The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Underrated
The Matrix Revolutions
I have only come to the assumption that everybody sees 'The Matrix' expecting to see high-powered action scenes. The first and second movie were full of those, but 'Revolutions' contains more drama and less 'bullet-time'.
I can't believe how many people have said this was a disappointment. Well how else can you end the trilogy? I think this is the best anybody could do, especially the power and emotion in the final scenes.
The beginning gets right to it, unlike 'Reloaded'. The middle contains all action, as the final battle rages on. The climax is by far the best in the trilogy. The fight between Neo and Smith is one of the greatest movie scenes of all time; the ending is decent as well.
BOTTOM-LINE: Better than 'Reloaded', but not quite as good as first. 7/10
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
Third Time's A Charm
Sean Connery's third movie as James Bond is considered by many as the best in the series, "Goldfinger." Roger Moore's third movie, "The Spy Who Loved Me" is on many people's top five list of the series.
Pierce Brosnan is the third person to play James Bond and reach his third movie. 'Third time's the charm' they say, and it's certainly proven in the 19th James Bond movie, "The World is Not Enough".
From the pre-credit sequence with the boat chase down Thames River, you can tell you are in for one heck of a Bond movie. The title song performed by Garbage is one of the best Bond songs you'll hear in a while.
"The World is Not Enough" lives up to the action, but brings much more storyline and twists than you would expect in a Bond movie. This is one of the reasons why it is in my top 5.
Many people are turned off by this movie, and I can't blame them knowing that Denise Richards is the Bond girl. I agree, there are several other women that could have played the nuclear scientist, Christmas Jones.
The villian is quite different than the recent Bond villians. Renard the anarchist has a characteristic that makes him different from other villians altogether: he feels no pain.
"The World is Not Enough" is great to watch, no matter how many times you've seen it. Out of the four Brosnan movies, this is my favorite.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the better Bond films- 8.5/10
Dance Dance Revolution (1998)
The Revolution Begins
Throughout the years, video arcades bring on phenominal games like Mortal Kombat and Time Crisis. Those games come and go, but there's one that is big that it has become a secret cult among the entertainment world.
Dance Dance Revolution is probably the biggest game to hit video arcades since ever. The game involves a person or two dancing to a song by following arrows to step on. It takes months to master, even years, as only an elite group of gamers can conquer all the songs.
As one of those people, I've noticed how so many people will completely stop what they're doing just to watch experts do the hardest songs. The game is that good. Not everyone has enough talent to play Dance Dance Revolution, but they can still have fun just trying.
What it comes down to is how popular this game is and what an impact it has made in the world of arcades and video games. Some people spend their days and nights trying to master what only so few have done. But it's not about how good you are, it's about how much fun you are going to have when you try this game. I strongly recommend that when you see one of these machines, try it out. You never know how good you really are and you'll be strongly surprised at how fun this game is.
BOTTOM LINE: Non-stop entertainment. 9/10
Die Another Day (2002)
A Clip Show, But Don't Get Discouraged
Since Pierce Brosnan has been Bond, each 007 movie has come out every other year. This time it was a three year wait between The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day. It was well worth the wait.
On the 40th anniversary of the James Bond franchise and the 20th film in the series, Die Another Day is more of a celebration of the previous 19 films than anything else. But that shouldn't turn you away from seeing it. The acting and dialogue is great, as well as some excellent special effects and action scenes.
This time around, 007 must stop a North Korean terrorist Zao who has a mysterious connection with diamond cooperation founder Gustav Graves. Starting off in North Korea, Bond goes to Cuba, London, and Iceland. Die Another Day has some twists like the ones you've seen in previous Bond films.
Halle Berry is Jinx, born on Friday the 13th and is an NSA agent. After watching this movie several times, it seems like the role of Jinx was only intended for Berry and Berry alone. You couldn't really put someone else as Jinx.
The 20th James Bond film could arguably be Pierce Brosnan's best as Bond, some consider it his worst. This is one of those movies where you either love it or hate it. There are some bizarre parts in Die Another Day, but overall is great to watch and probably more designated toward the regular Bond fan. Rating: 7/10
Madden NFL 2003 (2002)
One of the best
Madden NFL 2003 is one of the best football sims you'll find around. It improves it's gameplay level where it can top simulations like NFL 2K3 from Sega Sports.
I must say, I am a Sega Sports fan and a big NFL 2K series player. Previous Madden years have brought me to this stage. After hearing great reviews about this year's Madden, I decided to rent it and give it a go on my Playstation 2.
2003 definitely moves toward a different stage from Madden NFL 2002. New features like mini-camp and create-a-playbook add more spice to the game. It allows you to do more after you've conquered the Season and kill your friends butt every time to play it.
BOTTOM LINE: A must see- 9/10
GoldenEye 007 (1997)
How can you not like this game?
When I first bought GoldenEye in 1997, I read the instruction manual front to back before playing it. I thought I was in for a regular shooting game like Time Crisis or House of the Dead... I wasn't.
This game got me hooked after the second level. I could not stop playing it until I got to the very end. There's three different levels of difficulties to master and after that there are still several challenges to overcome. You have to beat certain levels at certain difficulties in certain time to unlock secrets in the game.
GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64 is unbelieveable. The multiplayer is excellent, gameplay extraordinary, and I hope Electronic Arts gets the RIGHT formula from GoldenEye to duplicate their own Bond games in the future.
I'd be lying if I said this game didn't get me started on the Bond movies. I admit, I wasn't really into 007 until I beat this game. That's how good this game is. Trust Bond and non-Bond fans, you will not be disappointed with this game.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Episode II: Answers Several Questions
I recently returned from a 10:00 am showing of "Star Wars- Episode II: Attack of the Clones," and I must say that I am impressed with several things appearing in the movie.
Many questions that were set in the original trilogy have been answered in this episode. Critics say the acting and the dialogue was absolutely horrible, but I can only say was that they were better than Jake Lloyd's role of Anakin Skywalker in "Episode I".
"Attack of the Clones" really lights up on visual effects and action scenes. Many Star Wars fanatics will find a new side of Yoda, and will most likely enjoy it.
If I were to rate "Episode II", I'd give it a 8.
