Bublé (briefly) tried his hand at rapping before launching into a performance of “You’re Nobody ’til Somebody Loves You.”

The Voice is in its 25th season and the coaches believe they know what makes it still popular all these years later. While television ratings have dropped, that has happened across all of television. The Voice‘s ratings remain relatively strong compared to the rest of the television landscape.

The Voice has had more seasons than one of the most popular singing competition shows in history. It also easily outlasted a similar show in The X Factor, which only lasted three seasons in the United States.

As Blake Shelton prepares to exit “The Voice” after a dozen years and 23 seasons, the impact of the country singer’s enduring, anchoring presence as the NBC music competition series’ longest-running coach is already being keenly felt by his creative colleagues.
“From the start, Blake was kind, down to earth and funny,” says the series’ showrunner and executive producer Audrey Morrissey, who, like Shelton, has been with the series since its inception. “He’s the type of person that makes sure to have fun every day and makes sure those around him laugh as well.”
Shelton’s affable, easygoing and supportive approach has been felt far beyond what makes it to air, Morrissey adds. “He takes a real interest in people — whether it be his team or the crew,” she says. “This was apparent from Season 1, where after the season was over, he helped out two of his team members.

NBC has tweaked its midseason schedule, pushing the premiere of Eurovision offshoot American Song Contest by a month, from the previously announced Monday, Feb. 21 (8-10 p.m.) to March 21. Taking over the slot is new reality series America’s Got Talent: Extreme, which made headlines last fall when a contestant was badly hurt in an on-set accident.

It’s every contestant’s dream on “The Voice” to get all four judges to turn their chairs around. But when it happens, a difficult choice must be made: whose team do they join? For host Carson Daly though, the decision is actually pretty easy.
“I would choose John Legend,” the host revealed to TheWrap. “You probably thought I was gonna say Blake [Shelton], because we’re close, but that’s why I wouldn’t want to be on his team. Because I know him too well. He offers me nothing.”
Daly made his choice during a panel discussion for TheWrap’s latest Emmy Screening Series, breaking down “The Voice,” which is hoping to bring home its eighth award this Fall. This season, contestants will be guided once again by Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson. Also joining the judges panel this year is Ariana Grande, taking over for Nick Jonas.

“It feels incredible, shocking even!” exclaims Audrey Morrissey, the executive producer of NBC’s “The Voice,” while reflecting on the reality TV series earning seven Emmy nominations for its 19th and 20th seasons. “It’s been a decade. To be continually recognized and nominated is unbelievable. It’s so gratifying and so rewarding.” Watch Morrissey’s exclusive video interview with Gold Derby above.
The four-time Emmy winner explains that producers constantly think about how to mix things up “without jumping the shark.” Since the series premiered in 2011, various twists have been added to bring excitement to the program including steals, blocks and instant saves. “You want to keep things fresh,” Morrissey says. “You want people coming back for more, having an unexpected element. But it’s got to make sense. It has to fit with the core values of the show.”
