In celebration of today’s release of the new Paramore album, After Laughter, we’re paying homage to the beloved music videos that perfectly captured our 2000s angst and went down as legends.
Prepare to bask in the dejection:
Paramore: “Misery Business”
We could never look as good as Hayley Williams with fiery red hair, but we sure could try.
My Chemical Romance: “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”
We lived for the band’s misfit antics in their movie trailer-inspired masterpiece. But what did Gerard Way just want to do?! The suspense haunts us to this day.

Octoberman
August is clearly trying to make sure summer ends on a hot note. Toronto’s so jam-packed with concerts and music-type events that there’s got to be something in this heap of sweat for everyone. Here are some choice methods to get hot before September.
This Thursday (11 August) , take a ride to this year’s Bicycle Film Festival. Kicking off the festivities will be a concert featuring The Meligrove Band, Octoberman, and Christien Summers at the Horseshoe. If cycling’s not your style, try something more structured, like Housebuilding Thursdays, a residency by collective band Architects running through August and September, at Somewhere There. And if you’re itching for a bit more angst and electronic experimentation Heartbeat Hotel, Armen at the Bazaar, Gay and Still Life Still will be rocking the Silver Dollar.

Fontana, California — Travis Barker was born in Fontana, making it a sure bet that he felt a sense of homecoming as Blink-182 made their only North American appearance of the year at California's Epicenter 2010 Festival in that very town. The trio's hit-packed set closed the two-day event on Sunday following performances from Rise Against, 30 Seconds to Mars, Against Me! and more.
Afternoon temperatures reached 110 degrees in the racetrack parking lot where Epicenter took place, but the crowd's enthusiasm never seemed to wane, thanks in part to a steady stream of water misters and water cannons. Epicenter 2010 kicked off Saturday with Eminem (in his only West Coast appearance this year), Kiss and reunited alt-rockers Bush, among others.

HollywoodNews.com: Hawthorne Heights are gearing up to hit the road again this fall and now they have debuted their new video for “Gravestones.”
While the video isn’t anything amazing, it does leave you feeling sentimental and a tad bit sad after watching the home video footage from the road. After guitarist and vocalist Casey Calvert died of accidental causes almost 3 years ago, the band has moved on but will obviously never be the same. With lyrics that cry, “I’d give anything just to see your ghost, as I drive from the East to the West coast” followed by “the days go by one by one, I scream your name from my lungs, your spirits here in these songs.” Watching the guys tote around a skeleton owl, you can’t help but wonder if this is their attempt to keep Calvert alive in their minds. If it's summertime, then it just makes sense that ultimate surfer-dude Jack Johnson should be bobbing at the top of the Billboard 200 album charts. The mellow wave-rider's latest, To the Sea, will easily grab the #1 spot next week thanks to sales of 243,000 in one of the best debuts of the year, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.
That tally easily bested the week's #2 album, Justin Bieber's My World 2.0, which nudges up one spot to #2 after moving another 52,000 copies. The only other newcomers in the top 10 are Taio Cruz, whose Rokstarr lands at #8 (24,000) and former "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken, who hits #9 with his oldies covers album, Tried & True (22,000).
The rest of the top 10: Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers (#3, 45,000), Lady Antebellum's Need You Now (#4, 41,000), Usher's Raymond v.

Hawthorne Heights appear as skeletons in a music video for their single "Nervous Breakdown". Drummer Eron Bucciarelli told The Deadbolt about the clip, "It's all animated, almost stop motion animation. The skeletons are marionettes and that's all I'll say."
"It's kind of a different type of video for us," he said further. "But it's really cool and a totally different look than anything we've done in the past in any of our videos. So we're more excited about this video than anything we've done."
"Nervous Breakdown" is chosen as the first single from the band's June 1 release "Skeletons" because it is considered as "a really catchy song." Eron explained, "It's got an infectious groove at the beginning. But more than that, from a lyrical standpoint, it sort of deals with those issues we talked about earlier, about why we named the album Skeletons, because everybody feels sort of like they're...

It was a squeaker, but the latest "Glee" soundtrack, Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers, will beat back an advance from the reunited Stone Temple Pilots to hold onto the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week. Just barely behind is the self-titled reunion album from 1990s rockers Stone Temple Pilots, which debuts at #2 on sales of nearly 62,000. At press time, less than 1,400 albums separated the top two discs.

Film festivals are about seeing the future of showbiz. Gasparilla International Film Festival (Giff) had a plethora of talent ready to make it to the next level. Before reading about the filmmakers in this article, go back and read part 1 & part 2.
All caught up? Then let's move on to another duo that has the skill to make it in this crazy industry.
At some point during day 2 of Giff (It's becoming a big blur), I was greeted by two people from Ohio who brought goodies. Christina Grozik and Paul Shaia, have been doing the film fest crawl with their film And the Winner Is. Winner documents how a small town goes about electing their next mayor. Instead of the typical voting process, the town decides to have the candidates go through a competition, which is best described as Beauty Pageant meets American Idol.

Emo band Hawthorne Heights has switched labels from Chicago-based Victory Records to New York's Wind-Up Records. The band's relationship with Victory had been a rocky one, with the band suing the label for breach of contract, among other causes. A federal judge ruled that Hawthorne Heights could record for another label, leaving the door open for the switch. Its pact with Wind-Up is a 360 deal, meaning Wind-Up will participate in all facets of the group's business, including recording, merchandise, touring and publishing. Indie rockers Hawthorne Heights have written a tribute to tragic guitarist Casey Calvert, which they'll debut at their first show without the late rocker.
The group will perform at next month's Bamboozle Left festival in California and they've written a special song honouring their bandmate, who died of an accidental overdose in November.
Drummer Eron Bucciarelli tells RollingStone.com, "Once we're out there, we'll announce it and let people know what it is. It's going to be on our next album, but the song is still a work in progress and we're changing it day by day."
Calvert's death has left the band with performance anxiety, because they've had to relearn all their tunes as a four-piece, and even considered sampling the late guitarist trademark screaming - so he'd be very much a part of the live set.
Bucciarelli adds, "We played around with the idea of sampling his screaming parts from our records and just playing this through the Pa, but we decided that wasn't really real and that it would be better to just let the fans scream along to those parts if they want."
Calvert accidentally overdosed from a mixture of prescribed anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medication and painkillers.
