George Carlin: You Are All Diseased (1999)
George nails it!
what can I say this man nails it right on the head, whether it's religion, politics, or whatever else. We need more people in the world like George carlin, not only is George funny as hell, he is also a very intelligent man and I truly admire him, not only can he make you laugh but he also makes you think. The whole show is basically him complaining about things but ya know what he raises a hell of a lot of good points. I would put George right up there with Bill hicks who is also a great comedian/philosopher. If you haven't checked this one out you should right away, check out the video store near you and see if they carry it along with anything else by George Carlin, any chain movie store should carry his stuff.
Apocalypto (2006)
apocolypt no!
this film is garbage, no effort, creativity, or originality went into this film, sorry Mel but you have failed on so many levels. what does this film offer that no other does?... hmmm let's see absolutely nothing and I can't get my head around how this film got 7.9 stars out of ten, but then again I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass. The film has some mildly suspenseful scenes but that's not saying much. It's a formulaic film, all mel does is have the plot and backdrop take place in ancient times with the mayans. I must add that I did not want to watch this film my friend insisted. The main character Almost, is wanted dead by the bad guys(I forget their name) throughout most of the film he is chased by these men, while trying to get to his son and pregnant wife who are stuck in a hole. Overall this film is a waste of time, instead of making a film that makes you think, mel goes for the entertainment value and loses substance by doing so and creates a pretty predictable, bland film. I give 3/3 but that's just me
Sphere (1998)
excellent intriguing film
OK I really can't seem to get around the fact that this film only got 5 1/2 stars from the viewer rating. This film is excellent in every aspect, and if you're going to compare a film to it's book of course it's not going to be same because you're dealing with two different mediums. If one forget's the book and watches the film then you will enjoy this film a lot more. OK the performances are fantastic, the story is amazing, the pace of the film is perfect, the film soundtrack is also excellent and really adds to the depth of the film, the plot is amazing. I pretty much enjoyed every aspect of this film, it kept me thoroughly interested, with not one boring aspect. The great thing about this film is it makes you think, it's one of those films that gets you and and never lets go, the director certainly knows how to tell a story. I also really enjoyed the dialogue between the character's and the fact that as the characters connect the dots the audience is there doing the same. Overall a great film, and if you haven't checked it out yet I suggest you do so, I give it 10/10, because I couldn't find one thing I disliked about this film
Untraceable (2008)
unwatchable
OK first of all I was very disappointed that the killer is revealed not even halfway into the film,I prefer the killer's identity to be kept secret until the climax or the ending. I was deceived by the previews of the film thinking this was a who done it thriller but unfortunately it was not. This film like all others is filled with predictable clichés that we've all seen in thousands of other movies before. A good film or good thriller usually has a unique plot,an original story, good acting, good suspense, and a good film score. I must say diane lane plays her role very well and knows how to get in touch with her character, colin hanks does a decent job in this film as well. The film soundtrack is very well composed and creates a nice suspenseful mood for the film. As for the plot and storyline not very original and not very unique I can tell it didn't take very much effort to make this film, don't get me wrong it's not terrible but it's certainly not good either, you can see things coming a mile way at least I did. overall the film just didn't interest me, the fact that the killer was revealed not even halfway into the movie didn't help either. I'm going to have to give this a 4/10 for it's lack of originality, and lack of suspense(with an exception for the soundtrack)
Maniac (1980)
dull and boring
let me just say if you're a horror fan you can skip this one. I bought it on DVD having never seen it and after seeing it I really wish I hadn't. Joe spinell is a pretty decent actor in this film but the material just stinks. The film follows the life of a schitzophrenic serial killer(Spinell)as he terrorizes the streets of New York city looking for innocent woman to kill. There is really few good things to say about this film if any. The suspense and the tension is lacking, there isn't much of a story or plot. Throughout most of the film we see Spinell talking to his manicans and dressing them up, which involves him putting womans bloody scalps on their heads.Overall the film turned out to be a disappointment. I give it 4/10
Everybody Loves Raymond (1996)
this show sucks
OK let's get this straight , there are far more better sitcoms out there that are way funnier than everybody loves Raymond. This is a crappy show, the jokes aren't funny, the writers for the show are terrible. I advise you don't waste your time watching this dull piece of crap. If you want to watch something that's actually funny try watching married with children or even fresh prince of bel-air, but don't waste your time watching this garbage. I don't know how this piece of crap went all the way up to 9 seasons, they should have cut it off at one season. Like I said if you're looking for something good to watch married with children or family guy, shows that are actually funny and have good writers.
Click (2006)
a good balance between emotion and laughs
this is an excellent film, it's consistent with delivering the jokes and also very touching. It's a good film on a moral level as well, with the idea that family comes first. Adam Sandler does a superb performance and Christopher Walken is also good as Morty. I did find it surprising that the same group of actors that usually play a part sandler's films are not in this one, though I don't know who plays the character of Habiboo, it seemed like he had some prosthetics on his face. It was interesting to see David Hasselhoff playing Michael's (Sandler)boss,he also played the part well. Overall a very fine job from the actors and a very enjoyable film.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
waste of my time
this film is garbage. when I first went into the theatres to see this movie I had never previously saw any previews of it on television and had no idea it was purely an independent film. A friend of mine said that it looked like a scary movie so we went to see it together and I was very disappointed at what I saw. This movie really shouldn't even have been released to theatres nor direct to DVD or video for that matter, I think the proper place for it would have been on the internet because this peace of garbage does and did not deserve the exposure that it got. If I had known that this movie(if you can call it that) was going to be some guy holding a video camera throughout the whole film and showing people running from this lame creature called the blair witch I would have never wasted my money on this peace of crap.
this movie doesn't even deserve 1/10 I'm giving it 0/10
