Slim Shady's team claims that "Lose Yourself" was used illegally in campaign ads.
Politicians may want to refrain from using Eminem music in their campaigns.
No, not because the Detroit-based rapper is known for his rapid-fire, profanity-laced rhymes, but because his legal team may come after you for copyright infringement.
Em's music publishers Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated have filed a lawsuit against New Zealand's National Party, claiming that the party breached copyright laws when it used "Lose Yourself" in campaign ads.
"It is both disappointing and sadly ironic that the political party responsible for championing the rights of music publishers in New Zealand … should itself have so little regard for copyright," Martin said in a statement to the Associated Press. "We do not hesitate to take immediate action to protect the integrity of Eminem's works."

Eminem fans have double good news today: there's a new song featuring Sia, plus a new album compliation on the way that promises new Slim Shady material. Sia and Eminem have a little history -- collaborative history. She sang on and co-wrote Em's "Beautiful Pain" for the deluxe version of "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" from 2013. Today, the full version of the new Slim Shady song "Guts Over Fear" featuring Sia has arrived. The track was previously teased twice in the trailers for "The Equalizer" starring Denzel Washington. This has the rapper in what seems like ballad mode. It's got a very melodic backing track, going long on the choruses and bridges with Sia. The song will play over the closing credits of "The Equalizer," and is already up for sale on iTunes. "ShadyXV" is also en route. It is touted as a new double-album compilation that will bring together previously...

Eminem and Rihanna took on the Als Ice Bucket Challenge in front of their fans -- and not just online. The superstars participated in the internet stunt while they were on one of their Detroit stops of The Monster Tour. The last stop, that is. Ri Ri and Slim Shady had a seat and were doused with ice water on stage in front of around 45,000 concert-goers. Previously, Dr. Dre threw the challenge to Eminem. "I knew this sh*t was coming, but—tonight?" Eminem teased. Then it was tossed to Rihanna. "I'm from the islands; I don't do this ice shit! This ice shit doesn't work for me," she exclaimed. But, hey, for a good cause! The MTV Video Music Awards may pass out Moonmen to its winners, but the award show is better known for giving music fans unforgettably shocking moments.
It's been 30 years since Madonna popped out of a wedding cake and rolled around on the stage, but her Vma performance is still fresh in our minds. And it was only last year that Miley Cyrus twerked up a storm of controversy with Robin Thicke – certainly no one's forgotten that. While viewers can depend on MTV to deliver the OMGs to kick off awards season, some things have changed.

There are multiple reasons to start getting excited for September’s The Equalizer. The thriller teams Denzel Washington with his Training Day director Antoine Fuqua and finds the actor taking on another badass action hero role. Its supporting cast boasts Melissa Leo, Chloë Grace Moretz, Marton Csokas and Haley Bennett, and the film also features an original song by rapper Eminem with a chorus by Chandelier chanteuse Sia.
The latest TV spot not only really reminds us of what we already knew about The Equalizer‘s story, but it also highlights Eminem and Sia’s track, titled “Guts Over Fear.” Though we heard snippets of the song in a previous trailer, Eminem’s rapping is more center stage this time around – and Slim Shady sounds like he’s at the top of his game here.

Get ready to love Chris Pratt just a little bit more than you already do (and, yes, I know that that seems unlikely after his appearances with Guardians of the Galaxy and Parks and Recreation). When Pratt guested on Shade45’s The Whoolywood Shuffle, he talked with hosts DJ Whoo Kid and Chris about his love for early ‘90s Eminem—and then proved that he was a real fan by breaking out a worryingly accurate rendition of the onetime Slim Shady’s verse of “Forgot About Dre.” (And we’re not talking about the radio edit, so consider the clip below Nsfw.)

Thanks to Parks and Recreation, we already know Chris Pratt's got a knack for belting impassioned Dave Matthews-esque ballads about falling into pits and deceased mini-horses (Rip Li'l Sebastian), but the actor proved he's no one-trick pony during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on his radio show, Whoolywood Shuffle.

When it comes to covers of popular songs, the Guardians of the Galaxy press tour is the gift that keeps on giving. Last week, we got to hear Vin Diesel belt out a moving rendition of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me," and today, fellow national sweetheart Chris Pratt stopped by DJ Whoo Kid's The Whoolywood Shuffle to sing a little ditty of his own. Unlike Diesel, who clearly prefers a slow jam, Pratt's musical tastes are a little more hard-core, as he demonstrated by flawlessly rapping the Slim Shady part from "Forgot About Dre" (he describes Dr. Dre's The Chronic 2001 as "his Peter Quill mix"). Enjoy.

The Killing, Season 4, Episode 1, “Blood in the Water”
Written by Veena Sud
Directed by Nicole Kassell
Premiered Friday, August 1st on Netflix
A fourth season of The Killing seemed unlikely, to say the least, after the show was canceled. Fortunately for fans, Netflix stepped in and the series’ change in venue will likely shape the final season (it should, for example, allow Joel Kinnaman to drop an f-bomb, which I’ve been waiting for Holder to do since he was introduced back in the first season). What hasn’t changed is the series’ murder-mystery core. The premiere introduces two intertwining plots: the massacre of the Stansbury family (save for one survivor, son Kyle Stansbury, who does not remember the night of the murder), and whether Linden and Holder will be able to successfully cover up Linden’s shooting of Lt. Skinner from last season’s finale. The whodunit of who...

"To Tell the Truth," one of the greatest television game shows with a timeless conceit, is purportedly coming back to air. Fremantle is heading up a new primetime version of the series that puts "an update of the familiar format with a surprising new twist that adds action and suspense and raises the stakes." I'm all for it! "To Tell the Truth" is -- with the possible exception of "What's My Line?" -- the best panel game in TV history: Four celebrities interrogate three contestants who all claim to be the same person, and then the celebrities vote on which candidate is telling the truth. It's the show that's most responsible for putting Kitty Carlisle and Peggy Cass into our cultural lexicon, and it's what Eminem is referencing when he famously asked, "Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?" Gordon Elliott and Alex Trebek hosted an early '90s version,...

It is a fact rarely disputed that Birmingham is the finest city in all the world. The diverse nature of this stunning metropolis, along with the lively culture of music, means that it is the place to be twelve months of the year. From Digbeth to Broad Street and all that’s in between, Birmingham is truly a land of wonder and delight. You simply cannot walk down a Birmingham street without feeling a buzz rush through you. Not as hectic as London, yet not as small as Manchester, Birmingham is the city of dreams. As with all things in life the sweet comes with the sour.

From producing the funniest movie spoofs to inciting celebrity make-out sessions, there is rarely a dull moment at the MTV Movie Awards! With the 2014 show going down tonight, let’s take a moment to remember some of the most outrageous, cringe-worthy moments of MTV’s past.In 2005, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams gave the audience something to talk about when they demonstrated their on-screen/off-screen passion after winning for Best Kiss. "The Notebook" stars were actually dating at the time they won the award -- and lucky for us, the couple wasn’t shy about publicly showing their affection for each other. Eminem needs no introduction. Arguably one of the most iconic Mc’s of the 21st – century and with his 8 albums (11 if you count his D12 releases and collaboration with Royce Da 5’9″) he has solidified his spot as a living legend and praised for his contributions to not just hip-hop but music as a whole too. Like any artist though, for every ten or so songs executed to perfection he provides one embarrassing dud reminiscent of those drunk texts you shamefully look over the following morning mid-hangover. As a bit of a disclaimer, you’ll notice that Lose Yourself is not on the Awesome Song list primarily because I wanted to allow the spotlight for a couple of his non-radio singles.
So with that, why not take a journey into 5 awesome songs by the one and only Slim Shady and 5 songs that, for lack of a better term, sucked.

Eminem borrows from Max Headroom, "The Matrix" and his Slim Shady past in his new video for "Rap God." Watch it here or below. As he hinted at in the trailer, Em turns into Eighties' computer-generated character Headroom and later, Neo from "The Matrix" trilogy. But the video's highlight comes when Slim Shady travels back to his "8 Mile" days, wearing a grey hoodie and backpack and hyping the crowd in a rap battle. It's a full circle moment for Eminem. The six-minute video also mirrors some of the lyrics from "Rap God" -- the second single off his platinum album...

Celine Dion's "Loved Me Back to Life" and Avril Lavigne's self-titled album arrive in top five.
Eminem makes a splash at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as his new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 debuts atop the list with 792,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
It marks the second-largest sales week of the year, behind only the arrival of Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, which started with 968,000 in March. The year's second-largest week had been the debut of Drake's Nothing Was the Same (658,000).
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 also logs the sixth-biggest sales week of the past five years. Since November 2008, larger weeks were only earned by Taylor Swift's Red (2012, 1.2 million upon its debut), Lady Gaga's Born This Way (2011, 1.1 million debut), Swift's Speak Now (2010, 1 million debut), Timberlake and Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV (2011, 964,000 debut).
LP2 marks Eminem's seventh No. 1 album. It’s also his seventh consecutive album, and they all debuted at the top.

Making music history doesn't seem like much of a surprise for rap superstar Eminem, and he has done it again!
The 41-year-old is the first artist since The Beatles in 1964 to have four simultaneous songs inside the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Slim Shady's track, “The Monster,” recorded with Rihanna, debuted at #3 on the chart, while “Berzerk” hit #15, directly alongside “Survival” at #16. Finally, “Rap God” concluded the artist's list of top songs at #17.
In related news, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is expected to debut at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200, and no musical performer has accomplished Eminem's achievement since The Beatles, showcasing six songs in the Top 20 for two weeks in April 1964.

In addition to receiving primarily strong reviews, the album is expected to be one of the year’s top sellers, with opening week sales projections to be as high as 750,000, according to Billboard. Batten down the hatches-Eminem is coming, and he’s in rude health once more.
The internet has went into meltdown twice over the past month as Eminem dropped two new tracks from his forthcoming new record, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The first, Bezerk, saw Em mining the same pop-rap vein that has provided his biggest hits in the past few years, whilst the second, Rap God, sent social media networks into a frenzy. Over a pounding and insistent piano line, Slim Shady sounds more vital and alive than he has in a decade, spitting out nearly 100 words within 15 seconds at one point. The MMLP2 could well, at this rate, rival Doris and Yeezus as the best hip-hop release of the year.
