In the third quarter of 2009, several new bands were formed and fall tour dates were announced. Also, some artists decided to leave their record labels and sign a new deal with other companies. One of the artists who called off his professional engagement with his label was young rapper Bow Wow. He jumped from Columbia Records to cash Money.

Before the Ball dropped in Times Square to ring in 2009, the Great Gay Debate was underway in America. Prop. 8 was the catalyst, and in its wake everyone had an opinion on Glbt civil rights. We listened. We blogged. But someone else was watching too. Someone who sees you when you're sleeping, who knows when you're awake. Someone who knows when you've been bad or good — and keeps a list to prove it.
Yep, Santa Claus is coming to town in just a few days, and we've managed to get our hands on his 2009 Naughty and Nice list. What?! It’s not enough that we spent the whole year providing you with insightful news and analysis on gay and bisexual entertainment – now we have to pick which 2009 projects we think best represented gay and bisexual men?!
Sorry, we’re getting a little Grinch-y around here come year-end.
But the fact is, gay and bisexual entertainment-related news is inexorably linked with the issue of visibility. If you know anything at all about the history of such entertainment, you know that it’s almost always been “controversial.” As passionate as the creators of these projects have always been, there’s been a similarly strong counter-pressure to keep these themes hidden or under wraps.
As a result, for a website like ours, covering the “news” of these projects inevitably becomes a question of championing the ones of quality (and giving the hook to those who don’t measure up, or that...

This is a weird metaphor to make, but the last two legs of The Amazing Race can be connected to that Katy Perry song. Now, forgive me for this metaphor, kids, but hear me out: hot deserts, cold ski resorts, hot hookahs, cold shark-infested-ish waters... you get the idea. But we're done with Dubai, and we're on to Europe, and with the admittedly immature Mika and Canaan out, well, we'll see what happens next.
But first, to 60 Minutes, and a pretty sensible bit from Andy Rooney... airlines. Musings on airline security and airline pilots. Very fitting. I'm taking a plane this week! And so are these guys!

Nashville songwriter Canaan Smith, 26, and his aspiring country singer sweetheart Mika Combs, 22, had no problem taking a figurative leap of faith by joining The Amazing Race only a few months into their relationship. Yet it was the literal plunge at Dubai’s Atlantis Resort that ended their reality-show run—but not their romance. —Carrie Bell Considering your combined lack of travel experience, Mika’s laundry list of fears and the fact that you’ve been a couple for less than a year, you guys lasted longer than anyone expected. Canaan: Even though [Sunday] night made it look like it, we are not quitters. We’re both dreamers. We pursue everything that we dream and we believe in it before it happens. We were the underdogs but we never gave up. Everybody loves an underdog. Was it naïve to think you could handle whatever producers cooked up despite the aforementioned obstacles?...

The Amazing Race. Its name alone incites images of a grandiose adventure. It’s not just An Amazing Race, it’s The Amazing Race. A name that drives home the necessity of commitment and tenacity like a big-league slugger pumped full of steroids. The Race isn’t easy, and it is not for everyone. If you have difficulty running for long periods of time, the race is not for you. If you cannot handle yourself under pressure, the race is not for you. If you have an irrational phobia of an everyday circumstance, such as water or heights, the race is not for you. You either bring your A-game, or you stay home like the rest of us and yell at the TV.
Tonight’s episode began in Dubai, UAE. A city so massive, metropolitan and modern, if you listen closely, you can actually hear The Lorax weeping in the distance.

For a moment now, let's forget what Mika did. Let's forget that she virtually shut down after facing her "worst nightmare," that she threw a tantrum and had to be pushed (although it was useless too), and that for ten minutes watching The Amazing Race was like watching a home video of you as a kid taken by a mischievous uncle that you hoped didn't exist in the first place. We have to forget that because we all saw it coming--young kids bickering more than we hoped, seemingly incompatible and immature--not to mention constantly late, too.
Let's talk about something that I didn't see coming: Maria and Tiffany finishing the leg in second place. And no, it's not exactly because we saw them in swimsuits today--although it's a welcome distraction. I always thought they'd be in last place forever, until they're at the bottom of the ladder. Until they're conveniently kicked out.

Another couple was heading home after a few weeks of "The Amazing Race". Mika and Canaan, the newly dating couple who had been finishing seventh place in the last three weeks, finally met the dead line because they were unable to catch up with the rest especially after Mika freaked out in one of the challenges.
The race was kicked off in Dubai with Meghan and Cheyne who were the first to arrive last week embarking for Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Teams were given a locked briefcase which combination key can be retrieved in a watch. One member of the teams must row a raft to a yacht. Cheyne got so far ahead that he completed the task before everyone else started.
From there teams get to choose between Gold and Glass. In the former, they have to weigh a certain amount of gold quickly because the price...

Adam Lambert (Sort Of) Kissed A Girl ... And No One Could Stop Talking About It
The big gay news of the week is that one big gay icon did something not so gay and set the gay blogosphere abuzz. That's right, Adam Lambert posed for some racy pictures with a nekkid girl and the reaction of our readers was all over the place as demonstrated by the nearly 70 comments folks posted. Our follow-up poll the next day registered nearly 2,000 votes and generated another 50+ comments.
As for the poll results — it was a dead heat with 41% of folks loving the pics and 41% saying "Ew" and believing that someone was trying to give Adam a "hetero" make-over. I'll say one thing; you folks had a ton of passionate, mostly articulate things to say about the topic.
Personally, I see the whole issue as being a nice little zeitgeist-y moment in how we...

The remaining eight teams on The Amazing Race bid farewell to Asia but not to the heat, duking it out this week in the Dubai desert and establishing five more rules for the road. --Carrie Bell 1. Brush up on geography. The clue vaguely instructed teams to fly to the Persian Gulf and find the world's tallest building (the still under-constriction Burj Dubai). Miss America was the only one who knew where to go off the top of her head. Lucky for the gay brothers, who were confused by the broad location details and asked the ticket booker for a flight to the Gulf, Mr. America was kind enough to share that information. Others headed to Internet cafes where they figured out the destination but wasted time unable to secure tickets online. 2. Be prepared for extremes. It was so sticky in the Middle East that the lens fogged up and it...

First of all, there's nothing wrong with doing good deeds to other teams in the middle of The Amazing Race. It's happened time and time again. There are the alliances (of sorts, since I don't think that exists in the show) and there are the people you do good to because you just plain like them. Crushes, yup.
And then there was last night's episode, where I saw an unusually high number of good deeds being done. I did list it down, right? Tiffany helped with a ladle during the Roadblock. The Globetrotters warned of a really cold ski resort (although admittedly, Mika and Canaan should know that). Sam and Dan staying behind when the poker players' car started leaking. And then there's Brian, who helped from the airport to the desert to the ski resort, all in a belief that karma will pay them back with good tidings--which happened,...

The only engaged couple on "The Amazing Race" this season has been kicked out of the competition after arriving last in the fifth leg. On Sunday, October 18 night episode, viewers witnessed Lance and Keri getting lost in Dubai although all teams started at the same point at the same time.
All the eight remaining teams embarked on the same plane from Cambodia to United Arab Emirates. They were quickly directed to an under-construction hotel which is expected to be the world's tallest building. Teams were to grab the clue from a balcony and head back downstairs. While others drove to Desert Reserve to perform their first challenge of the day, Meghan and Cheyne chose to do the season's first Fast Forward.
One member of the team who chose Fast Forward must complete a race track at Dubai Autodrome in 45 seconds or less. Cheyne completed the race with no difficulty and...

One more team was eliminated last night on "The Amazing Race", all due to one crucial mistake, losing the passport. Friends Zev and Justin got the irony when they were leading the race at number one and went straight to the last place after Zev lost his passport along the way. The document is one important factor to commence with the race and without it, the team has to be disqualified.
The nine remaining teams made their flight from Vietnam to Cambodia this week with all of them getting on the same plane. The first clue was given in the form of a photo of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Teams must find a hotel suite named after the celebrity whom many surprisingly didn't recognize. Then came the Detour, Cover and Wrap. In the former they could sell helmets on the street while in the latter they could go to a market...

This week on "The Amazing Race", the remaining teams embarked from a literally moving pit stop. The leg started from Vietnam's Mekong Delta, where all the contestants were inside a local boat and they were heading to a city called My Tho. Gary and Matt were first to depart and they were instructed to go to Ho Chi Minh City where they should find a puppet theater.
The teams quickly called a cab to reach the destination except for Lance and Keri who had an argument first whether or not they were already in Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival, teams had to grab a flag containing their next clue from the mouth of a dragon puppet bobbing on water. The clue directed them to a local post office.
In the Detour round, they had to choose between Child's Play or Word Play. In the former, teams must move an animal...

Fox's soap opera/reality series Nashville is the winner -- though not in a good way. It's the first new series of the 2007-08 season to be pulled from the primetime schedule.
Nashville debuted on September 14th and follows a group of aspiring country singers as they navigate their way through the Tennessee music city. Participants include Jamey Johnson, Matt Jenkins, Lindsey Hager, Jeff Allen, Clint Moseley, Chuck Wicks, Rachel Bradshaw, Mika Combs, and Sarah Gunsolus.
The series debuted to a disappointing 2.7 million and viewership dropped to 2.2 million the following week. As a result, Fox has pulled the show from the schedule effective immediately.
Encore airings of K-Ville will take over the Nashville slot on Friday nights for the next two weeks. After that, The Next Great American Band will take over the night with three two-hour episodes.
Fox maintains that episodes of Nashville will "be rescheduled at a later date.
