Exclusive: Former ICM political strategist Brandon Sharp has launched Agenda, a management and production company that will be dedicated to advancing inclusive entertainment and media projects. The company will work with TV and film writers, actors, directors, musicians, authors, artists, public intellectuals, playwrights, and business founders from predominately untapped communities to realize their projects on more equitable grounds.
“Representation for representation’s sake is not enough,” said Sharp. “The strides we’ve made for people of color in front of and behind the camera are significant, but the business side of media and entertainment remains largely unchallenged. The people who stand to profit the most from the boon in ‘diverse’ content are not the originators of that content, and that has to change.”

Josh Gordon and Will Speck’s live-action musical “Lyle Lyle Crocodile” lives up to it name. The story, about a crocodile named Lyle voiced by Shawn Mendes that can dance and sing, features songs penned by the award-winning Justin Paul and Benj Pasek. The dup then brought in a team of songwriters to carve out toe-tapping, infectious earworms.
From the get-go songwriting and composing duo Pasek and Paul knew Lyle would be a singing crocodile which made the project all the more exciting for them. “But when the voice actor became Shawn Mendes, that really informed a lot of the style and what we were going to write for,” explains Pasek.
With Mendes attached, the writers behind “The Greatest Showman” and “Dear Evan Hansen,” could blend musical theater with contemporary pop. “The aim was to create something with his voice,” says Pasek.

The complicated world of Hollywood is always a-changing, but if there's anything in this world that we can count on, it's talking animals befriending lonely children. In the vein of "Clifford The Big Red Dog," "Paddington" and maybe even "Detective Pikachu," comes "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile." Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, the film tells the story of a friendly crocodile who loves baths, singing, and his local community. Oh, and Lyle is voiced by pop-singing sensation Shawn Mendes.
Obviously, you have some questions: will there be an in-universe explanation for why Lyle the crocodile can sing? How many of Shawn Mendes' actual songs will be in the movie? Will it ever get less weird to hear the pop star's voice come out of a CGI crocodile? I can answer absolutely none of these questions but here's what we do know — "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" involves lots of hijinks...

Pallavi Sharda pulled double duty for Netflix's latest rom-com "Wedding Season." In addition to starring in the film alongside "How I Met Your Father"'s Suraj Sharma, the 32-year-old actor and dancer also choreographed an epic Bollywood dance number for the movie's final scene.
The Netflix original centers on faux-couple Asha (Sharda) and Ravi (Sharma) who pretend to date in order to survive a summer of weddings, which they've been forced to attend by their parents. However, Asha and Ravi eventually develop feelings for each other and begin dating for real. As Asha continues to explore her relationship with Ravi, she is also busy helping her sister Priya (Ari Afsar) plan her wedding to her fiancé Nick (Sean Kleier). The film actually ends with Priya and Nick's reception, which includes the dance scene that Sharda choreographed.

When a rom-com clicks, that usually means it’s firing on both cylinders: romance and comedy. The sparks fly, the jokes tickle, the situations swirl. But then there’s the sort of comfort-food rom-com-of-the-week like “Wedding Season.” It features a couple of highly appealing actors, Pallavi Sharda and Suraj Sharma, in the tale of two sexy assimilated Indian Americans from Jersey City who are doing all they can to escape their parents’ legacy of arranged-marriage traditionalism.
The movie has jokes, like the barbed insults the two exchange when they meet at a diner for cheeseburgers and sloppy fries after learning that their folks signed them up on the same dating app. It has twists, like when they figure out that they don’t like each other but agree to enter into a fake relationship, all so that the local yentas will stop pestering them. It has turns, like when they...

Hosted at the Manhattan School of Music, the one-day event will serve as a collaborative space for organizations, individuals and leaders working at the intersections of the arts, theater, policy and advocacy. An opportunity to demonstrate the impact of inequitable social policies on marginalized communities, the festival from the Tony-winning nonprofit will also highlight the possibilities of abolition and a society that doesn’t rely on incarceration to address social issues.
Originally conceived by Bac board member Alejo Rodriguez, the festival’s first year is themed around “Reimagining Justice” and will feature workshops, performances, panels, discussion groups, galleries and video exhibits that offer a chance for participants to focus on and address the city’s “justice” system. What exactly is “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile?” It’s a kids musical about a crocodile! He wears a scarf, and he can sing! And he’s voiced by pop artist Shawn Mendes.
On Wednesday, Sony Pictures released the first trailer for “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” which is a live-action movie featuring Mendes as the singing, dancing, CGI reptile based on the children’s book series by Bernard Waber.
The film follows the Primm family, played by Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy and Winslow Fegley, as they move to New York City and find waiting for them in their bathroom tub Lyle… who we’ll remind you is a CGI singing crocodile. He also loves caviar. And the trailer shows the Primm family at one point making a painting of Lyle, as well as him sticking his head out a NYC cab like a puppy while wearing a Florida Gators jersey, causing countless unseen car wrecks.

The Miss America Pageant 2011 took place tonight and boy, were there some funny antics to help the beauty contest scholarship program celebrate its 90th anniversary. Follow along here for all the highlights.
First off, we appreciate that hosts Chris Harrison and Brooke Burke did their very best to pretend like they care. Their work on "The Bachelor" and "Dancing With the Stars" was probably good practice.
The opening number/introductions was freaking priceless. The girls each said one "pithy" sentence about their state. Highlights included:
Miss Florida: "The only oil you'll find on our beaches is on the hot bodes of our sunbathers." Is that a shot at Miss Louisiana?
Miss Iowa: "Leading the state in ethanol production, my state gives you gas." I'm so proud to be an Iowan tonight.
Miss Mississippi: Bragged about having winners of "America's Got Talent," "The Biggest Loser" and "MasterChef." ... is that all you got?...

The next set of singers admitted to the Top 12 rounds of "American Idol" is read live on Wednesday, March 4.
