass Half Full Productions and Just For Laugh Theatricals also investing. It was nervous and shellshocked Big Brother contestants who used to be told "it's all panto", but the phrase could just as easily apply to The X Factor. The singing behemoth has always been an over-the-top production, a ludicrous parade of contestants and a fantasy world of dance routines and sparkly outfits. To be honest, that's part of why we love it - it just wouldn't be as much fun without a bit of excess, would it? But it's also why The X Factor seems to lend itself to the exuberant world of the stage.
I Can't Sing! has been dogged by pre-opening night problems - cancelled shows, technical problems (understandable, given the truly impressive set) - but now that it's finally flung its doors open to the wider public, is it actually any good? Well, sometimes. But the first thing to know is that this is not your standard...

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman made their first public appearance since becoming parents on Thursday night. The couple stepped out for the press night of I Can't Sing! The X Factor Musical in London, in which Simon is played by UK actor Nigel Harman. Simon was first hesitant about the project, saying that if it was too pompous, "it would be rubbish," and that he didn't want it to appear "like a cash cow," but he came around with one big takeaway. "I wanted it to be a celebration of the show, but at the same time poke fun at what we do, because you can't take it too seriously," he said last year. Simon is headed back to The X Factor UK for its 11th season this summer, and his personal life has been very busy since his son, Eric, was born on Valentine's Day. The proud dad has...

‘X Factor’ Musical ‘I Can’t Sing’ Delays Previews By Two Days Previews of Simon Cowell‘s The X Factor musical, I Can’t Sing, have been postponed by two days at the London Palladium. Stage Entertainment and Syco Entertainment are producing the show and say they’ve decided to start previews on March 1 as opposed to February 27 due to “technical issues caused by the ambitious staging of the new musical comedy.” Rebecca Quigley, producer for Stage Entertainment, said, “As audiences will soon see, the production is hugely ambitious, and the volume of installation and scale of the set means that technical work has taken slightly longer than could have been anticipated to make the show audience-ready.” Nigel Harman (EastEnders, Downton Abbey) is playing a character based on Cowell in the musical that’s directed by Olivier Award-winner and Tony nominee Sean Foley. Here's a crazy thing we didn't know was happening -- there's a musical opening in London this spring about the U.K. "X Factor."
"I Can't Sing: The X Factor Musical" is billed as "an affectionate poke at the world's most talked about talent show" and it's being produced by Simon Cowell's company, Syco Entertainment.
But what makes it even better is that Cowell is being played on stage by Nigel Harman, most recently seen in the U.S. as a rapist on "Downton Abbey."
We repeat: The "Downton Abbey" rapist is playing Simon Cowell in a musical about "The X Factor."
We can hardly wrap our minds around it. Sure, Harman is known in England for many other things ("EastEnders," "Hotel Babylon"), but in the U.S., he's really only been seen as Mr. Green, the despicable valet to Lord Gillingham on "Downton."
But wait! There's more!

Downton Abbey returned this week with Anna (Joanne Froggatt) still reeling from the sexual assault she faced at the hands of Green (Nigel Harman), Lord Gillingham’s valet. Oblivious to the actions of his employee, Lord Gillingham (Tom Cullen) continues to fall madly in love with the widowed Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery).
Anna Deals With Sexual Assault
Anna struggles with accepting that she bears no responsibility for what Green did to her. As a result, she’s walking around ravaged by guilt and with a sense that she’s brought the dirtiness upon herself. Bates (Brendan Coyle) knows that something is up with his wife, but seems no closer to the truth. The rest of Downton also notices that something is troubling the normally good-humored Anna, although, like Bates, no one knows the truth besides Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan).

In "Part Two" of PBS's Downton Abbey season four broadcast, Anna Bates (Joanne Froggatt) was brutally attacked and raped by Green (Nigel Harman), the visiting valet of Lord Gillingham (Tom Cullen). Downton Abbey commenced last night’s episode with honored guests making their arrival for a party at the British estate. Among the guests is Lord Gillingham (Tom Cullen), who brings along his valet Green (Nigel Harman).
Lord Gillingham & Lady Mary
The affable Lord Gillingham, who’s single – unless you count the woman he’s courting – does his best to win over Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery). If his first attempt is any indication, he’s going to need some help. After telling Mary he has no wife or children, he asks, “What about you?” Remembering her husband Matthew Crawley’s (Dan Stevens) death, he adds, “I just wasn’t thinking. Please forgive.”
Things take a positive turn for Gillingham when only he and Mary end up going horseback riding. Mary opens up in the alone time, telling her childhood friend about the many ways in which her late husband changed her.

"Downton Abbey" took a dark turn for its second episode of Season 4 on PBS. Warning -- don't keep reading if you haven't watched the episode yet.
Downstairs
The Crawleys are hosting a house party featuring a performance by famed opera singer Dame Nellie Melba from Australia (guest star Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, doing her own singing). Lord Gillingham is invited and brings with him his valet, Mr. Green (guest star Nigel Harman), who takes a shine to Anna.
Green seems like a fun man, teaching the servants a wild card game and cracking jokes. But Bates is instantly suspicious of him and his suspicions are proven right when Green follows Anna downstairs during the opera performance and beats and rapes her in the servants' hall.
It's incredibly upsetting, even with most of the attack happening off-screen. Anna's screams echo in the halls in a sharp juxtaposition with the singing upstairs that everyone is busy enjoying,...

Lady Mary's suitors
Pictured above, left, is Tom Cullen as Lord Gillingham (Anthony Foyle) and Julian Ovenden, right, as Charles Blake. With Matthew gone, Mary is of course deeply grieving for her lost love. But that doesn't mean she's destined to be an old maid now. Both of these dashing men will be crossing paths with Mary -- but which path will she be interested in following, if any?
Jack Ross
At left is Gary Carr as Jack Ross, a singer, musician and bandleader for a local jazz ensemble. If you've got eyes, you can see that he's quite the handsome fellow.

The first footage from X Factor musical 'I Can't Sing!' has been revealed exclusively on Digital Spy.
The clip, which features the production's titular song, mocks Spice Girl and former X Factor guest judge Geri Halliwell's vocal prowess.
DS previously hosted exclusive audio of another of the musical's songs, 'Please Simon'.
'I Can't Sing!' is written by Harry Hill and stars Downton Abbey actor Nigel Harman as an alternative version of Simon Cowell.
Cowell previously joked that he told Harman to "be a dick" when portraying him in the musical.
"I try not to be too involved because this is not something I have ever done before," he said.
"I want them to feel they have got free rein to do pretty much what they would like, otherwise it is going to feel a bit too censored."

Well, that was all a bit of a damp squib. The 'Next Time' teaser at the end of last week's Downton suggested that this week's episode was going to be a ripsnorter. A possible death, a last-minute trip to America, the return of the dastardly Green. Everything was finally coming together.
On paper, it sounded exciting. In reality, Downton's fourth series continues to dawdle and meander at the pace of one Lady Mary's dehydrated pigs.
First things first, Dame Maggie Smith isn't going anywhere. The Dowager had a nasty bout of flu, Violet went a bit cuckoo with fever and the hair and make-up team got to have a giggle, dressing her up like Worzel Gummidge on a bad day. But after a few rounds of gin rummy and some mopping of the brow with a damp flannel from Isobel (Penelope Wilton), she's back on her feet again.
Just in case you weren't sure,...

In Season 4 of the popular British drama, Froggatt's character Anna, a house maid at Downton, is attacked and raped by the valet of a visiting lord. The attack, which happens almost entirely off-screen, had British viewers up in arms, with ITV (the U.K. station that broadcasts "Downton") receiving dozens of complaints about the storyline.
But Froggatt says she's proud of what the show has chosen to do with her character this season.
"Obviously, as an actress, I was really pleased and I was really proud of the show for tackling something like this. It was a really brave thing to do," Froggatt tells the BBC in an interview.

We all knew something bad was going to happen in this week's Downton, but it was unlikely any viewer was prepared fully for the dark change in tone at the end of last night's (October 6) episode.
Joanne Froggatt's Anna Bates was beaten and raped by creepy valet Green (Nigel Harman), her screams filling the dark empty corridors of Downton's servants' quarters.
Anna, one of the show's best-loved and strongest female characters, was reduced to a bloody and quivering wreck. Too scared to admit the truth to her husband Bates (Brendan Coyle), the fall-out from these events should dominate the rest of the series. As long as Fellowes doesn't do one of his trademark that's-all-folks storyline wrap-ups. Matthew's sudden war injuries recovery springs to mind.
But some viewers found the darker tone uncomfortable and out of keeping with Downton's usual tone.
Radio Times critic Alison Graham has described the storyline...

A major twist is expected to take place in this weekend's Downton Abbey, following ITV's decision to withhold preview copies of the show's latest episode from the press.
Producers made the same decision not to preview episodes in series three when Lady Sybil was killed off and when Matthew Crawley exited in the Christmas special.
The opening two episodes of series four have featured both upstairs and downstairs at Downton slowly recovering from the loss of Matthew Crawley.
However, speculation is rife online that another major character might have been killed off by Julian Fellowes in a new twist for the hugely popular ITV drama series.
Further speculation about a possible dramatic twist in this week's episode has been sparked by the arrival of Nigel Harman's character Green.
Harman has claimed that his valet character has "no redeeming qualities" and said previously that he will "stir things up" in the period drama.
