Back to the Future (1985)
Positive remarks!
What I especially liked about "Back to the Future," is that the events and time machine itself were original and were not too fiction. I liked the idea that the time machine was made out of a DeLorean and looked homemade, rather than a detailed and "perfect" time machine. The conflict for the plot was creative and the actors were perfect for this film! 10/10!
The Family Man (2000)
Fantastic comedy!
"The Family Man," in my opinion, is a fantastic comedy. I have always thought that it would look quite odd for a person in wall street playing the role of "Daddy." An unnamed individual (as far as I know) shows a one-minded, well classed guy (Jack), what his life would have been if he kept true to his College sweetheart. This movie shows the audience what Jack's big decisions lead to and what he could of had. It's great to see all that Jack is naive about when it comes to children and being a husband. I absolutely recommend this movie!
The Wedding Singer (1998)
One of the best Adam Sandler films!
"The Wedding Singer" is one of the best Adam Sandler films! It is full of
comedy and full of great actors/actresses. Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler
are the best choice for the two main roles in this film. "The Wedding Singer" shows the joys, laughs, and sorrows of getting married. I give this movie a B!
The Ring (2002)
Great plot idea...ordinary thriller
Before I saw this movie, everyone had been making a big deal about how scary
the movie is. I thought, "for once, a movie that will actually scare me!" Well... it did have great unexpecting events and situation that leave you almost off
your seat, but it was just like any other thriller movie. So, my point being, it wasn't that scary people.
The plot idea I thought was great. And I also enjoyed the twist at the end of the movie. The acting and setting were fine. I will probably have this movie a
part of my DVD collection, once it is released. I give this movie B+.
Minority Report (2002)
FANTASTIC!
This movie was fantastic! Great future setting and awesome idea! Although,
the plot is a little hard to follow during the movie, but is then easy to realize at the end. The cast was brilliant and the acting was extraordinary! I grade this movie and give it an A!
La vita è bella (1997)
Extraordinary!
What I especially liked about this movie, was it freed the viewers from the
horrible barbaric reality of world war two and brings the viewers to show how one particular family deals with the torment. It was brilliant how the Father helped his son, cope with the concentration camp torment (although his son
was naïve about everything). I graded this movie and gave it a B+.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Better than the first!
All I have to say is if you liked first one, you will like this one! I think this one was better than the first. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" had mostly all, if not all, the events in the novel shown in the movie. I will have to give "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" 10/10!
Mitt liv som hund (1985)
Another applause for a foreign film!
I am very happy at my luck when watching foreign films. I always seem to be glad that I actually watched them. This film is marvelous!! The type of movie that you would just sit on a comfortable chair, snuggle up with a bowl of popcorn and watch it all night! I highly recommend this Swedish movie for any foreign-movie fans!!
Lola rennt (1998)
Full of action - nonstop!
What I especially liked about "Run Lola Run" is the three different scenarios. Of course, the last scenario is the best, but I do not want to give any spoilers. This movie was constantly full of action, and many surprises along the way. I defiantly request this movie for any late time movie night. 9/10!!
Signs (2002)
not what expected but good
Watching the previews, I figured this would be a movie full of suspense and
frightening moments. Well, only a few of those and sometimes I wondered if
certain scenes are to frighten audiences, but did not. It has a good plot but I feel that there could have been a lot more in "Signs." Frankly, the aliens were not that frightening in my opinion and I am still a little disappointed that I never fully understood what the purpose of the aliens in "Signs" was. I give this movie a 7/10.
I Am Sam (2001)
a favorite movie!!
It would be nice if things worked out as they have in this movie, which is why I liked this movie is because movies are aloud to be unrealistic and it's nice to leave the theater or turn of the DVD off after watching the film and feel good (that is if you're not so critical about movies).
This movie kept me entertained and glued to the plot. I felt the acting was fine and had the best individuals for this film. But, I felt certain parts could have been changed, for example, the ending. I am not sure if the audience is fully aware if Sam got Lucy back or not. All in all, I give this movie a 8/10.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Great but novel is unbeaten
This movie was awesome but was disappointing to see some areas of the novel not in the film. I realize that there are guidelines on how long films can be but I'm sure there were ways to adjust the film and have most of the book's events in the film.
The actors are perfect for the movie and kept me entertained. I still wish the movie was longer, which shows how good the film is! This movie is good to watch anytime and I recommend watching this movie sometime. I gave Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone 8/10.
Bella Martha (2001)
what american movies need!
Admire this movie to its end! This movie did not need sex and profanity to be well- done, which is my personal request for American filmmakers to realize, `you do not need it, you do not need sex and profanity to have a 'film'!' Of course, some would say that the love in this movie is unrealistic... who cares, it is a movie, isn't that what a movie is for - entertainment from a fiction world?
I have been studying the German language and found the beauty in the language through this film. Of course, this movie is subtitled but I do not remember if I even once read the subtitles. This movie I feel is not for a universal audience, I believe it is for young adults and older adults. Maybe for a family. Not necessarily a movie for a teenage audience. Which is ironic because I am seventeen but my preference for literature and film is more mature than what my age specifies.
I am offended by those who criticize movies just because they do not have any realistic conflicts, etc. in it. The audience personally takes what they want out of a movie. For example, from this movie, personally I took the theme, `be optimistic, when things seem to be rough, something is bound to be good sometime.'
If you want a good movie in which you do not have to cringe each time a sexual scene is slapped in the movie or when the profanity is outrageous... I say, this is the one!
