There is plenty going on in our world today, but one bit of news has pet owners growling and hissing.
As Twitter user @caraallieray puts it, “There’s a lot happening, but I keep obsessing on how Trump said owning pets is ‘low class.’ ”
This shocking comment is pulled from a recent article in The Atlantic, regarding Vice President Mike Pence.
In the piece, an adviser tells The Atlantic that President Trump reportedly thinks pets are “low class” and was “embarrassed” when Pence announced in January that he and his family would be moving into the Naval Observatory with their pets — which included,...

Before I jump into this week’s column, I wanted to touch on Iceman #1 since I’ve mentioned it so many times prior to its release last Wednesday. The Nine Network is channelling tens of millions of dollars freed up from the end of its output deal with Warner Bros. into a record investment in local content.
Spending on local production will continue to rise over the next three years to the point where the network invests $100 million more per year than currently, executives said at the upfronts presentation today.
While Nine retains the first-run rights to The Big Bang Theory, director of programming and production Andrew Backwell said the broadcaster decided to relinquish the re-runs (subsequently acquired by Seven) because it preferred to spend the money on local content.
The 2016 line-up includes the Matchbox Pictures drama Hide & Seek, Cjz.s previously announced two-part Alan Bond miniseries House of Bond and a new factual series, Prison: First & Last 24 Hours.

This year’s Blood List has named the 13 best genre scripts around town, and in its sixth year the annual screenplay contest is expanding its scope to include hot books, TV pilots, and young scribes ripe for signing. Taking top honors in 2014 is sci-fi thriller Bird Box from The Thing and Final Destination 5 scribe Eric Heisserer, an apocalyptic tale of a woman trying to lead her children to safety – all three blindfolded – after monsters descend on earth that turn people insane on sight. Universal set Heisserer to adapt the manuscript from Josh Malerman in 2013 for Mama helmer Andy Muschietti. Previous Blood List alumni include Black Swan, Stoker, Warm Bodies, and the upcoming Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door.
Like the Black List naming the top unproduced screenplays circulating around Hollywood, the genre-focused Blood List taps exec votes to determine each year’s best unmade horror, sci-fi, and thriller scripts.

Yes Virginia, the garden city in Supernatural British Columbia has ghosts lurking in one of its most notorious 101-year-old building, the Victoria Plaza Hotel. They have decided to stay around to "tell" their story in the appropriately titled theatre production, "Ghost of the Plaza." It is written by Sarah Smith, a former employee of Monty's Showroom Pub who heard the tales but never had an encounter, and her co-producer, Sadie Forbes, an amateur scholar who is an avid researcher. Together, they managed to unearth more than just bones in the rustic basement. Their stories will span nearly a century of the old building's existence, and the show will run during the last two weekends of November. But the plans do not stop here. Ghosts are eternal, and so is this team's story. "The concept for the play happened quite organically," explained Forbes, "It grew from a whim of Sarah's to...

After their troubled relationship with Dreamworks ended in tears (each company “Flushed Away” the other basically) it got a bit quiet on the Aardman cinema front. A deal with Sony was signed which thankfully assured Something would be forthcoming, so all we had to do was wait, and wait…
Well, the waiting has not exactly ended, but Aardman Studios has released details for two upcoming feature films which are scheduled for 2011 and 2012. Good thing I’m getting better at being more patient lately…
First up will be “Arthur Christmas” by Sarah Smith and Barry Cook. Written by Peter Baynham of “Borat” (in?)fame, the script tells how Santa’s huge army, consisting of high-tech combat elves, makes sure there is no nightmare During Christmas.
Oh, man. Combat elves? I cannot wait to see this…
The second feature is “The Pirates! - In An Adventure With Scientists” by Peter Lord.
