Danny Trejo has been sober for 55 years, the actor announced in an Instagram post.
“I’m 55 years clean and sober today by the grace of God! I’ve done this one day at a time, and for anyone out there struggling You Can Too!” Trejo stated.
Born to Mexican-American parents in Los Angeles, Trejo had a difficult upbringing, turning to a life of crime at age seven. He spent 11 years in and out of the California prison system, released from custody for the final time in 1969.
Right after he got out of prison, Trejo went on to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in 1969 and became a drug counselor. Fifteen years later, he stopped by the movie set for the film Runaway Train to help a struggling addict.
The director, Andrei Konchalovsky, learned about Trejo’s boxing in prison. He was offered a job as an extra and served as Eric Roberts’ personal trainer and boxer.

California rockers Rival Sons have announced that their second new album of 2023, Lightbringer, will arrive on October 20th. In advance of its release, the band has shared the lead single “Sweet Life.”
The album news comes in the midst of Rival Sons’ current North American tour supporting The Smashing Pumpkins (tickets available here). Lightbringer marks the follow-up and companion album to Rival Sons’ Darkfighter, which arrived on June 2nd of this year.
Regarding Lightbringer, guitarist Scott Holiday said in a press release, “When you do two albums back-to-back like this, there are a lot of things to think about. The first record has to pack enough of a punch and tell enough of a story for the second half to have an even bigger impact. We balanced them out with energy and meaning, but the follow-up always needed to deliver a bigger blow. I think Lightbringer provides this.”

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Sins of the Father," Worf (Michael Dorn) learned that he had a brother named Kurn (Tony Todd) who arrived on the Enterprise to recruit Worf for a special mission. It seems that their deceased father, Mogh, had been posthumously accused of treason by the Klingon High Council. Worf and Kurn needed to go back to the Klingon homeworld to make an appeal and clear their father's name; in Klingon society, the crimes of one generation implicate the next. Worf and Kurn, if they are unsuccessful, will be excommunicated from Klingon society — a grievous shame indeed — and executed in their father's staid.
At the end of the episode, it was revealed that Mogh had been framed ... by the father of Duras (Patrick Massett), a Klingon nobleman and heir to the throne. It seems that everyone knows how dirty Duras was, but to expose...

Now they’re expanding it into a deluxe edition filled with cover versions by the Jonas Brothers, Ryan Tedder, Owl City, and Tyler Joseph from Twenty One Pilots, among others. “To hear our friends and heroes singing these songs of ours — such legendary voices, such amazing talent — it’s truly a wonderful, strange gift,” Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman said in a statement.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers from all of Almost Paradise Season 2.] “Let’s go steal…” Those are three words that every Leverage fan knows well but has never heard come out of Christian Kane‘s mouth — until his other Freevee series, Almost Paradise. In Season 2 (all 10 episodes of which are now available to stream), there are a few things that will be very familiar to Leverage (and Redemption) fans, from flashbacks with the stars in different roles to a casino heist, especially considering the common threads of Kane and executive producer Dean Devlin. “We didn’t really try to remind people of Leverage. We actually stole from Leverage,” Kane told TV Insider with a laugh. “Dean Devlin got his hands on that one, and he said, ‘Nope, this is Leverage, and we’re just going to make it Leverage.‘ And it was so much fun.” The star then went ...

Cobweb begins a week before Halloween when Peter is woken up by the sound of knocking seemingly coming from inside his bedroom wall. You can’t blame him for being creeped out, with its peeling paint and backyard full of rotting pumpkins the house already looks like something out of a horror movie. And then there’s that weird bulging thing the walls in his room do while he’s sleeping.
We also quickly learn that he has no friends and gets bullied at school. His parents Carol and Mark also won’t let him dress up for Halloween, something that may be related to the disappearance of a young girl a few years ago. Unsurprisingly they also don’t believe him about the knocking.

Jay Rock has dropped a fast-paced new single, “Too Fast (Pull Over),” which features Anderson .Paak and Latto. The trio released the Mustard-produced song along with a music video that sees the rappers enjoying a raucous pool party.
On the track, Rock raps, “Send a stepper up the stairway to heaven, I’m a vet/ Put up a pole dancer in a Mercedes.” In the video, he mirrors the lyrics by showing up to the party in a red Mercedes SUV equipped with a stripper pole (and a stripper) on the roof.

After the Leverage: Redemption Season 2 finale, executive producer Dean Devlin told us that Christian Kane would say that his character, hitter Eliot Spencer, could never be redeemed. He was right. While the last episode we saw of the Freevee series (in January) saw grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman) face her past and let go of her guilt, Eliot didn’t think he’d ever get to that point, not with what he’s done. And Kane agrees. When TV Insider spoke with Kane recently, we asked him about that, the future of the show (it has yet to be renewed or canceled), and much more. Is there any word on a Season 3 of Leverage: Redemption? Christian Kane: We have no idea. The writers’ strike has really put us — there’s nothing anybody can do right now, you know what I mean? Everybody’s hands are sort of tied with this thing.

CBS has released 44 seasons of Survivor since 2000, and with that many iterations of the reality competition series, some are bound to be flops. The producers are constantly trying new things, leading to massive success (re: hidden immunity idols), and others have been complete hits and misses (re: Edge of Extinction). But that's not all, because we also take a look at the near future with star-studded environmental drama Extrapolations on Apple, and head over to Dublin for ITV crime drama Redemption. Plus James apologises for Kay's egregious failure to spot the Robert Kirkman/Brian K. Vaughn mix up on last week's show. For shame, Kay.

A television adaptation of James Patterson’s “Alex Cross” series has been ordered at Amazon Prime Video, the streamer announced today.
Titled “Cross,” the series follows Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist reeling from the murder of his wife, as he takes on cases while juggling his relationship with his children. Aldis Hodge will star in the series as Cross, in addition to producing. The news broke on the same day word came out that Showtime canceled his drama series “City on a Hill,” co-starring Kevin Bacon, after three seasons. The “City on a Hill” cancellation actually predated the “Cross” news by a few months, a person with knowledge of the cancellation decision told IndieWire, but Showtime had been able to keep it under wraps until now.

Maureen Duffy‘s 1966 book “The Microcosm” has been adapted as a film featuring two-time Oscar winner Glenda Jackson. In 1966 London, when homosexuality was still criminalized, The Gateways club in Chelsea offered a haven for women to dance, express themselves and love who they want. In the book, based on her own experience, Duffy examined if this gay bar, and those like it, really offered the freedom its patrons crave. In the film, Jackson, along with director Joe Ingham, draw parallels between the past and the present and explore the uncomfortable paradox that exists within queer spaces.
The Cheerio production featuring an original score by Helen Noir and animation by Rebecca L. Weil, opens at museum of British LGBTQ history, Queer Britain, London, on Oct. 12.
Duffy said: “The film is awesome. I am amazed I wrote these words all those years ago. I hope they still have a resonance today.

A bitter court battle is brewing over Timothy Hutton’s dismissal from the reboot for Leverage after he was accused of raping a teenager in 1983.
Responding to a lawsuit filed by the actor claiming his deal was breached, series producer Electric Entertainment alleges Hutton “intentionally withheld and concealed” attempting to pay off the victim in a settlement and kill a story exposing the accusations during contract negotiations despite knowing that “the scandal would have prevented him from being offered the role.”

Hutton, who was dropped from Leverage: Redemption after the claims surfaced, has denied the allegations. He hasn’t been charged with any crime stemming from the incident.

During the 2021-2022 season 94 scripted series earned the ReFrame Stamp for gender-balanced hiring. Among them were “Bridgerton,” “Euphoria,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Yellowjackets” and more. As 200 series were considered, 47 were found to earn the stamp — a 7 decrease since the previous year.
Each “Stamped” series was found to hire women or individuals of other underrepresented gender identities (including those who are non-binary or gender non-conforming) in at least four out of eight key roles including writer, director, producer, lead, co-leads and department heads. Additional points were awarded to productions that hire women of color in key positions, and to those with overall gender parity in their crews.
Stamp designation is determined by ReFrame, an initiative of the Sundance Institute and Women in Film Los Angeles (Wif) in partnership with IMDBPro. ReFrame examined IMDbPro data on the 200 most popular narrative series with a minimum of three episodes released between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022 (the 2021-...

Oscar nominated screen legend James Caan died yesterday evening at the age of 82. The news came via his official twitter account. His uncommonly masculine star persona was often deployed for menace but his charisma read 'leading man' even though that mode happened less often. His career was marked by stratospheric highs, major lows, and some degree of ambivalence; He regularly turned down roles (including several that became iconic for his peers) in both movies and on television. He's best remembered today primarily for two pieces of art, the gangster epic The Godfather (1972) and the fan/artist thriller Misery (1990). They don't paint the whole picture of that expansive career though which began in the early the early Sixties and and will stretch into next year. He completed one picture, set for 2023, a darkly comic crime/action movie starring Pierce Brosnan (with Caan...

Spoiler warning: This article will openly discuss the plot and the ending of "Top Gun: Maverick"
In Joseph Kosinski's "Top Gun: Maverick," Tom Cruise plays Pete Mitchell, a Navy jet pilot who is still doing the same things at age 59 as he was doing at age 24. Namely: He's flying planes very quickly, wearing a very particular leather jacket and aviator shades (fair play for an aviator), and zipping around various military installations on his vintage motorcycle. The motorcycle wasn't vintage when he started riding it. Pete spends most of his days flexing, working on machines, smiling dazzlingly to himself, and living up...
