It’s often said it goes down in the DMs, and Wayne Brady has said it’s “shocking” what sorts of messages he’s received since coming out as pansexual.
Last year, The Let’s Make a Deal host revealed he was pansexual, which means he is attracted to all people regardless of gender or identity.
GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, indicates that the term is one of several that is under a “bi+ umbrella.”
During the interview where he came out as pansexual, Brady clarified that after doing research, he considered himself “bisexual — with an open mind.”
“In doing my research, both with myself and just with the world, I couldn’t say if I was bisexual, because I had to really see what that was, especially because I really have not gotten a chance to act on anything,...

Wayne Brady has spent almost two decades proving his improvisational mettle and vaudevillian flair as a comic on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", the host of "The Wayne Brady Show" (where he picked up two Daytime Emmys), and now as a voice actor on the Disney Channel series "Sofia the First." His family-safe version of comedy made him a fitting emcee for Charmin's "Keep It Clean Comedy Show," where New York high school students performed their cleanest versions of bathroom humor earlier this week. We caught up with Brady to discuss what makes for good clean humor, the worst cliches in comedy, and the challenges of taking over for Billy Porter in Broadway's "Kinky Boots" beginning November 21. You just hosted a Charmin-sponsored event where kids aged 14-18 told their best clean versions of scatological jokes. That seems like a challenge. Were you optimistic about what the contestants could produce? Well,...

Since its debut almost a decade ago, “Dr. Phil” has never won top talker at the Daytime Emmys. The series hosted by Phil McGraw was bested for Best Talk Show from 2003 to 2007 and since 2008 it has lost the new category Best Talk Show (Informative). And McGraw has lost all four of his hosting bids, first to Wayne Brady (2003, 2004) and then to Ellen DeGeneres (2005, 2007). In 2003, “The Wayne Brady Show” and “The View” tied for first place among all talk shows. And from 2004 to 2007, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show" won that race. The serious subject matters tackled by "Dr. Phil" stood in marked contrast to the fun and games of the competition. Recognizing this divide, the Daytime Emmys split the category into two with "Dr. Phil" contending now for the Informative award rather than the Entertainment prize. However, in both 2008 and 2009, the show lost to the lightweight self-titled talker hosted by Tyra Banks.

"The View" is riding high in the ratings as it begins a week of shows from La. Now in its 12th season, this ABC morning gabfest is drawing over 4.2 million viewers a day and scoring well in key demographics. And critics are enjoying the lively discussions that dominate the front half of the hour-long talker. Last week's leaking of the pre-nom lists for daytime dramas puts us in mind of the biggest mystery in daytime -- can the co-hosts of "The View" ever win a daytime Emmy Award?
While the revolving cast has been nominated as outstanding talk show hosts in each of the first 11 seasons, they have never won the award. And the show has only won one of its 11 consecutive daytime Emmy bids, when it tied with "The Wayne Brady Show" in 2003. Although Buena Vista Television renewed syndicated daytime talker The Tony Danza Show for a second season despite lack of tune-in, sidekick Ereka Vetrini and two behind-the-scenes producers have been axed, and singer Gloria Estefan is rumored to be its replacement if ratings don't perk up next season. Vetrini, whose claim to fame was competing on the first edition of NBC's The Apprentice, is certainly no stranger to being publicly axed. On February 26, 2004, she was the eighth person fired by Donald Trump on national television for failing to market a new product properly. Buena Vista, which confirmed the firings but denied Gloria Estefan being groomed to replace Tony Danza, remained similarly mum two years ago when a talker with Danza was rumored as the replacement for the then-struggling The Wayne Brady Show. At the time, Brady was delivering a larger audience than Danza is now. Season to-date, The Tony Danza Show ranks ninth among all syndicated talkers with a 1.3 household rating.
TORONTO -- Canadian broadcaster Craig Media on Thursday in Toronto announced only one new show for its fall schedule, The Tony Danza Show from Buena Vista Prods. Craig made only one deal at the recent Los Angeles Screenings as it gets set to be acquired by rival Chum Ltd. as part of a CAN$265 million ($195 million) takeover deal awaiting regulatory approval. Craig said the Tony Danza talker will air on Toronto One, replacing canceled talker The Wayne Brady Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which has been picked up by Chum. Chum unveiled its fall 2004-05 schedule Wednesday, and private national networks CTV and CanWest Global Communications Corp. will make their own plays to domestic advertisers and media buyers next week.
The Wayne Brady Show will not be renewed for a third season by Buena Vista Television, it was confirmed Thursday. The talk show hosted by comedian Wayne Brady had been ailing in the ratings stakes and there was a major question mark over its future for some months, particularly since BVT committed to a new daytime talk strip hosted by Tony Danza to debut in the fall (HR 11/10). Brady will remain in production through May and will continue to air for the balance of its second season. "We are extremely proud of The Wayne Brady Show, said BVT president Janice Marinelli. "Without question Wayne Brady is one today's most talented entertainers whose talents, combined with a truly outstanding production team, led to the show's remarkable first-season Emmy Award honors."...
TV and Broadway star Tony Danza is set to take on his own talk show under a deal with Buena Vista Television. BVT will begin pitching the show to stations at the end of the November sweep when some syndication time periods are expected to open up. Announcing the project Friday, BVT president Janice Marinelli said she had wanted to take on a talk show with Danza for the past few years but only now is the timing right. "We have been watching the marketplace, and the feeling is that there are a number of shows on the bubble, so we think it is a good year to take another talk show to the market." The new Danza project -- still untitled -- will be pitched for daytime and early-fringe time periods. Industry observers pointed to the fact that one show on the bubble may be BVT's own The Wayne Brady Show, which is averaging a 1.0 rating season to date. Wayne Brady occupies several key daytime slots on ABC owned-and-operated stations in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston and several other important markets. But Marinelli insisted: "We don't have time periods on our own stations -- our stations are pretty well locked in." She said the new Danza talk show will be brought out to stations at month's end.
