Tristan Risk, who wowed audiences in the role of Beatress in American Mary last year, will be bringing her fabulous talents to the set of director Ryan M. Andrews' newest project, Save Yourself, which begins filming soon.
Little Miss Risk can also be seen in the new short film Call Girl, the upcoming Fetish Factory and Fembot, as well as many other entertainingly twisted underground projects, leading to what is sure to be a huge and exciting year for her. Currently, she joins Jessica Cameron amongst a fully Canadian cast in Andrews' Save Yourself.

We just got word of a new horror anthology coming to you courtesy of Blood in the Snow Festival Director (and Planet Fury writer) Kelly Michael Stewart. It's called Tales From Hell and it sounds pretty cool in a retro sorta way.
Tales From Hell is told in the tradition of those awesome anthology flicks produced by Britain's Amicus Productions back in the '70s, a style that's been revived in more recent horror anthologies like V/H/S and The Theatre Bizarre.
Through his new Silver Shadows Production company, Stewart and his team have assembled four original horror tales into a feature film hosted by and starring Robert Nolan (Sick, Familiar) as a different character in all four segments.
Each story is directed by an up-and-coming Canadian horror filmmaker: Ryan M. Andrews (Sick), Navin Ramaswaran (Nara), Gabriel Carrer (In the House of Flies) and Chad Archibald (Neverlost). Also, Michael Jari Davidson...

"After 45 years of existence, my life is about to begin."
Such are the internal thoughts of a very bitter John Dodd. John is a tired man. He's been married for many years, and has helped to raise a daughter well enough that the girl is about to move out on her own. Unbeknownst to his wife or his daughter, John is exceptionally unhappy, and is looking at this milestone as a moment when his social obligations are complete enough that he can flee for the hills and live out the rest of his life on his own.
Much of this is expressed through internal ramblings through John's mind. In an I Stand Alone style stream of consciousness, we hear just how awful the man's...

The 49er. I'm not talking about the San Fran type that was just a couple of bobbled balls away from the Super Bowl this year... I’m talking about the real thing. The water panning, gold tooth wearing, scraggly haired, crazy eyed character from early American history. That's what we're looking at in the upcoming short The Prospector's Curse.
Yukon Cornelius be damned. You know these early prospectors had to be a little unbalanced. You can't just sit with a pan in the water all day hoping gold will wash up into it without being a little touched. It's this fun thought that drives The Prospector's Curse, which incidentally carries the tagline "There's blood in them there hills!". It's early in 2012, but that is officially one of our favorite tags so far this year.
The film is currently in post-production in Toronto, Canada. For more info visit The Prospector's Curse Facebook page.

Familiar (2011) is the newest short film from Fatal Pictures, produced by Zach Green, written and directed by Richard Powell, and starring Robert Nolan as John Dodd. This trio of morbidly creative filmmakers are churning out some very intriguing work on what I will simply call a truly indie budget, with a truly indie mindset and determination.
John is an average, uncharismatic husband and father in Familiar, a man who is far from enthusiastic about his relationship with his wife Charlotte, played by Astrida Auza. Charlotte is anything but on the same wavelength as John, who considers her a prison sentence, one from which he secretly wishes an escape by whatever means necessary. There.s an underlying source of John.s disdain for Charlotte, but to give that away would in some part ruin the story.
Familiar is an unconventional narrative, as nearly the entire film is told through voice over,...

Ryan M. Andrews is preparing to dive into the post-apocalyptic world for his upcoming film Sick. Featuring a diverse cast of newcomers and veterans (including scream queen and Doctor Gash's #1 crush Debbie Rochon), Sick begins spreading the disease as cameras start rolling this week in Toronto.
In a storyline that seems like a combination of Stephen King's epic tale The Stand and I Am Legend, Sick drops us into a world where billions have died from a plague and three survivors find themselves struggling against incredible odds as things go from bad to oh shit.

Fatal Pictures, the company behind the festival touring short Worm, are bringing you a new body horror short titled Familiar. I don’t know much beyond the images and poster, but what I can tell from this makes me want to see it. That poster alone is one of the better I’ve seen for any horror release this year. Check that, as well as a press release, below:

The much-praised, indie horror Familiar from director Richard Powell and Cinematography and Co-Producer: Michael Jari Davidson has a new one-sheet, as producer Zach Green has kindly sent it over to us.
Produced by Fatal Pictures, the flick concerns: Through a series of tragic events a middle aged man grows to suspect the negative impulses plaguing his mind may not be his own.
Check out the new one-sheet. Here’s hoping we receive more news on this seemingly brutal bad boy.

Familiar is the newest horror short film from writer/director Richard Powell and producer Zach Green. Michael Jari Davidson serves as cinematographer and co-producer. Presented by Fatal Pictures, Familiar stars Robert Nolan, Astrida Auza and Cathryn Hostick as the seemingly idyllic yet ultimately doomed Dodd Family. Familiar is currently in post-production and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished film, from the same team that brought us Worm. It’s difficult to predict what we’ll get from Fatal Pictures, but one thing’s for sure… it’s bound to be dark, disturbing and enjoyable.
Plot Synopsis: Through a series of tragic events a middle aged man grows to suspect the negative impulses plaguing his mind may not be his own.
