The Book Thief (2013)
A good movie
The bottom line is that this is a good movie. No matter the gender of movies you prefer and the actors you enjoy watching, you will like this movie. I never liked WW2 movies all that much, so the main thing that attracted me to this movie wasn't the story but the cast. I love watching Geoffrey Rush act and he didn't let me down. The actors did a marvelous job. From the more experienced actors like Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson to the younger ones like Nico Liersch and Sophie Nélisse they where simply amazing. The story it self was good but a bit too sugar coated for me and the CGI was a let down at times, but the actors shined through and helped to sell the story beautifully.
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
What was Tarantino thinking?! :S
I love movies and I love Tarantino's work. I must admit that I find his earlier work much better than his latest films but still I think he is a great filmmaker and I watch every film of his that I can. But Inglourious Basterds just ... well s_u_x. I read a review saying that this is Tarantinos best film but I think it's just the opposite. I don't think it's all bad. I think the actors did a good job at portraying their characters and the film was shot very well. But the story is just not up to the challenge. I never thought I would say this but you really wouldn't miss a thing if you don't see this Tarantino movie. Don't get me wrong. It's not the brutality that bothers me. I just can't get rid of the feeling the story is missing any kind of depth. It's like watching a commercial and you know how boring and idiotic those can get.
I have to say it was a waste of my time watching this and if I could I'd demand my ticket money back. This is not even good enough to download (if some of you are into that) :)
Last Holiday (2006)
Barely watchable
Well I watched this movie because of its solid rating here on IMDb. And I couldn't be more disappointed. Corny and cheesy story, bad script, mediocre acting,... This is one of those no-brainer, chick flicks where you know right at the beginning every single twist and turn of the story. I don't know how they managed to pull a good actor like Gérard Depardieu into this.
Well if you're a lonely housewife desperately looking for a predictable, corny love/comedy movie and you can't tell a good movie apart from a bad one than please, by all means, watch this. To everybody else: don't. It's a waste of time and money.
The Simpsons Movie (2007)
An 87 min long TV-Series
I love to watch the TV-Series so that was the main reason I went to see this movie. Since this movie has spent some time in the making I was expecting it to be something special. A real monument to the episode characters that we came to love over the past decades. I was wrong. The movie is mediocre at best just like the last couple of series seasons. Sure there are some funny bits and pieces in it but way to seldom for it to be a good movie. To me it just looked like the writers made a 22 min episode script and stretched it into a movie.
I love The Simpsons but the movie just didn't live up to my expectations.
