Broadway veteran Brian Gallagher recently released the concept album for his new musical Brownstone. The thrilling record is mostly sung by Gallagher himself, but it also features the vocals of Broadway star Megan Hilty. Utilizing his well-honed ability to write jazzy, ambient rock with a 70s garage band vibe, Gallagher has skillfully created, for Brownstone, a moody and haunting piece of musical theatre that excites as easily as it sends shivers down the spine.

Many horror fans met Felissa Rose for the first time one sinister summer at Camp Arawak back in the early 1980s. Though perhaps best known for playing Angela Baker in Robert Hiltzik’s 1983 cult classic, Sleepaway Camp, Rose has portrayed a wide variety of memorable characters in the horror genre since the turn of the century. Her latest role, a deeply religious survivor in the rural town of Elwood in the age of a zombie apocalypse, is certainly no exception.
With Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard now available on Blu-ray and DVD from Anchor Bay, we caught up with Rose to discuss her intense character, working with Billy Zane and Dee Wallace, Scream Factory’s Sleepaway Camp Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, and much more.
You worked with writer/director Harrison Smith in last year’s Camp Dread. What was your experience working with him again on Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard?...

A group of misguided young adults – amongst them killers, blackmailers, sex offenders – have been sent to the camp as part of a new reality show. This is their last chance to avoid prison or rehab and if they avoid elimination they could win $1 million along the way. Manipulating the contestants is down-at-heel horror director Julian Barrett (Roberts), using the same set as his old horror franchise Summer Camp. And as the competition progresses, it becomes more than just a battle to win. It’s a desperate, gut-wrenching fight for survival…

At a time when a remake of a classic horror film has recently come out on Blu-ray, seemingly looking to humanise an iconic monster of the screen, yet leaving many a horror fan feeling empty; horror fans understand that we don’t need to understand a killer to know why he does what he does, just give him a simple motivation and let him raise hell. This is why I was quite happy to find myself reviewing Nobody Gets Out Alive which ended up being an independent horror based on good old fashioned homage to slasher conventions deeply rooted in the seventies and eighties.

“I just want to clarify that I don’t have Down’s Syndrome.”
Oh the horror. Low budget movies. This one is titled Nobody Gets Out Alive (2013) written and directed by Jason Christopher. Will anyone get out alive? Yes. So much for titles. Jenn (Jen Dance) is just out of the hospital after having a nervous breakdown or something and her friend Michele (Chelsey Garner) organizes a trip out to the woods. Michele hopes to be proposed to by Mike (Shaun Paul Costello). They’re joined by a poor man’s Jay Mohr named Deron (David J. Bonner), a Zack Galifinakas impersonator Jared (Chris Ready), a Tara Reid hopeful called Angie (Nikki Bell), and a pointlessly aggressive jerk called Danny (Matthew Nadu). For some reason, the murderer, Mr. Isth (Brian Gallagher)—worst evil name ever—kills the people who run a convenience store. Anyway, the gang go out to the...

Nobody Gets Out Alive is writer/director Jason Christopher’s love letter to slasher films of the 70′s and 80′s, and the movie was released this week to DVD by Image Entertainment. I recently had the chance to catch up with Jason, and we talked about putting together his first feature, his love of directing over writing, and what’s next:
Why did you decide on Nobody Gets Out Alive as your first feature film and what movies inspired the story?
Jason Christopher: 90′s horror movies just didn’t do it for me because there was a completely different vibe from the 70′s and 80′s horror movies. Then Scream came out and horror movies started to pick up again. I think the last best slasher of the 80′s was Intruder in 1989.
I always wanted to write a script that was my thanks to the 70′s and 80′s slasher genre.

Nobody Gets Out Alive – spoiler alert? Nah, I’ll throw all of you off Jason Christopher’s scent and suggest there’s much more going on, but the question is do you believe me? I don’t know, or do I? Am I totally in your head right now, mindf#cking you P. Diddy style from Get Him To The Greek? What movie am I even reviewing right now? Am I just wasting word count to wrap this thing up quicker?
No, because there’s something to be said about young Jason Christopher’s big-screen directorial/screenwriting debut, but unfortunately it’s nothing all too profound. Christopher undoubtedly displays his love for horror, a fantastic respect for the slasher films of old we yearn for, a love of practical effects, and en eye for entertainment – but his writing is still years away from maturation. Nobody Gets Out Alive is independent to the (broken) bone,...

Director Joe Raffa, who burst on the scene with the buzz behind his upcoming film 6 Degrees of Hell starring Corey Feldman, now has another film grabbing distribution. Raffa's first picture, You'll Know My Name, was picked up for domestic and foreign distribution by Breaking Glass Entertainment of Philadelphia. That's two features for Raffa by age 21. Not bad.
You'll Know My Name is a tale of violence and aggression set in New Jersey ... and thankfully it doesn't contain any footage of Snooki getting popped in the mouth. Brought to us by Brothers in Arms Productions, the film stars Raffa with Mianna Saxton, Alexander Mandell, Brian Gallagher, David J. Bonner, Chuck Connors, Tommy J. Stzubinski, Davy Raphaely and Nicole Cinaglia
Raffa's second feature, the Corey Feldman horror flick 6 Degrees of Hell, was shot in August of last year and is finishing post-production with a planned 2012 release.

Kyle Brennan, Ashley Sumner, Alexander Mandell, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson, Joe Raffa, Nicole Cinaglia, David J. Bonner, Tereza Hakobyan, Faust Checho, Susan Moses, Gene Connelly and Brian Gallagher are all along for the terrifying journey. Check out potential new artwork for the DVD release below....

People really love slasher flicks. They never seem to go out of style and probably never will. The reason for this is simple: Slasher movies are stripped-down formula filmmaking, and when they're done right, they're extremely effective. But when they're not done right, well, you know.
Down the Road, writer/director Jason Christopher's recent entry in the slasher subgenre, is just such an exercise in stripped-down formula filmmaking. And though Christopher's film gets a lot right, it never quite overcomes what it gets wrong.
Christopher puts all the pieces in place and begins solidly by developing a believable new mythology, something not enough of these movies bother to do. Years ago, a young girl was killed by a drunk driver.

Bonner, Tereza Hakobyan, Faust Checho, Susan Moses, Gene Connelly and Brian Gallagher all co-star in the haunted house flick from writer/director Joe Raffa which was partially shot in the actual haunted attraction 'Hotel of Horror' in Pennsylvania.

Title: Close-Up Writer-director: Jose Cruz, Jr. Starring: Shaun Paul Costello, Valentina Mohle, Brian Gallagher, Jacqueline Schneider, Brian Anthony Wilson, with Alan Ruck and Ryan Dunn One of the common pitfalls of independent film comes by way of the navel-gazing that, perhaps somewhat understandably, a hard-grinding life of either on-the-fringe or upwardly mobile artistic endeavor engenders and encourages. Movies about would-be filmmakers or struggling actors and other artists are of course neither automatically good nor bad, but do often lose themselves in a thicket of puffed-up self-importance, mistaking their impediments and human efforts as somehow automatically more interesting than that of the so-called common man, and thus requiring of less dramatic lift....

Producer Deven Lobascio passed along word about his feature endeavor Down the Road , written and directed by Jason Christopher. Jen Dance, David Bonner, Shaun Paul Costello, Nikki Bell and Brian Gallagher star; look for character actor Clint Howard to rear his head as well. Lobascio tells us Victor ( Friday the 13th ) Miller "mentored" the script. Below you'll find a synopsis and poster. Look for more on this title when it gains distribution A father, Hunter Isth, is rocked by a tragic accident in his life. He fleets town and is no longer seen. Partying teenagers fall victim to a town lunatic. Through out the years the stories become urban legends and more than likely, myths. In present day we meet Jenn, a tough and beautiful girl, who has just been released...

Here we have what claims to be another indie throwback slasher called Down The Road. So why am I bringing it to your attention? Three reasons actually. 1) I'm a sucker for slasher flicks. 2) Down The Road was shot in Philadelphia, Pa (my hometown) and 3) The film features Clint Howard and I absolutely love Clint Howard, especially when he does genre work. Check out a teaser trailer and Clint Howard interview clip below.
