Match #1: Braun Strowman def. Jd McDonagh The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In his first match back since his injury, Braun Strowman dismantled Jd McDonagh, chucking him around like a sack of flour. McDonagh tried chopping Strowman, leading to a vicious chop from The Monster of All Monsters. Despite a hobbled knee, Strowman was still able to take out McDonagh with the freight train clothesline. As Strowman was looking to put away McDonagh, Finn Bálor and Carlito tried to take out The Monster of All Monsters. This backfired as Strowman shook them off, hitting a Tilt-a-whirl Powerslam on McDonagh to win the match. After the match, McDonagh tried attacking with a steel chair, an enraged Strowman forced McDonagh, Bálor and Carlito to flee.

As is the case with Roman Reigns in modern WWE, sometimes a champion’s reign lasts way too long. But the opposite can also be true. Somebody could get a big title win and only hold onto the belt for a few weeks, possibly even days, before being forced back to square one. For one reason or another, there are a select group of wrestlers in WWE who dropped the title way earlier than they should have.
On this list of wrestlers who needed more time with their championships, we will not be including those who were forced to vacate due to injury. It seems too easy an answer, so here’s an honorable mention for Finn Balor, Daniel Bryan, Edge, and the rest of the champs who had to vacate the belt for physical reasons.

There have been countless wrestlers who have included spooky, undead, or horror imagery into their personas, but no one has ever done it quite like Windham "Bray Wyatt" Rotunda, who tragically passed away at the age of 36. It's impossible to overstate the brilliance Rotunda brought to the ring as Wyatt, elevating the art of wrestling to that of horror cinema. His character work was unmatched and he took risks that often felt impossible in a company known for its micromanaging and supervillain leadership. He shot for the moon and even if the gimmick didn't land right away, he never gave up on figuring out how to make it work. Few of his peers were that brave, ever. Over the course of his career in WWE, Bray Wyatt truly became the new face of fear, and incorporated horror into the world of wrestling in a way that no one before him ever could.

Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Karrion Kross, Xavier Woods and LA Knight collided in this Fatal 5-Way Match for a chance at Gunther’s Intercontinental Title. The match broke down almost as soon as it began, with all five competitors taking the action to the outside. With five competitors, it was no surprise that alliances were quick to occur with Knight and Kross combining to make a unique combo. Much like Survivor, the alliance was over fairly quickly as Knight struck Kross while his back was turned. Match #1: Imperium def. Braun Strowman, Ricochet and Madcap Moss The following of courtesy of wwe.com:
There was plenty of recent history brought into the ring, as Braun Strowman, Ricochet & Madcap Moss set out for some payback against Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci. After a chaotic back-and-forth, the Intercontinental Champion and The Monster Among Men stood toe-to-toe in the ring trading chops and punches. Gunther closed the door with a vicious Powerbomb to Moss with Drew McIntyre watching at ringside. The Viking Raiders took exception to The Scottish Warrior’s presence and ignited a wild brawl after the match.

Match #1: Men’s Royal Rumble – Winner: Cody Rhodes The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before the match started, the surprises had already begun as Pat McAfee made his return to commentary, delightfully shocking Michael Cole. Fight Night kicked off the Men’s Rumble as Intercontinental Champion Gunther and his fierce rival Sheamus entered at No. 1 and 2, respectively. Not long after Sheamus scored the first elimination by Brogue Kicking The Miz (No. 3) into oblivion, he formed a match-long alliance with his good friend Drew McIntyre after The Scottish Warrior entered at No. 9. Match #1: Rey Mysterio def. Karrion Kross The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Wanting to shut down Rey Mysterio for good, Karrion Kross seeked to eradicate The Master of the 619 from the WWE Universe. Kross used his size advantage from the off-set, trying to wrench Mysterio’s mask from his face. Mysterio would utilize the other side of the size discrepancy, using his quickness to hit a huge splash for a two count. In the end Mysterio’s agility proved key, putting away Kross with a crucifix pin.

Fitting that this title match was occurring in Title Town as the two showed the grit necessary to come out as champion. Wearing special boots designed with the help of the Green Bay Packers, Strowman put said boots to Gunther, using them to derail the Intercontinental Champion and send him over the announce table. If you ask almost anyone in WWE what the company’s most important event of the year is, the answer isn’t necessarily WrestleMania. It’s Tribute to the Troops, a patriotic holiday tradition that sees a special card of matchups, and pays homage to the United States Armed Forces and their families. Braun Strowman is proud to be among the WWE superstars participating during the 20th anniversary along with superstars including Sheamus, Imperium, SmackDown Women’s champ Ronda Rousey, and more. It’s especially meaningful for “The Monster of All Monsters” as the imposing figure returned to WWE a few months ago after his surprising release in June 2021. Since then the big Carolina boy got himself in top shape, ready if or when the call came from his former employer. Ahead of the 2022 Troops, Strowman opens up about his comeback. What have the last few months been like for...

Match #1: Ricochet def. Mustafa Ali The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The first round of the SmackDown World Cup on Fox Tournament continued as two of the biggest high-flyers in Mustafa Ali and Ricochet battled on the ground and in the air. Ali, already nursing injuries stemming from the beatdown he suffered at the hands of Bobby Lashley on Monday Night Raw, clearly was not at 100 percent but still took the fight to Ricochet. Top-rope offense, including a backstabber and a superplex, put Ricochet in complete control, and it continued with a Michinoku driver on the outside of the ring. A valiant Ali nearly caught Ricochet with a 450 splash, but Ricochet rolled out of the way and finished off Ali with a shooting star press.

Match #1: Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – The Usos def. The New Day The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With history on the line, The New Day were hoping to keep hold of their record run as tag team champions, and they brought everything they had to the titleholders. The Usos isolated Kofi Kingston from Xavier Woods, not allowing Kingston to tag him in. When Kingston eventually tagged in Woods, the former King of the Ring was a house on fire, almost capturing the titles after a flurry of offense. A huge top-rope leg drop from Woods nearly sealed the deal, but Jimmy kicked out at 2.9 repeating. The Usos had a heart-pounding moment of their own, as Woods kicked out of a massive Double Uso Splash.

During Finn Bálor’s matchup against Karl Anderson, Dominik Mysterio jumped on the apron to interfere and drew the ire of Aj Styles. This ignited all-out chaos outside the ring between The Judgment Day and The O.C., and Rhea Ripley hurled Luke Gallows into the ring post before delivering an earth-shattering body slam to him onto the ringside floor. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Anderson picked up Bálor to try to put him away. A distraction by Dominik, though, allowed Ripley to deliver the low blow to Anderson that helped Bálor to pick up the three-count.

Jey Uso took umbrage with Xavier Woods’ presence by Superkicking him, allowing Zayn to hit the Blue Thunder Bomb in the fracas for a close two count.
