A newly released rough mix of “Photograph” from Def Leppard’s archives shows a different side to the Number One rock chart hit. Where the version that came out on Pyromania and dominated rock radio in 1983 finds the band singing “Photograph” and Joe Elliott responding, “I don’t want your … / I don’t need your …” the rough mix has less vocals and more space. It sounds almost like a new wave song with more prominent (and funkier) bass, less reverb, and a lot more jangly guitar in the chorus. The cowbell remains the same.

As Skidrow frontman Sebastian Bach sat down after a long day of metal rocking to enjoy some MTV, an energetic pretty boy suddenly appeared before the eyes of Bach. And all he could think was, “What the f*ck is a Bon Jovi and What the f*ck is with all those teeth?”, as smiling was not exactly considered cool amongst the metal-heads of the time. And we can’t forget Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider, who believes that he can pin point the exact moment that metal started to become less metal….when Bon Jovi smiled, creating what many like to call “happy metal”. While others say that Bon Jovi’s music brought a fresh new light to the genre causing millions of other smiles to spread throughout the world. Not being completely miserable and angry all the time was a bold controversial move in the world of rock...

Though they’re forever tied together because of one guitar (more on that later), most music fans wouldn’t confuse Jimmy Page and Joe Walsh. Many people considered Page one of the best guitarists of all time before he formed Led Zeppelin, and his playing only improved in the band. Walsh, famously of the Eagles, is a fine player with a niche of his own. Yet Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen says Page and Walsh have one thing in common — they are both underrated in their own way.

As we mentioned, Page and Walsh occupy their own chapters in the classic rock story.
Page was the creative force in one of the biggest bands ever. Walsh flew more under the radar, but his playing was no less impressive.

Def Leppard Announce Album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Share Re-Imagined “Animal”: Stream
Def Leppard have teamed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for the collaborative album Drastic Symphonies, arriving May 19th. A newly re-imagined orchestral version of “Animal” can be streamed now.
The collection features 15 orchestral re-workings of some of Def Leppard’s most iconic tracks, as well as a few deep cuts from their catalog. Rather than performing live alongside the orchestra, a la Metallica’s S&m, Drastic Symphonies is an ambitious studio project, combining specific audio from the original master tapes of the songs, fresh guitar/vocal overdubs, and symphonic arrangements recorded by the Rpo at Abbey Road studios.
As heard on the new version of “Animal,” the results are far from “an orchestra plonked over our previous recordings,” as guitarist Phil Collen put it. At times, you can hear Joe Elliott duetting with his younger self, and the new orchestral mix is a completely different experience than the classic Hysteria track.

In the spring of 2020, Def Leppard made plans to gather at Joe Elliott’s house in Ireland to record a handful of tunes before starting rehearsals for their stadium tour with Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett. They knew they wouldn’t have nearly enough time to finish an album, but they wanted to start the process and hopefully resume it once the tour wrapped for the year.
They planned on coming together in late March, just as the pandemic was shutting down global travel along with the entire live music industry.

When Def Leppard’s members realized they wouldn’t be exploring the world on the Stadium Tour last year, they decided to conquer the backs of their wardrobes instead. A new online museum that they’ve dubbed the Def Leppard Vault (a nod to their 1995 greatest hits comp, Vault) collects images of artifacts from throughout the group’s 40-plus–year history and commentary from the band.
“After months of digging through our personal rock & roll closets (and warehouses, no less!), we present you our history,” frontman Joe Elliott said in a statement.

The Struts have enlisted two heavy metal heroes, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and Phil Collen, for a new song, “I Hate How Much I Want You.”
The track opens with a cheeky phone call between Elliott and Struts frontman Luke Spiller, who pitches the collaboration by saying, “I have this big, fat chorus that I need your big old pipes for.” It’s an offer, of course, that Elliott can’t refuse, and the singer splits vocal duties with Spiller on the booming track, while Collen adds some extra...

British glam rockers the Struts have teamed upwith Robbie Williams for a new video for their power ballad, “Strange Days.”
The video was shot by Chris Applebaum around Southern California. It starts in black-and-white with shots of Struts frontman Luke Spiller walking down an empty desert highway, performing the song alongside Williams, who twirls an umbrella above him to keep out the sun. By the end of the video, the Struts are performing in full, vivid color, bashing through the grand finale of “Strange Days” against a gorgeous backdrop of mountains.

Since forming more than four decades ago, Def Leppard became one of the best-selling bands in the world on the strength of mega-platinum albums like Pyromania and Hysteria and hard-rocking anthems like “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Tonight, they were finally recognized for their contributions to rock & roll.
The band has been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 14 years now but they’ve been up for nomination only once. It turns out, that’s all they needed. The group garnered more votes...

Def Leppard were eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for over a decade before they appeared on a ballot this year. Once they were added, they won entry on their first attempt. “It’s not one type of music [being inducted this year], which I think is a great reflection on people’s taste,” lead singer Joe Elliott told Rolling Stone. Before taking the stage at the Barclays Center on Friday, Elliott and his bandmates spoke about their longstanding connection to Queen’s Brian May, a new album that’s in...

Radiohead, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Nicks are among the new class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame made it official: Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, Roxy Music, and the Zombies are part of the 2019 inductee class.
The Cleveland-based Hall of Fame will host its induction ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 29th. HBO and SiriusXM will air edited versions of the ceremony at a later date.
Stevie Nicks becomes the first woman to be twice inducted into the Rock Hall. She was previously honored in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. While most fans know Taryn Manning for her acclaimed portrayal of Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett on Orange Is the New Black, the actress is also quite an impressive singer -- a talent she displays on an all-new episode of Comedy Central’s The Comedy Jam. And Et has your first look as Manning takes the stage with Def Leppard’s Phil Collen to perform “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”
The eight-episode show, which first premiered on March 22, features celebrities dishing on their favorite memories of iconic songs and then later reliving them on stage with a live performance. For Manning, it’s channeling a longtime rock-n-roll fantasy that sees the actress trading Pennsatucky’s wavy brown locks for some punk-inspired pink hair.
“It's just temporary,” Manning revealed to Et backstage after taping the episode. Having just finished filming season five of Oitnb, which returns to Netflix on June 9, the actress just wanted to change things up. “I had to...

Nine days after finalizing his divorce from second wife Anita Thomas Collen, Def Leppard's lead guitarist Phil Collen has walked down the aisle with costume designer Helen L. Simmons. The two wed in a sunset ceremony on the beach at Florida's Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach resort on Friday, July 16, People reported.
"We've been looking for each other our entire lifetime. To say we're ecstatic this day has finally come is putting it mildly. It could only be us for each other," Collen told the site. On their environmentally-friendly bash, the star claimed, "We didn't intentionally start out trying to have green wedding. But since it's a natural part of our lifestyle to respect the environment, everything flowed pretty naturally."
Collen and Simmons were united in front of around 60 guests with a minister quoting poet Maya Angelou's "Touched By an Angel" and writings by the Dalai Lama. Collen donned J.
