No one loves a great scene more than the person who first dreamed it up -- the writer. We're asking iconic shows' creators and writers to tell Et all about getting to see their most cherished moment on their series make it from script to screen.
For Inside Amy Schumer co-creator and executive producer Dan Powell, it’s an Emmy-winning sketch, “Girl, You Don’t Need Makeup,” from season three. Dubbed by many as the “One Direction parody” -- for its similarities to the band’s hit song “What Makes You Beautiful” -- the sketch skewered the hypocrisy surrounding the "no makeup" movement. And what may have started as a “joke within a joke” for producer Jim Roach and the writers soon became the feminist satire of the year.
The sketch also came early in season three, which included celebrated episodes such as “Last F**kable Day” and “12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer.” The show itself...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Which low-rated show do you think deserves a boost of 10 million viewers?

This is tricky, because we’re in a place where my favorite shows now last three or four seasons, then end. Would I have taken another few seasons of “Halt and Catch Fire”? To be sure. But I also don’t feel like it won’t get a chance to play out its story over four seasons and 40 episodes. That’s a good run! Similarly, “Rectify” feels...

Amy Schumer's career has been the very definition of a rollercoaster ride these last few years. The comedian made a big splash a couple of years ago thanks to her raucous, raunchy stand-up comedy, which helped her land her very own series on Comedy Central. Inside Amy Schumer became a big hit for the network, and soon Schumer was everywhere. From starring in her own hit film, Trainwreck- which earned stellar reviews and made a killing at the box office- to starring in a Super Bowl commercial alongside Seth Rogen, she quickly became a star to look out for.
But, amidst it all, there's also been some serious low points. For starters, she was rocked by accusations of joke-stealing from fellow comedians- which, in that world, is a big no-no. A viral campaign was launched, depicting how she was allegedly ripping off other people's jokes, and even recycling...

2016-08-18T06:26:44-07:00Is Her Show Over? Amy Schumer Starts Rumors Amid Controversy
Comedian Amy Schumer has been drawn into a social media uproar over a former employee's controversial tweets, and in response, Schumer dropped a cryptic tweet that has some speculating that Inside Amy Schumer might not be coming back to Comedy Central.
The controversy began when comedian Aaron Glaser was banned from the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe following accusations that he had raped several women associated with the group. In response to that event, comedian Kurt Metzger, who had written for Inside Amy Schumer, came to Glaser's defense, suggesting that his accusers might be lying. That led to a social-media outcry for Schumer to fire Metzger from her show.
Schumer's response, still on social media, was to tell people to leave her alone because Metzger doesn't work for her.

How the hell did this entertainment gaper’s block happen? It’s not as if I prioritize work, family and meals over passive goofing-off. I am and always have been committed to the latter, and I’ve got my priorities straight.
Amusingly, that media pile-up just might have gotten worse.
It turns out that one of my favorite new shows of the past year, Louis C.K.’s dramatic series Horace and Pete, has not been cancelled after all. Time Inc. said it was and everyone believed them, particularly after Louis told Howard Stern he was losing money on the series that he produces,...

Louis C.K. surprised fans last weekend when he sent an email out to announce his new series, Horace and Pete, which stars C.K. and Steve Buscemi, and offered its first episode for $5 via his official site. On Thursday, the comedian sent another email to provide more details about the series, which included news that the second episode will be available on Saturday.

In an email sent to subscribers of his website, comedian Louis Ck has offered an explanation to fans who purchased the first episode of his new series “Horace and Pete.” Unlike the comic’s FX series “Louie,” a dark comedy, “Horace and Pete” is more of a straight drama. The first episodes runs 67 minutes and was directed by C.K. In the show, he and Steve Buscemi play the owners of a 100-year-old Brooklyn dive bar. Among the co-stars that appear in the first episode are Alan Alda, Jessica Lange, Rebecca Hall, Nick Dipaolo, Kurt Metzger, Steven Wright, Edie Falco and Aidy.

FX president John Landgraf may have placed Louie on an unofficial hiatus last month, effectively pumping the breaks on Louis C.K.’s beloved series, but the actor-cum-comedian has now turned his attention to an all-new show called Horace and Pete.
Quietly launching via his official page, Louis C.K.’s black comedy centers around the titular Irish pub, where his character of Horace interacts with a variety of passers-by as they come and go. It’s a set-up that bears semblance to popular sitcom Cheers, allowing for a whole host of famous faces to pop in for a pint and a yarn. Of those who frequent the bar, C.K.’s Horace is joined by Steve Buscemi, Edie Falco, Rebecca Hall, Jessica Lange, Kurt Metzger and Steven Wright.
Weighing in at 67-minutes in length, to say that Horace and Pete launched to little fanfare would be the understatement of the year.

Louis C.K. announced in August that he was taking an "extended hiatus" from his acclaimed FX series Louie in order to work on other projects. Saturday brought the surprise-release of one of those extracurricular activities as the comedian sent out a simple email to fans announcing the arrival of his dramatic, darkly humorous new series Horace and Pete, starring C.K. and Steve Buscemi in the title roles. The show's first episode is available to purchase now for $5 at C.K.'s official site.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

The Writers Guild of America announced the TV nominees for the 2015 WGA Awards on Thursday (December 4) morning and several new shows broke into the fields in a big way. And, of course, there were a number of big WGA Award nomination head-scratchers. Specifically, where the heck was FX's "Fargo"? The answer is below. Making perhaps the biggest splash was "Transparent," which earned three nominations and, since "Orange Is The New Black" earned two nods and "House of Cards" pick up one, that meant that Amazon Prime and Netflix are, at least for one award-giving organization, on equal footing as creators of original programming. The Jill Soloway-created "Transparent" is nominated for New Series, where it will go against "The Affair," "The Knick," "Silicon Valley" and "True Detective." "Transparent" and "Silicon Valley" are also up for Comedy Series, going against "Louie," "Veep" and "Orange Is The New Black." Lest you panic...

Road Work boasts a lo-fi, guerrilla vibe and even features some camerawork by audience members. “This is the new normal. I’m broke,” Attell quips to EW, adding: “I’m a club comic and I just didn’t want to do a special that’s in a big theater.

As my Televerse cohost Simon Howell and I discussed in our Top 10 TV Series of 2013 (So Far), this has been a spectacular year for television, with many shows delivering remarkably consistent seasons (or half-seasons) of memorable, moving television. A number of series were in contention for our Top 10 but didn’t quite make the cut, often because they lacked the week-in, week-out consistency of our final picks. Here is our list of the Best of the Rest, the standout episodes of 2013 from shows that didn’t make our Top 10. With so many choices, and because we’ve seen and are drawing from different series, Simon and I are offering more personalized picks here. As with our Top 10, the list is alphabetical. –Kate Kulzick

The show follows Mark Lilly, a social worker of sorts, who helps integrate residents into life in New York City. These include humans and all manner of "horrifying beast, science-fiction freak, and fantasy faerie." Actor and comedian Kurt Metzger plays Mark's roommate, Randall - oh, and Randall happens to be a zombie. We chatted about the upcoming season, religion, censorship, and Liam Neeson's terrible American accent. Tell us about Randall. Well, he's a zombie. He's a little bit of a slob. He is the opposite of Mark, his roommate. They're like Felix and Oscar [The Odd...
