The End of the Tour follows the true-to-life story of a Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) as he joins novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel) on his book tour after the incredible success of Infinite Jest in 1996.
Though the interview from the five-day road trip was never published, Lipsky compiled his taped conversations with the novelist in his memoir Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself following Wallace’s 2008 suicide. The film, adapted from the memoir, received high praise from critics this winter at the Sundance film festival.
Directed by James Ponsoldt, The End of the Tour also stars Ron Livingston (Office Space, “Band of Brothers”) and boasts music by the Academy Award-winning composer (and probable best friend to Tim Burton) Danny Elfman. The film will play select Cineplex theatres starting on July 31, 2015.

Writers often worry about the dangers of outside influence, but what about the non-literary inspirations they are far more comfortable admitting to? Andrew O'Hagan talks to six novelists about their passion for a second artform
The divine counsels decided, once upon a time, that influence is bad and that too much agency is the enemy of invention. Harold Bloom can't be blamed for that: he certainly pointed to the danse macabre of influence and anxiety, but to him the association was perfectly creative. Elsewhere, writers have always been blamed for being too much like other writers, or too much like themselves, and even now, in the crisis of late postmodernism, we find it hard to believe that writers might live happily in a state of influence and cross-reference. Yet anybody who knows anything about writers knows that they love their sweet influences.
What I've noticed, though, is that the influences...

It may have been a tribute to Bruce Springsteen but Katy Perry seemed to be the main attraction for some at Friday's MusiCares Person of the Year tribute at the Los Angeles Convention Center before Sunday's Grammy Awards. The singer, who arrived at the charity event which raises money for musicians in need sans beau John Mayer, was interrupted by two young fans who asked to take a picture with her as she was talking to director J.J. Abrams. But that wasn't all: the pop star, who later hung out with Elton John, was approached by even more fans in the lobby at the show.
