The Groundlings will host an improv musical fundraising event on Oct. 26, featuring Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig and Will Forte. The event, held at the Performing Arts Center at Vista Del Mar, will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund to support below-the-line workers impacted by the strikes.
“One Night Only,” created and directed by Groundlings Main Company member Andrew Leeds, is a full production of a well-known Broadway musical. The catch? The improvisers are given the script and their roles only 24 hours in advance.
“These strikes have taken a terrible toll on our amazing crews, and it isn’t over yet. Even with the WGA strike ending, most crew members won’t be able to start work again until the SAG-AFTRA deal is ratified,” Leeds said in a statement. “Even then, many will be fighting to survive as they wait for productions to start back up.

The Black List, an annual ranking of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays, has unleashed its 2021 edition — a smattering of delicious pop biopics, true crime and even a psychodrama about Mickey Rourke appearing on “The Masked Singer.”
Founded in 2005 by Franklin Leonard, the list surveys top studio and development executives asking them to share the scripts they adored but haven’t yet greenlit. The rankings are then cross-referenced, and popularity is calculated by the frequency a title appears (the “mentions”).
The top script on this year’s list is “Cauliflower,” an intense drama from writer Daniel Jackson.
“Under the cruel guidance of a mysterious coach, an ambitious high school wrestler struggles to become a state champion while battling a bizarre infection in his ear that both makes him dominant in his sport and threatens his sanity,” the synopsis reads. The script was mentioned 32 times across rankings. Jackson is repped by UTA and Bellevue.

Bailee Madison, most recently seen as the lead in the Netflix musical “A Week Away,” isn’t saving her singing strictly for the odd screen appearance. She’s moving full-on into it off-screen as well, plotting a music career that she’s announcing concurrent with the signing of a management deal with Kevin Jonas Sr.’s Jonas Group Entertainment.
“So much of my life has already been shared with the public, and I’ve always tried to be as honest and true to myself as possible,” says Madison. “I’m finally ready to take this leap. Now sharing this part of myself with the world means so much, and it feels like a chance to give insight on my heart. Everything that I do is a circle of love,...

Wellesley Wild, known for his work as a writer and producer on “Family Guy,” has inked an exclusive, multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Animation.
Under the deal, Wild will develop, write and produced new animated projects for adult, kids and family audiences across all the platforms that Warners’ animation department services. The agreement marks Warner Bros. Animation’s first overall producer deal, and comes less than a month after Wild’s former boss, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, set his own massive overall deal with NBCUniversal.

Exclusive: Geneva Robertson-Dworet is set to adapt Artemis, the novel by The Martian author Andy Weir that Phil Lord & Chris Miller will direct. Simon Kinberg and Aditya Sood are producing for Fox and New Regency.
Crown describes Artemis as an adrenaline-charged crime caper that features smart, detailed world-building based on real science. It centers on Jasmine Bashara, aka Jazz, just another too-smart, directionless twentysomething chafing at the constraints of her small town and dreaming of a better life. Except the small town happens to be named Artemis — and it’s the first and only city on the moon. She’s got debts to pay, her job as a porter barely covers the rent, and her budding career as a smuggler isn’t exactly setting her up as a kingpin, much to her disappointment. So when the chance at a life-changing score drops in her lap, Jazz can’t say no,...
